Please, stop trying to use Irish expressions. So Susan, you deny being an annoying feminist type? I would have thought that was a compliment... (Surprised that comment didn't make you leave and never come back - or is that leave and never come back, except under the pretense of a new username???) MarcusCicero 18:11, 30 January 2009 (EST)

Why do you have a vendetta against Susan? Time word Phantom Hoover! 18:13, 30 January 2009 (EST)

I don't have a vendetta against Susan.. That would imply that I cared! Seriously though, I can never understand how she's taken seriously. For one thing she is dangerously anti-religious - the 'lets throw them all in a gulag and re-educate their children' type. She whinges and whinges and whinges about shit no-one gives a shit about then. Then, when people drag some home truths in front of her she cries and runs home with her ball - only to re-appear as a new user or about five months later as if nothing happened. In the meantime she still edits with IPs and other short term accounts. Everyone knows its her but she still maintains the pretense... Its quite sad. Yet still, you all treat her like she's a rational human being and not as the needy whiny cringe and fringe internet feminist type she really is. Let her play by all means, but don't give the gal a pedastal.

Anyway, again I don't give a shit about Susan, I'm sure she has a great life and all of that and don't hold any real malice towards her, but for her to wander about here throwing about that boring accusation above is a little much. Yawn, I don't care... No-one does.

Just as an aside, whats the point in me being in the vandal bin if I can just circumvent it like this? A bit pointless. Just remove me from the bin, I obviously was just taking the piss after being given sysop powers. I don't take the site as seriously and get offended as easily as Susan. 86.40.197.68 18:22, 30 January 2009 (EST)

Your account[edit]

Hello there, I've noticed from recent comments that your style seems to have changed slightly - people are saying that you're not as funny as you used to be; it does look as if there's some bitterness and anger in your latest stuff. Is it possible that someone has hacked your account? If someone is trying to impersonate you, you should take action because your recent stuff is of low quality. if, however, this is actually you, perhaps you could try taking a look at yourself and ask if you are dragging some RL problems here and taking it out on us. It's always much better in the long run to confront difficult situations directly rather than than lash out at someone else in frustration. I do hope this post helps you. Totnesmartin 12:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, my wife recently left me and I've been left with a raging horde of 15 Irish catholic kids. And I lost my job as a history person. Trying to live on 300 euro a week. Maybe I shouldn't take my problems out on poor little rationalwiki. MarcusCicero2 13:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Some Questions[edit]

If you think we are a bunch of unintelligent proles and that rationalwiki is stupid and lame why is it that -

  • You keep coming back?
  • That you make edits you know are not within our POV?
  • Get mad when someone reverts your edits knowing full well it will happen?
  • Hurl abuse at the slighest infraction and complain about us and rationalwiki?
  • Why dont you stay at the wiki/forum you mentioned you are a part of and just laugh at us from afar?

I am curious because you keep coming back and trolling and that is why people think you are a troll. And it makes you seem the unintelligent fool, not us. Ace McWickedi9 23:57, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Also Ace, you forgot to inquire about the current location of his dick and why, if he is so superior to us, his edits are full of grammatical mistakes. - π 00:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Quite, however I am seriously curious about MC's motives which is why I didn't flame him...yet. Ace McWickedi9 00:01, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Clarifications[edit]

  1. I keep coming back because I get an urge every so often to check out Rationalwiki. Not sure why.
  2. You have no point of view other than lame ass new age internet lolism. So take your pov and stick it up your ass.
  3. My edits on the crusades or historical revisionism were not controversial and were factual.
  4. I complain about you and rationalwiki because it is my natural right. If you are confident your website does not have any of the flaws I believe it does then my criticisms surely have no barbed teeth.
  5. I go on that forum roughly once every two weeks. Its not exactly somewhere I log in to every day. Some of the people are quite witty and uncover websites far more obscure and self important than rationalwiki every day.
  6. I am not a troll.
  7. Having good grammar doesn't make one intellectually superior. Pointing out someone elses grammar is poor is comparable to pointing out that someone used a swear word in a denunciation of Nazi-ism. Its irrelevant and consciouslly derailing. And bitter.
  8. I couldn't give a shit about this place if you dropped the intellectual pretensions. The name 'Rationalwiki' is grotesque, unprecedented, bizarre, unbelievable. It makes you look like spoons. Drop the intellectual act or drop the 14 year olds who clog up the website. Either way, you look like immature idiots with nothing better to do with your time. MarcusCicero (talk) 17:24, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, your criticisms don't have barbed teeth. It's like getting gummed by someone boring, usually. But I got a good giggle out of "I am not a troll", that's a little better. --Kels (talk) 17:30, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Thats well and good MC however you are a troll and the fact you find RW so repugnant, so purile and abhorrent, yet you keep coming back and trolling says more about you than us.
"Either way, you look like immature idiots with nothing better to do with your time." The fact you state this and then lower yourself to the point of trolling RW suggests you have nothing better to do either. Ace McWickedi9 20:06, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Marcus Cicero has a mental disorder[edit]

Hi,

This is John's brother. I know he has been using this account for a variety of reasons, none of them productive for his troublesome history of mental health problems. For obvious reasons I don't want to go into details about this but suffice to say my mother and father have decided to withdraw his access from the internet for the duration of his most recent treatment process.

I apologise on my brothers behalf for any problems he may have caused this website during his period of instability. As you know, his posts have been of a bizarre quality but that is merely a reflection of his real world mental anguishes. MarcusCicero (talk) 23:09, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Note, this edit really was made using MC's account [1], but at talk:main. Kels moved it here. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:24, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about the mixup, I forgot to link back to where I moved it from. --Kels (talk) 23:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm going to jump in here and say that commenting on whether this post was actually written by MC or whether MC actually has a mental disorder as alleged, would be inappropriate. If the above post is truthful, MC's state is none of our business and as long as the irritating conduct stops, all is right with the wiki, though I would wish MC the best. If it's not true, it doesn't deserve any further comment. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 23:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I also think that out of an abundance of caution in the interest of protecting MC's privacy if indeed the post is truthful it ought to be oversighted. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 23:49, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

It's crap. No-one would make such a post, they'd just not post. It's MC trying for the sympathy vote. This message brought to you by: Toastrespondand honey 23:51, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I see no reason for oversighting, there isn't actually any information in the post (true or not), say, that would constitute a breach of privacy, since we don't know who MC is anyway. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:58, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I dont reckon he is after the sympathy vote although I can see him posting something like this then sitting back and chuckling to himself. Soon he'll be back calling us all morons for the way we treated something with a mental disorder and that we are a bunch of children that him and his secret forum buddies laugh at. Ace McWickedi9 00:42, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
You're probably right Ace. This message brought to you by: Toastrespondand honey 00:45, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't much care either way. If he's got a mental disorder, then he's got one. If he doesn't, he doesn't. It's not particularly relevant to anything. --Kels (talk) 00:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

This has gone from the sublime to the bizarre. Can we just make it site policy that nobody is to talk to MC, as he keeps causing flame wars whatever his reasons are? What ever the deal with these mental problems we can't do anything for him either way, but if we want to actual do something with RationalWiki constantly getting into arguments with someone who is just out to cause trouble isn't going to achieve anything. - π 01:07, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Let me explain[edit]

A poster alleged that if someone had a mental disorder, they wouldn't post anyway. The reason I am posting here is because my brother felt very sorry for behaving in the way he did and he asked me to apologise for him. His mental torment and anguish is so vast that little issues such as how he may have offended you play in his mind for weeks and weeks. Without getting into specifics about the mental disorder he has, its pretty serious. As a result, I would appreciate it if you respected John's privacy and permanantly banned user 'Toast' for suggesting something so vulgar. MarcusCicero (talk) 16:47, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

P.S - He told me the password to his user account in order to be able to make contact with you. This shall be the last post I make on his account and you may close it from herein at your own pleasure.

