The Confederate States of America (also refered to as The Confederacy) was the name used collectively by the states that decided that armed revolt was preferrable to following the orders of a Republican President[1] whose policy (that they should do their own damn work instead of torturing black people into doing it for them) offended them. They seceded from the United States, causing the American Civil War.

[edit] Accomplishments

Although their reasons for going to war were suspect in the extreme, it is hard to question the strategic skill of Confederate leaders in the early part of the Civil War. Fortunately, their beloved General Lee apparently suffered a bout of insanity from June 30th through July 3rd, culminating in his ordering his troops to charge a Union position even though:

  • The Union troops were entrenched
  • The Union troops had the high ground
  • The Union troops outnumbered the men Lee assigned to the charge

The results were rather predictable.

Also, the Confederates built cities that burned real good, which proved to be a godsend to General Sherman.

[edit] Implications on the present day

Although the Confederacy was defeated in the American Civil War, its legacy has continued without pause. The former states of the Confederacy are strongly controlled politically by the Republican party. This support has allowed ignorant, bigoted, and totalitarian conservative policies to be enforced roughshod over the entire United States.
