Insects during the global flood

Many creationists in an attempt to make feeding the animals on Noah's Ark a little less impossible will claim that Noah would not have to have fed the insects. Answers in Genesis claims that they could have survived outside the ark on "floating mats of vegetation".[1] This is not only scientifically impossible it even violates scripture.
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man.[2]
"creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" also known as an insect.