Oh, what a give away. Who but MC himself would advocate that "Toast" be banned. How you doin' MC? This message brought to you by: Toastrespondand honey 18:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Year-long block.[edit]

One--it's really unclear to me as to what's going on here and whether or not MC is speaking for himself or if "his brother" is speaking for him, so I'm not sure the block is a good idea. Two--we don't block users. If MC wants to be blocked, make him a sysop and let him block himself. Three. TK isn't even blocked ferfuxsake. What, you can't handle a little trolling that has perhaps a wee bit of grounding in the truth? get over yourselves. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 18:04, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I question the "grounding in the truth" part, but the year-long block is just stupid. Initially binning him for trolling, I could see that, but that's about it. --Kels (talk) 18:13, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
I second Kels; and I don't actually believe what's been posted above, even that his name is "John". It's far too convenient that "John's" brother should suggest blocking Toast when MC has been on a personal crusade against Toast (amongst others). That said, ToP is right, we don't do long blocks in fact a precedent has been set that you are not even allowed to block yourself for too long. Redchuck.gif ГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 18:36, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Concerning Toast[edit]

My advocation of permanantly blocking user 'Toast' was simply a suggestion, I had no idea it would lead to such cynicism or that in fact John had a 'vendetta' against this person. If that is the case I will withdraw my comment about blocking user 'Toast' and suggest blocking user 'SusanG' instead. MarcusCicero (talk) 19:02, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

And the hand is over played. tmtoulouse 19:03, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Speaking as a BoN, I have to say that this is one of the most confusing things I've seen on RW. It seems to start out with a big argument between Cicero and SusanG (in which Cicero is -as far as I can see- well in the right), but soon for some reason he then goes off becoming more and more aggressive, and in turn everyone starts treating him as some kind of punching bag (especially the hardcore athiests(?)). Its childish nonsense that I would expect my 7 year old nephew to come out with. Honestly. I don't find it funny, personally I see it as the emotional ventings of sexually frustrated youth with far too much 4chan underneath their belt and who don't have a fucking clue about the real world. MarcusCicero 12:34, 17 September 2009 (UTC) (And who possibly sit in their parents basement, drowned underneath the weight of their own ejaculation and blinded by the ordeal of constantly watching foot fetish porn.)

There is a grave difference between tense and indignance. Mock indignance is the most tense of all. MarcusCicero 12:48, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
So let me get this straight. You would like to contribute to a community that opposes Conservapedia, but dislike the parody and humor this site attaches to said goal and would like aforementioned criticism to be of a more professional and serious fashion? If so then although I can see where you're coming from my observations are thus:
1) I like the humor. It's fun.
2) If you dislike the methods used here then why not start your own site with strict guidelines on professionalism rather than constantly returning here to accuse members therein of having small, inoffensive personal appendages?
CrundyTalk nerdy to me 13:03, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Methinks he doth protest too much. His endless ranting reflects more on his needs than our shortcomings. Poor thing. Bob Soles 13:49, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Does MC believe that we should be a serious watchdog group for things like CP? That seems to be a bad idea from my perspective. Being serious about CP would imply that CP is to be taken seriously. That is certainly not the right message to send. --Edgerunner76Your views are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter 13:54, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Why are you making assumptions about what I believe? You're basically saying 'well since you believe x, surely you can't envisage y, z, k, and s as being the case?' These are weak strawmans people. Hi there[edit]

I've never encountered you before. I've seen the various threads on this site and on RWW so I have a certain set of preconceptions, but your points on the British print media were accurate and apart from a few typically-RW posts on talk pages I don't know why people have such a problem with you.

When you call RW writers pricks, wankers and hypocrites, is it for their talk page posts or their article space posts? I think there's a difference. If it's the former, then... well testosterone will out; I've done my fair share of that. If the latter, then I think I'll have to disagree unless you have examples. Can you give me some? –SuspectedReplicantretire me 20:31, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

MC usually arrives on RW to call everyone cunts etc, then he pretended to be his brother and tried to convince us that Marcus had a mental illness. Ace McWickedModel 500 20:38, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Now now Ace, that was just out of boredom. SuspectedReplicant: I cannot give examples. I disagree with the culture of this place. I disagree with the standard of humour. I disagree with the hypocrisy (Especially that little shite Theemperor) I find the aims of this site to be completely out of kilter with what it is in reality. RW is just a mirror of the new internet, a place of pathetic kids throwing around meaningless internet statements that no-one in the real world use. It is a sham of a site, visited by a diverse set of characters who simply don't fit in anywhere else. MarcusCicero 20:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

No fun to hang around,
Feeling that same old way.
No fun to hang around,
Freaked out for another day.
No fun, my babe, no fun,
No fun, my babe, no fun,
No fun to be alone,
Walking by myself.
No fun to be alone,
In love with nobody else.
Well, maybe go out,
Maybe stay home.
Maybe call Moum on the telephone.
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
No fun to be alone
No fun to be alone
Hang on, don't let me go
No fun to be alone.

But dude, you can't seem to just give it up. I gave you three simple options......

  • Stay and enjoy RW for what is and avoid what you dont like.
  • Leave for good and we'd all forget.
  • Continue to be a prat and expect to be flamed and vandal binned.

You choose third. Reap what you sew. Ace McWickedI'm a pretty big deal around here... 12:34, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Ace, no offense, but you are behaving like an autocrat. I am not a vandal so you cannot put me in the vandal bin. If you think I am a troll - fine - not much I can do about that. But Rationalwiki of all places should be able to deal with a bit of trolling without resorting to bans and vandal binnings.
And you do not decide what RW is and what it isn't. I'm not forcing anything on anybody, merely expressing an opinion. If you don't like that opinion then don't adopt the measures I propose - I AM NOT FORCING YOU TO DO ANYTHING SO PLEASE STOP BEHAVING AND THINKING LIKE AN AUTOCRAT. MarcusCicero 14:08, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Can we both put emotions to the side and just be rational?!
Marcus: RationalWiki is ultimitally the sum of its editors, and no matter how much one or two or three editors here hate internet memes and humour, it will still go on. If it really bugs you, just do what I do when something (rarely enough) bugs me, turn around and whistle. (I find Never Gunna Give You Up to be a good tune). If you are sincere in your desires for a more serious wiki, RationalWiki will never be it, but you can do what you believe is best by making articles the way you would want them to be created.
And Ace, yes, I disagree with Marcus and think he may be just a troll, but the other side of me figures that he just may be sincere, and the vandal bin is indeed a vandal bin, not a troll bin. Just about the entire community disagrees with Marcus's attempts to be serious on RationalWiki, and with that prevailing attitude, I think I can honestly say that anything Marcus proposes will never get through. So long as we keep biting his ass when he bites ours, recent changes will be flooded with an awful lot of grumpy people (and presumably, a rise in average blood pressure of all RW users).
So let the show go on. I see no reason to get involved in most Marcus discussions because they all wind up in the same place, accusations of trolling and doucebaggery and pompousness and general wankery going in every direction. Can't we all just grow up, or is everyone going to keep going this way? Javasca₧ Banhammer, Renamer, and Goat 14:24, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm not asking for a more serious wiki. Just a more rational wiki. Just a wiki that actually goes some way to matching the lofty goals you set for yourself in the about section and in the Mission statement. there is a reason why the intellectual heavyweights have left - attitudes like Ace (The parody of the redneck boozer in South Park) telling someone that if you don't like it you can just geeeeet out doesn't help. MarcusCicero 14:27, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, agree and disagree. From where I sit, your definition of a rational wiki is your definition, and my definition of a rational wiki is my own, just as Human has his own and Kels has her own. There is no single right or wrong definition of what this wiki should be. Now, I do agree with you, the attitude of "like it or leave it" is vaugly remniscant of a "light vs dark" philosophy, one that I can honestly say I disagree with. However, calling someone a moron while inserting words into an article is also something I disagree with.
I am not asking you to leave, but I am asking you to do this - look at how you react when people inpugn on you, just refrain from striking back. When someone says "troll" just ignore it. You will find that not responding with negative force might help out the image of you in RationalWiki, and might give you more leeway in asking for changes. ĵ₳¥ášÇ♠ʘ defenestratable Hondas overthrow me... 14:36, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
It may be called vandal bin, but surely, its use should not necessarily be confined to vandals. Until now, I didn't get involved in the whole MC-debate, but I want to state that I think that the vandal bin is a very apt place for MC to be in. If MC is insulted by the label, let's rebrand it: deep thinker drawer? goat free zone? That should make MC happy!

I was named (Hence boxed away) a troll by you for objecting to Ann Coulter's indulgent characterisation as a 'historical revisionist'. The mental illness stunt was simply a venting of frustration in order to allow you lot to simply dismiss me on the grounds of insanity, if for only a while. So in other words I became troll temporarily because I was constantly being accused of being a troll. MarcusCicero 20:04, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
That's pretty weak soup, Marcus. Especially given I was hardly alone in calling you a troll and you'd already been trolling a good deal before that. The mental illness fake-out took me a bit by surprise, honestly, since it was a lot more serious than what you had been doing to that point. --Kels 13:59, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
The only reason I did it was so I could come right out of leftfield. I do know it was a bad thing to do, even on the internet. And what trolling? Where do you get off saying that? MarcusCicero 18:31, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Seriously, it's hard to look at your edit history and think anything but. --Kels 21:23, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Hahaha I didn't know about this! Oh my sweet schlafly, this is too good!

Fuck You.[edit]

You seem to think that by reading what we write in the context of our online personas that you are entitled to have some pretty strong ideas about what kind of people we are in "real life," and some of the things you have said about me and others is downright hurtful. Maybe it's the nature of the medium, and perhaps this a case of "pot--kettle--black," (the internet lends itself to treating people like they're not real people, and I'm probably as guilty of that as a lot of people) but your recent crackback--implying that I somehow am too dim-witted to appreciate intellectual activity for its own sake--really got on my tits. So fuck off, MC. You're being mean-spirited, petty, disruptive, and worst of all, No Fun. TheoryOfPractice 23:29, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

I love that song by Sex Pistols. No Fun. I tried to embed it here but it's such a fucking pain trying to embed YouTube videos. So instead I took the liberty of replicating the song lyrics here for your reading pleasure, MC. I hope you enjoy.
No fun, my babe, no fun.
No fun, my babe, no fun.
No fun to hang around,
Feeling that same old way.
No fun to hang around,
Freaked out for another day.
No fun, my babe, no fun,
No fun, my babe, no fun,
No fun to be alone,
Walking by myself.
No fun to be alone,
In love with nobody else.
Well, maybe go out,
Maybe stay home.
Maybe call Moum on the telephone.
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
Well, come on, well, come on
No fun to be alone
No fun to be alone
Hang on, don't let me go
No fun to be alone.

I am unapologetic. The beauty of the internet is that we are free to speak our minds free of social decorum by virtue of our anonymity, and I get to be as sharp and critical as I like (Which is impossible to do in RL) I have seen comments like that a few times from you which truly baffled me; hence, I find it very clear that you are too dimwitted to appreciate intellectual activity for its own sake. MC, we are free to speak our minds, but we're still subject to the effects. Social rules vary, but ultimately a jerk is still a jerk, offline or online. I feel that with Marcus it is best to get past the anger that his language and demeanour generates and see him for what he is, a constant and unending supply of humour. He's like one of those wind up dolls where you pull a string and they 'speak'. As with the dolls the list of utterances is limited but, in his case, it is also peppered with obscenities. I really feel that there's a win/win situation here. We prop up his fragile ego by giving him a community where he can feel superior whilst we get the laughs. That's a deal I'd buy into any day. Hello[edit]

As a relatively new person in RW, I have some difficulties with understanding some aspects of RW. Besides my puzzlement over people whose focus is allegedly rational thinking, but who are actually uploading pictures of the food they last ate, I don't understand phenomenons like MarcusCicero. Can someone sum it up in few words? All I see is a relatively unfunny person who has nothing really-really interesting to say, and yet the "recent changes" looks like fossil records of his talk page. I'm simply confused. --Earthland 18:50, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

My purpose here is to point out the ludicrousness of having a website call itself a 'champion of rationality', while concurrently posting up pictures of the latest food they ate. There is also the institutional idiocy and adherence to crank ideas, but thats a different story. MarcusCicero 18:56, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
He just hates the idea of the fact that we trade jibs and jabs and happen to enjoy eachother's company over the internet. Troll ĵ₳¥ášÇ♠ʘ do do da de do da de 18:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
As we are a loose community people enjoy sharing recipes, furnishings etc hence the pics of dinner. We also share tips on brewing and other community activities. Marcus seems to think, well I am not sure what he thinks we should be doing however as a social group we do more than merely report on things. Marcus cannot get involved as he has no life to share. Aceof Spades 19:10, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
To Marcus: Is rationalwiki calling itself a "champion of rationality"? RW has some very good articles, especially those concerning creationism and conservapedia. I hate those goat jokes in articles that should be or even are meant to be serious, for example the article "Large Hadron Collider". But so what? RW is not an encyclopedia, all in all. And you're not really doing a good job to achieve your goal.--Earthland 19:14, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
You are quite right Earthland and personally, although it is an old joke, I have never got into the whole "goat" thing myself but "So what?" is right on the money. RW is RW and never states to be a "champion of rationality". It is a community of like minded individuals of which Marcus is not one but for some reason he sticks around. Perhaps he has no where else to go. Aceof Spades 19:24, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Well we might be a champion of rationality but we don't claim to be the champion. RationalWiki was set up first and foremost as a community of like-minded individuals who happened to subscribe to a rational world-view and happened to meet through Conservapedia. We know that we're not Wikipedia so our articles will never be as in-depth with facts and references but we use the wiki-format to do things that WP doesn't do and then do other things in a different way. Any collaborative work needs to have a fun element so that people stick around. MC objects to the saloon bar but it's like going to the pub after a political meeting or three hours of the uni debating society. Redchuck.gif ГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 20:46, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Burnout[edit]

My glorious run has ended. This is not a case of 'leaving and never coming back', but more a case of 'burn out'. I created a personality on the internet so radically different from the real life version that I've forgotten even what trolls remorse feels like.. (You can thank Refugee over on RWW for providing the impetus)

My highlights on RW:

Making loads of people mad, especially Ace, Susan, Jeeves (Hi Jeeves! Wanker) and also Kels.

Doing my best to persuade half of you that I 'was a dick who has something worthwhile to say', while really just being a dick and doing my best to annoy as many people as possible.

Continuously rejecting the label of troll; even though I was the most transparent 'concern troll' in history.

Riding the wave of mock grievance; So many times you put me on the centre stage with a semi reasonable grievance and I made sure to maximise the fallout as much as possible.

Pretending to be a scholar (I know fuck all)

One regret:

Stooping to do the mental illness stunt. That was a terrible miscalculation.

Adios RW! I may pop in from time to time, but at least now you'll know for sure than I'm a fully fledged troll! MarcusCicero 19:48, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

If you need time to make several edits efficiently while adding to your essays let me know by pmail or my user talk page and I'll de-vandal you for the "duration". In order to avoid having pitchforks puncturing my buttocks, you understand I will then re-vandal you, after all, you did do those silly page deletions. Why bother? So it takes longer for him to crap on the page, so what? I don't recall part of RW's mission being "making life easier for admitted concern trolls and vandals". --Kels (talk) 05:11, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I thought one of RW's founding goals was to protest CP's blocking of everybody with a contrary POV? Unblocking someone long enough so they can state that POV seems entirely fair and sensible to me. If he abuses it, then that's the price this site pays for being genuinely open. –SuspectedReplicantretire me 05:29, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that's why we have the vandal bin, "This is a cute trick as it allows RW to, in effect, infinitely ban vandals - while at the same time maintaining their liberal credentials and not actually banning them at all. It other words it allows RW sysops to chemically castrate users while maintaining that they technically are still able to use their testicles." [2]. MC can keep posting his essays from the bin, there's no need to unbin him. -- Nx / talk 12:19, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Since MarcusCicero isn't around to say it himself, I will attempt to channel his trolling spirit: it's my impression that very little that happens here is actually related to RW's stated mission, so who cares whether this is part of it or not? --TheRealMarkGall (talk) 05:41, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
You are welcome to help rectify this perceived shortage of on-mission activity. Surely you could help us improve our mathematics articles, or make new articles about mathematics cranks? Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 05:50, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Taking my lead from Conservapedia:Parodist, I only want to "point out [RW]'s stupidities without helping it". I'm sure I could improve your math articles, but based on Talk:Delta function, nobody here knows whether math articles are on-mission, so it would seem a waste of my time. Besides, I can't think of any reason for someone to come here for math in the first place; CP, in contrast, aspires to be a reasonably comprehensive encyclopedia, so it's conceivable that someone might actually want to read a math article there.
I've never found mathematics cranks particularly interesting, but if you ever want my input on an article I'll be happy to pitch in. --TheRealMarkGall (talk) 06:22, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
"Helping it" refers to inserting more stupididty, not improving the site. A lot of people here tried to improve Conservapedia, for example the math articles. Their contributions were thrown out because they made Ed Poor look not so smart as he would like to believe, or they didn't fit into Andy's ideology. And the first users of RW were CP editors who approached Conservapedia with good faith (even if they disagreed with it), tried to improve it, but were banned for ideological reasons.
As for not being on-mission, yes that is correct, we don't have delusions of grandeur like CP, and we're not trying to be a general purpose encyclopedia. We already have Wikipedia for that. -- Nx / talk 12:14, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
We're a small community, here. We do socialize a lot, since in large part we're here to have fun. We laugh at goings-on at Conservapedia and A Storehouse of Knowledge and elsewhere, chit-chat in the Saloon Bar, and engage in really silly block-wars and the like. But then we also have some truly excellent articles that are quite on-topic. I have written numerous ones myself, most lately Everlasting No - which in fact serves as a good example. But I don't think any of us would work much on anything if we didn't also love the fun that pervades the place. It's the thing that builds our community. If that's not for you, maybe RW isn't either, and that's fair enough.--Tom Moorefiat justitia 07:02, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

MC's prior actions dictate that he requires either vandalbinning or babysitting, and if Human has so much free time that he's willing to take on the latter, well, that works for me. Fedhaji (Talk) 10:26, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

If this works out, I wonder if Human might be willing to pay MC for his valuable time and the contribution he makes to the site. Sysopship and 'Cratship, ahoy! --Kels (talk) 12:30, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
The only reason I offered is that if he adds another essay, he should at least link to it from the intro. So even if he completely edits the new one off-line (easy enough to use preview to tweak it), it makes sense that he might need to make several edits in rapid succession. In the unlikely event of him taking me up on my offer, I'll just unbin him and watch his contribs like a hawk. The basic assumption is that he'd be done in minutes and could then be rebinned. Of course, if he plans carefully, he could add a redlink, then go write it and save it in half an hour, I suppose. Also, there's nothing to stop other people from adding inter-essay links as he adds them. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:26, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

What the fuck, jesus mother on a stake - just fucking vandal bin him and leave it that. Why do does have to be debated ad nasuem without resolve. Nail that nail and lets get on with the pointless activities we call life. I mean, fuck. I am bemused by the sedentary attitude and unwillingness to deal with it and just, you know, move the fuck on. Why such pantomime? (etc etc - repeat and grumble) Aceof Spades 06:28, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

We're a group of people dedicated to being rational and with a wiki about it, which makes us even more conscientious about it. Additionally, many of us are liberal and have nontraditional religious beliefs, which makes us even more conscientious about the sanctity of every person's right to criticize. So we willingly bend over backwards over and over to make sure that sanctity is paramount, even if it means we put up with a lot of crap from assholes like him.
To my way of thinking, it's not such a bad thing. There are far worse sins than to be going to every length to make sure dissent is heard.
That said, his ass is staying in the bin until the end of time.--Tom Moorefiat justitia 06:56, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
The thing about MC and his essays are that they are not his POV. We are not stopping him expressing his real opinions in any way. Why not? Read his confession above. "I was the most transparent 'concern troll' in history" A concern troll does not express its views - it invents views in an attempt to manipulate other users in a negative way. Given that he describes his activities in this way I can't see why anybody would wring their hands about him having difficulty doing continuing with these activities. --BobNot Jim 07:44, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Given what was said above, surely you are capable of tolerating trolling with a little grounding in truth. I am a concern troll, who doesn't care how you deal with my 'concerns', but my 'concerns' are grounded in truth. Which is why it makes you mad. If I was saying absolutely nothing worthwhile you would simply laugh me off and not rise to me in any way. The fact that you do displays your insecurities

And also, me being in the vandal bin is absurd. I am no vandal, I deleted those pages in the full knowledge that they would be reverted back. No malicious intent whatsoever; it was in the context of a block war I was getting bored with and took to the next level. MarcusCicero (talk) 12:32, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

You're right. I went to the shopping mall today and shouted at passers-by telling them they're dick-headed cunts, and then I smashed a few shop windows (which doesn't matter because they'll get replaced really quickly) and yet I got thrown out of the mall and banned. What gives? I was just having some fun. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 12:52, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
A concern troll has no interest in truth - only the appearance of truth to cause disruption.
All vandals naturally know that their vandalism will be reverted. No vandal expects their vandalism to be permanent. Saying "I knew it would be reverted therefore it isn't vandalism" is the lamest excuse imaginable.--BobNot Jim 13:17, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Every now and then I see someone announcing that they are an agent of karmic retribution. Saying so is an almost sure guarantee of not being one. Along similar lines, it takes a pretty narcissistic view to proclaim you are just harassing RW for its own good. Got a lot of respect for Human's energy here, me, but I disagree that letting you out of the vandal bin is anything near a good thing, even on brief paroles. You can edit all you want offline, and toss in your "contributions" at the rate of two an hour. It is for your own good, you see, and will build character. And enough with the whining about not being a vandal; you need to get beyond the names of things. The vandal bin is not just for vandals, and it's a pretty good fit for the likes of you. Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 13:42, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
He only whines to soften up Human or another crat enough to let him out of the bin before going on one of his "RAAAAHH LET JESUS FUCK YOU" rampages. I vote to keep him in the bin permanently. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 15:11, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I vote keep him binned, and don't fall for his "woe is me, let me out" bullshit again by keeping him there. I also think we should de-crat anyone who makes him a sysop again. He's had the powers, at least, 2 times and has shown he can't handle them. The Goonie Punk Can't sleep, clowns will eat me! 15:19, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Something I've been meaning to mention is that someone needs to pull together a good link to the logs showing his page deletion vandalism in case it comes up again in 3 months. Is that thing about his crazy brother a template? (Probably) If so, the link should be added to it. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:37, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

I say that MC has one too many chances. Can we just start an AA case against him, fake a trial, rig the jury, and ban him? Jesus[edit]

Whether I admit to being a troll or not is completely seperate to whether I am vandal or not. The vandalism came at the end of a dragged on block war and I thought it would be good fun to take it to the next level, knowing I would be both punished and that the articles would be reverted. They were random page articles for Christs sake. I had sysop powers for so long, and I never vandalised? Why do you think that is? Call me a vandal if it makes you feel better but you're only deluding yourselves. MarcusCicero (talk) 16:45, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Marcus, you are either lying or deluded. You did vandalize, and therefore you are a vandal. That is why you were binned. Tetronian you're clueless 16:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I live in the land of ice hockey, where if you check someone in "good fun to take it to the next level," you need to be ready for them to take it to further levels you might not like. Life goes on, and most folks don't care one way or the other. Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 17:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

This is absurd, do you take pride in deluding yourselves? Considering I had sysop powers and I only went on one rampage, this makes CONTEXT KEY. Be as ridiculous as you want but branding me a vandal is childish, to say the least. Look at it like this: With the power of words I made Jeeves and Susan go away and come back under new usernames, I made at least four or five users threaten a childish 'leaving and never coming back' thing and caused no end of aggro and splits over me personally. Using just words I did all this. Why would I need to vandalise? Can you at least rename the bin and call it something else? Us trolls hold vandals in contempt. MarcusCicero (talk) 13:28, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

MC, you may be right about not being a vandal by traditional standards, but since you are a troublemaking troll (which even you admit) then that is sufficient reason to keep you binned. Tetronian you're clueless 13:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

It would be funny. As long as he stays in the vandal bin.--Tom Moorefiat justitia 01:48, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

I genuinely despair. TomMoore has crossed the rubicon and reason has abandoned him. He no longer is capable of placing actions in their context or of thinking with an independent mind free of whatever group dynamics he's trapped in. It is with glorious ease that I can get around the vandal bin if I so desire; we need a trial to clear the air and establish the exact reasons for me being in the bin. Because despite Moore's felicitations to his compatriots, it doesn't stand up to reason. His newly invented meme forgets the context within which those actions took place. He is a coward and fool, in short.

You're in the vandal bin because you vandalized numerous pages by deleting them. There's not a whole lot of mystery about it. If you want to see the pages, you can see the infobox above. And I am delighted that, yes, it is a brand-new meme. Somehow that's so much more poetic than anything else I can do.--Tom Moorefiat justitia 02:02, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
It is pretty ironic. You spent your time here campaigning against memes, yet now you are one. Tetronian you're clueless 02:04, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

(UD) I don't have a dog in this fight. At all. In fact, there's been enough negative energy around all this nonsense that I stay away from RW when Recent Changes gets clogged. It is for that reason alone that I wish for more effective policies in place for dealing with a fellow inclined to make trouble and the untoward behavior he incites in others. People binning and blocking, others coming along to unbin and unblock, it's all a painful sideshow that was made worse by the decision to demote then promote. I don't really care whether MC contributes substantively or not, nor do I care whether he likes memes or any other part of the culture here, as neither is a prerequisite to participating here. Even his refusal to participate except on his terms would normally be something the wiki could adapt to. I do care that his shenanigans seem to bring out the worst out in some prolific members. Something needs to give. Since it will always be too easy to vandalize this wiki and generally make a nuisance of yourself, it's not going to be MC (as he promises). There has to be a better way. Maybe a trial is in order. I'm not hopeful that we could agree on the rules. There's no central form of leadership here to impose even simple rules of procedure by fiat and I envision attempts to do so getting shouted down as tyranny as quickly as unilateral decisions to bin/unbin/block/unblock. But at some point even a community of anarchists needs rules. We've gotten to the point where we can't agree on how to approach the possibility of expelling someone who's made a minor mission of causing trouble and who isn't generally well-regarded. MC deserves due process (literally whatever process is due) but I'm not hopeful we can agree on what it is or should be. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 02:22, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, well, I'll not hold my hopes up. But all I know is that their charge is fucking absurd. I mean, I was a member here for years and a sysop for many months, and I have no history of vandalism. I've wrote an explanation on RWW. I don't care other than about the principle of being called a vandal; its very annoying, and the pompous windbag Tom Moore is getting a great opportunity to wiggle his tail and purr up to his masters on RW, who truly treat him as the sub human sycophant he is. Considering how long I've been here and how much worse my trolling could have been, the charge of vandalism is a little too much to bear as it is as dishonest as it is childish. MarcusCicero (talk) 02:28, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Well as someone who also has no opinion on Marcus Cicero way or the other and who is an (albeit unemployed for the moment) lawyer, I am willing, should MC agree, to offer my services as an adjudicator on all matters of fact and rules. I would be impartial, if nothing else. --DamoHi 02:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
(EC) I'm not sure how useful a trial would be. What we really need is to decide on a flexible yet practical policy for trolls & vandals. Trying MC would only create a policy for his particular case. But if there is enough interest in a trial then we should do it. Tetronian you're clueless 02:34, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
We have one. The vandal bin, with the possibility of parole if someone can prove that they're not there for good resson. MC vandalized once, was binned and paroled, vandalized again. End of story. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 02:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Caveat: I don't take a position on whether MC was or was not properly binned. If this stands out as inconsistent with anything I've said previously I apologize. Now on to my point. We really don't have much of a coherent policy on vandal binning. I should have been desysopped and vandal binned ages ago. I routinely put pictures of dicks on my friends' userpages. Dear Marcus.[edit]

I don't know why you've persisted in the past few weeks and months in trying to tear apart this community. Maybe you really care about it and want to see it reach the kind of lofty goals that we set out for ourselves in the top-left-hand corner of the mainpage. If so, you are incredibly naive--few collective efforts rise to the goals they set out for themselves.

Maybe you're just a bully, the kind of kid who made my childhood and adolescence unbearable. Maybe you're a fundamentally cruel human being, the kind of guy who likes pulling the wings off of flies. Maybe your feigned mental illness wasn't so feigned after all. Maybe you're TK. Maybe you're just an asshole. It really doesn't matter.

'Cause you don't matter. 'Cause what you are to me right now is just another bit of evidence backing up a reading of the world as a fundamentally crappy place and of people as fundamentally mean, spiteful, and selfish beings. You found some weaknesses and kept exploiting them, poking at them and rubbing against them for no other reason than because it made you feel good. Why should I expect more of anybody?

I love this place. My work involves lots and lots of lonely hours of reading and writing, and being able to procrastinate by sharing some virtual time with people who were smarter than me and funnier than me was a highlight of my day. Pathetic maybe, but there it is. I learned a lot here, and was often brought to fits of laughter by the truly clever people who make up the bulk of this community. Good times. But you set out to take that apart, and, at least for now, it would seem you've pretty much succeeded. But don't feel too good about your accomplishment. It's an ugly world full of ugly people, and you are just one of them. If it hadn't've been you, it would've been somebody else.--Paul (TheoryOfPractice).

I find this post kind of revealing and speaks a lot about you. I too share your misanthropy Paul, otherwise I wouldn't bother with RW. My favourite book in the world is 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' - if you know what this book is about it should tell you quite a lot about me. The real question you need to ask is; 'How am I tearing away at anything?' What have I actually done in the last couple of days to warrant this kind of reaction? Have I threatened anyone? Have I bullied anyone? Have I committed any crimes? Have I directly hurt anyone? (How could I, you are all anonymous to me) In reality all I do is poke fun at a group of people on the internet. You say I re-inforce your belief that the world is fundamentally a crappy place - why then, are you a member of RW? How can you be so self righteous, like you are the eternally trampled victim of rapist mobs? RW is fundamentally bigoted and irrational, it targets groups of otherwise very nice people on account of their religious beliefs. Do you think you can just ignore this? Do you think you can just sprout your histrionic victim bullshit above and forget your and this websites own failings?
It is precisely because I am a misanthrope that I come here to re-inforce the idea that there is always a better way. Mankind doesn't always have to settle for being bullish, unintelligent, brash, or bigoted. RW doesn't have to be religious bigots. When you work out why it is that I go out of my way to mock you, please respond on this page.
You made it clear long, long ago that you weren't in this to protect those poor little religious people. I know I'm on sabbatical until this idiocy blows over, but I had to say that. Professor Moriarty 21:03, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not exclusively on some crusade to protect the religious, I am an admitted troll after all. But one thing that genuinely irks me is the irreligious' contempt for those of religious belief. Its a self satisfied, smug, and downright mean position to take. And it makes TOPs self victimisation a little hard to bear, to be honest. If he can prove to me that he's there the perfect person then he's free to use the victim card. In reality, he's just as guilty as the rest of you for making 'an ugly world full of ugly people'.
Oh, poor, poor, misunderstood Marcus. Only wishing to bring out the best in people, finding it so hard to understand the vitriol poured against him. My heart bleeds in sympathy. The last thing I will ever say to you[edit]

I've been wondering for a while hwo to classify you. You are a troll, yes. But, like TheoryOfPracice, I've been wondering for forfuckingever just exactly how to classify you as an internet personality.

So, let me dwell on that which you are not. You are not an internet vandal. They would've done their damage and then left. You are no average troll, as they would've been gone after throwing us into HCM the first time. You are certainly not interested in "helping this wiki," as I've read everything you've said both here and at RWW. So, that leaves the question as to just how I'd classify you.

So what are you? How would I classify you? Well, TheoryOfPractice was close when he wondered if you ar e a bully. You are a bully, but a special kind. In my opinion, you are our version of an abusive husband. You sit here complaining without any reasonable offer as to how to help us. You then move to attacking our editors personally and, when they get wise to your bullshit, you play the victim and get all emotional; begging us to let you back into our lives. When some gullible editors do decide to let you back, you then continue this cycle of abuse.

You accuse us of hypocrisy. Newsflash: humanity is full of hypocrisy, because every rule has its exceptions. In my opinion, you are the exception to every rule here. You want to hear some hypocrisy? You accuse us of authoritarianism, and then, when people try to ignore you, you bully us all into taking drastic action. When we do, you play the victim, even though you know, as well as I do, they are playing into your game of being our version of an abusive husband. You play the victim, and, when someone like TheoryOfPractice feels victimized, you then accuse them of being the predator, even thought the fight started with you. You are the one who, when people told you to fuck off, couldn't resist to continue hurling insults, the vast bulk of which don't even qualify as constructive criticism in any ways/shapes/forms, and verbally abusing any and all contributors here. And, again, when you get called out and we collectively try to protect ourselves, you whine and go "Whoa is me!" Well, with all my heart, fuck off!

So, I dare you to call me out for blocking you. I will gladly give up any/all rights I have here if it means you fuck off. You have the personality of an abusive husband, and I won't let it stand any longer. I will not leave this site, because it is exactly what you want, and I will not give ou that sort of psychotic satisfaction. Instead, I will continue to oppose your presence here, even if every-other user here opposes me. I will also no longer acknowledge you exist, be it here or elsewhere. Leave me a message; I guarantee I won't respond, let alone give a shit.

Feel free to respond, but don't expect me to give a flying fuck. I know it sounds like an empy internet threat, but, this time, I am 100% serious. I am done with you. And I will do everything in my power to make sure you pay. -Gabe "The Gooniepunk"

P.S: if you knew me in real life, I'd have kicked your ass long ago. And that is the gospel truth

Goodpost.gif - π 12:12, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

I actually have gone but couldn't resist responding to this: Goonie, you are, without doubt, the most pathetic cretin on RW by a country mile. Block me if you want, I have left myself. Blocking me changes nothing. I can come back any time I want. The only point it proves is that you're determined to play the 'internet tough guy'. Whatever, do what you want you meathead. And less of this hard man shit; You are in real life a 'punk', the kind of kid who dresses up to shock his peers. Whatever, we get it, you're an individual (Even if that means conforming to some elite group which involves you taking a very strict day to day life code) and you're a tough guy.
Loose the chip on your shoulder mate, it only makes you look like a fool. Now good bye and allow me to leave in pieces with less of this girly emotional bullshit that I cause!

How does it feel??[edit]

Tell me, MC, how does it feel to be trolled by someone you drove away from this site and then, when I express my feelings about you, you say about me (somebody you probably wouldn't even remember) "P.S- to the IP; you are a self important imbecile who no-one cares about. Who gives a fuck if you are here or if you are not, go away and fuck off and stop playing the whiny martyr." Well, here is my response. Enjoy the trolling you've earned, and all the bullshit that comes along with it. -- L

To be honest, I couldn't give two flying fucks. 90% of the internetz are aspergers sufferers who don't have the capacity to grasp irony or wit. Add to that difficult melting pot an environment which only see's a couple of sentances thrown down on what is in effect a word processor. Anything you say to me is ludicrously inoffensive, since you only know the internet persona 'Marcus Cicero', but not the real person behind this fictional character. I enjoy poking at unwarranted self importance on the internet, I enjoy making reactions and playing my part in an elaborate pantomine. Do you not enjoy playing the villain?
I'm glad I drove somebody from this website. It gives me a great sense of personal satisfaction and the drive to work harder in the future. Thank you for this inspiring message! MarcusCicero (talk) 02:45, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
So, in other words, you suffer from Aspergers? I can't believe you actually bought that story above. It is true I'm here and I'm trolling you, but to think you bought that story.... wow! What a fucking tool you really are! TO TOM MOORE[edit]

Hello Tom,

I notice you enjoy placing this 'template' all over the place, thinking that it will annoy me. How wrong you are Tom. Indeed, the template does point out several truths, many of which are indisputable. It does, for example, state that I pretended to be my brother and declared that Marcus Cicero was taken away by the men in white cloaks. It does, also, display the reality that I did indeed delete six pages in a vandalism spree.

So what? Are you afraid of challenging the context of those incidents? The autocrats and fascists on RW insist on keeping me in the vandal bin. Like all human rights abusers, they feel their actions are for a 'greater good'. They are afraid of reason and all of the consequences a reasoned argument will bring on this wretched website.

Tell me, Tom, what is the opportunity cost of behaving like imbeciles on this website? How many intelligent people do the memes deter? How many reasoned, cultured, and honest men and women are revolted by this website because of its institutionalised idiocy? Its fear of reason? Its addiction to persecution? How many good men and women do you turn away every day, just because all of you have the combined maturity of a toddler frustrated of being stuck in his play pen? Afraid to answer these questions? Better leave me in the vandal bin. You wouldn't want anybody coming along and upsetting the status quo. You wouldn't anybody to come along to bring this idiocy infested webshite to the light of reason. You're afraid of the consequences my reason brings to this site, so you repress all arguments contrary to your overly comfertable group dynamics.

The cost of keeping me, your saviour, in the vandal bin are too high to joke around with. Release me Tom. It is in your power to do so. MarcusCicero (talk) 17:27, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

This is a shame. You're usually pretty clever and manipulative, managing to perpetuate a long cycle of troll-and-reveal. You're helped out by the nature of RW; we're very individual-minded and conscious-driven people for the most part, so cries of persecution always receive a sympathetic ear.
But it's just silly to appeal to me personally. Sure, I get a kick out of slapping you around - since you're just pathetic enough to be unable to leave RW without being so pathetic that I feel pity for you - but I've been naming your tune for a while now. The template is a good example of that. It would have been smarter for you to ignore me and put up your same reformer's shtick. I enjoy laughing at you enough that I would have eventually overdone it and gotten some criticism, making you look like the unjustly assaulted little guy.
Instead, this nonsense above?
And the worst thing for you is that I have enough self-control not to further reply, even when you try to spin up some more meta crap or the like. Whoopsie, huh? ;)

Your user page statement[edit]

Hi, I know I'm not here nearly often enough to judge what goes on, but your user page statement? Seriously? I understand that you might get angry at what goes on here sometimes, I don't deny I do. When someone mentioned Brittany Murphy's death on WIGO talk and wondered whether Conservapedia would comment, I thought okay, now we're as bad as them. But the first thing you ever said to me was idiot. You seem SO angry at everything and everyone. I like this site because sometimes its funny, sometimes its informative. Some of the articles have been really useful to me, especially those on arguments and fallacies. It might be very frustrating if you want the site to be one thing and others don't, but it doesn't necessarily make it a 'reign of disreason'. I think people may listen to you more if you weren't so aggressive, I know I would have. Of course, you might just enjoy stirring things up around here. --Seantalk 12:52, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

I hope we can work together and be the best of friends. Bob, you are dear to me indeed;

Away and alone, mind filled with overwhelming thoughts. The clouds roll in and the darkness corrupts the heavens above. I sit in fear, there is no way for myself to return, All hope seems to dwindle as sadist thoughts and macabre parasites infest center control. And just as all seems lost, I see you, An angel? No you are far too magnificent.

Then what are you?

You are, my insanity, my drug to fight morbid.

Say something nice about my eyes. -- =w= 01:49, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Your eyes Mei - where can I begin to describe your eyes? The superlative doesn't begin to cover it, but I'll try! When I look into your eyes, I see a world of precious things. Lying warmly beside you beneath the night skies, Love is safely contained in your angel wings. You've clearly touched me deep within my heart, Only showing all the joyful love we possess. Uncoil the rough twine that has kept us apart, Making my only journey for you a success. Although absence of you gives me such heartache, Remember the times we're side by side, Remember the long walks along the lake You'll forever remain my only true love.
This is an original poem, by me, for you. Don't mock my simple abilities with the English verse, my heart can barely take it. If some level of that poem is pleasing to you, I shall spend a thousand sleepless nights basking in the mystery that must be your beautiful face, your beautiful eyes... Your beautiful soul. My lovely Mei, your preciousness cannot be measured in gold or precious jewels. It cannot be countenanced by mere human reason or love. The grace of your gaze impowers a transcendental state of divine perfection; only within the glowering furore of the majesty of the cosmos can I begin to understand the complex mystique that lurks behind that veil of mystery.
O Mei! How I adore you! How I worship the very earth you stand on, humbled by your mere presence here! Come to me Mei, and allow us to live a thousand lives, in a thousand souls, throughout the waves of civilisation. Give me but one moment of your grace and I shall be your slave for eternity. The lay of Humans ageing cheek bones[edit]

Such noble features, that face protects. A fount of wisdom and long gone youth... I find myself... in awe of the memories that it must contain; battles and marriages and funerals and all of lifes wonderous diversity. And herein I compose the lay. The lay of Human's ageing cheek bones. It has a curiously Irish edge, and talks about Humans ageing cheeck bones as if they were battered by domestic violence, I hope you like it;

The Minister for Justice wearing a new fur coat
Yesterday opened a home for battered husbands:
Present were leading farmers and greyhound-owners
As well as respectable solicitors with their mistresses.
When the Minister cut the tape to the new home
Several battered husbands could be seen cringing
On the staircase in tear-stained cardigans
And cracked slippers; and the stairs looked
As though they had received a liberal sprinkling
Of dandruff and cigarette ash. A spokesman for the husbands said:
We are relieved to have at last got a place of our own;
Several of the men are pregnant and the security
Which the new home will provide, is for them
A welcome boon. Asked as to what kind of injury
The husbands suffered from, the spokesman said that frayed nerves
Are the major ailment and further inspection revealed
Loose nerve-ends dangling from eye-sockets and cheek-bones.
It was also stated that in order to protect the men
From the wrath of wives
A team of Limerick ban-gardai - known as the heavy gang -
Will be on twenty-four-hour duty outside the new home. MarcusCicero (talk) 11:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I've got a great idea...[edit]

Hey Marcus, I've got a great idea and I thought that I'd bounce it off of you to see what you think. So I've found this website; it's really small and almost nobody reads it (its Alexa ratings are a joke) but it seems to have a dedicated, core constituency of people who for the most part get along and appear to enjoy each other's company. The website's main page makes some hifalutin' claims about things like politics, religion and science, and there's actually quite a bit of decent stuff on those topics scattered throughout the site. At the same time, these folks seem to spend a lot of time hanging out, chatting, making "in" jokes and repeating Internet memes--you know, stuff that any typical online community tends to do.

While some members of the website in question have been around longer than others and seem to have a little more "say" by virtue of their seniority, in actual fact the the community sort of lacks a defined sense of conflict resolution and tends to let things just happen--keep that in mind, it's pretty important for my plan.

So here's what I thought I would do. I figured I'd take out an account at the website in question, and try to sow discord among these people, mostly by insulting them in such a way as to exploit the fact that whatever rules that the website has about community standards are difficult to enforce. I figure I could take out any number of sock accounts, or even edit as a BON if need be--the worst that they'll do to me is make me wait a little bit between edits. I figure that by doing things like repeatedly insulting members' intelligence, body weight, career choices, virility and other such things, and by making them argue with each other over how to deal with the problem, that eventually the website in question will no loger be a fun place to go to. Doesn't that sound like a blast? I mean, really, how better to prove what a great guy I am, right?

Bear in mind that I'm actually a reasonably intelligent fellow with a decent sense of humour persuing a post-graduate history degree dealing with politics in the first part of the twentieth century, and I come from a country where religion and politics have intersected in really interesting ways, so I could probably go with the flow over there and contribute in both a fun and productive way, but really, what good would ever come of that, right?

So whaddaya think?

P-Foster (talk) 16:28, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I actually quite like you. And I don't hold malicious views about anyone on this site. In fact, even people like Nx, RA etc. are fine. I'm sure they're grand. I have no problems with RW.

On the other hand, the temptation to shake the ant farm and watch them scurrying to each others aid is far too great to overcome. I recommend you try to interpret me not as a living, conscious entity, but instead as an automoton, a fictional creation, a J.G. Farrel character of nauseating proportions. A question for you...[edit]

What, if anything do you know about the scholarship on the question of British colonialism in Ireland as a model/laboratory for the larger colonial project--especially as it related to the creation of the Irish as racialised/non-white subjects? P-Foster (talk) 16:52, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

There is, as far as I know, little scholarship that examines British Colonialism in Ireland in the manner that you describe. The only book I can think of off the top of my head might be Luke Gibbons, 'Edmund Burke and Ireland' (NOT the one by T.H. Mahony, though it is also a fine book. Both are American historians)
Charles Townhend's (British Historian) 'Political Violence in Ireland' examines the rise of 'counter-colonialism' and militant Republicanism. 'Colonialism' can't really be applied to Ireland as it does to India, or any of the African colonies. Its much more complex than that because the English/Norman/British influence in Ireland goes back to medieval times. Though David Dickson wrote a wonderful study of the Province of Munster as an English colony/plantations in Ireland (Well contrasted with the largely Scottish presbyterian colonies/plantations in Ulster). Actually the more I think about it, Dickson is probably the man to go for. I'll have a think about this and will get back to you tomorrow if I can recall any more works relevant to your field. Could you be a bit more specific though? Colonialism is an inherently subjective word and I'm not satisfied it can be completely applied to Ireland or whether there was ever really any real direction from london outside of very specific set piece events (Such as the Laois/Offaly plantations, the Ulster Plantations, The Cromwellian settlement etc. etc.) MarcusCicero (talk) 17:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for this, MC. The question comes after my reading a book called 'Black Marxism' by a guy named Cedric Robinson. Part of his argument is tied to exactly what you bring up--the longue durée of British involvement in Eire: he argues that the British, in order to justify control of the people and territory, needed to create the Irish as inherently inferior/essentially unfit to govern themselves, and that it's there that we can start to see the roots of modern racism as a justification for colonial/imperial projects based on the idea of inherent difference. It's precisely because the Brits were in Ireland way before they were in India/Africa/the West Indies, etc. that I want to think more about how they might have transferred ideas about difference and rule from the Irish experience to their more modern colonial ventures. P-Foster (talk) 22:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I understand now. I remember my first day of university when our lecture declared = 'Beware of the Marxists!. Saved me quite a bit of angst, that.
Seriously though, he would have an argument if there actually was some kind of groundplan from the Brits from the get-go. They didn't need a justification of that kind, they had it in the form of the 25% of the population who were non Catholic and loyal to the Empire. Furthermore, the Brits always held the attitude that 'The Irish aren't fit to govern themselves'. This, I think, moved some of our greater minds in the 20th century to revolution. It was a source of burning resentment from Sean Lemass, who oversaw the doubling our economy between the 50s and 70s in his role as finance minister and taoiseach (Prime Minister)
The racialist notions of British superiority were not government led, and many Prime Ministers despised the prevailing post Darwinian theories of racial demarcation (Namely Gladstone, and even, quite surprisingly, the ultra Tory Peel) Racialism was the intellectual excretion of a dominant body politic and Empire, but I wouldn't read too much into it. You can find some of the old Punch cartoons online I'm sure - the Irish paddy was often portrayed as little more than an ape. MarcusCicero (talk) 09:59, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

PIE[edit]

I like pie too. It's good for throwing in a clown's face. WéáśéĺóíďWeaselly.jpgMethinks it is a Weasel 20:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

The "MarcusCicero" at Lumeniki and Metapedia[edit]

Someone has registered the account "MarcusCicero" at Lumeniki. They claim that the MarcusCicero from Metapedia is not them. Are "you" the MarcusCicero from Lumeniki? ~ Lumenos 00:07, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

(By the way, Referata has been having a lot of downtime lately so I'm considering moving Lumeniki to Wiki-site. Wiki-site currently has an old version of Lumeniki1. ~ Lumenos 00:07, 27 July 2010 (UTC) )

Yes. You are a strange man. Leave now and spread the good word - fight for my release and for the liberties of Rationalwikians. Free me from the shackles that restrain my freedom. I am banned and binned and deserve the rights of everyone else here. MarcusCicero (talk) 22:50, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I can join your reform society![edit]

But first you have to remove Susan from the "fascist scum" list. --Idiot number 59 (talk) 05:06, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I dedicated my new poem to you[edit]

I wanted to burnish my pottery writing skills. This one is called "To MC with love"

Everyone says: "Oh, MC, he's just a trolling king"
"La la la", they sing
for everyone must ignore him

Block him, bin him
mock him, screw him

We all hate Marcus
Yeah, we all hate Marcus

He came up with a reform society
And showed a lot of anxiety
But very little sobriety
And even less propriety
Although his socks are of great variety

Block him, bin him
mock him, screw him

He hates David Gerard
who is almost as big retard
So I suppose that's a good thing
But no peace it will bring

Block him, bin him
mock him, screw him

He makes a witty sock
and earns another block
But we're all in shock
when he's back to mock

Block him, bin him
mock him, screw him

We all hate Marcus
Yeah, we all hate Marcus

Well done Idiot Number 59. I find it amusing that everyone assumes that you are my sock. You have a fine talent.
If you want to join my Reform Society, you're going to have to accept that SusanG is in fact, fascist scum. 86.40.195.174 (talk) 10:49, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
You do realize that if you continue using such insulting words about the woman who I love most in the world, you soon find that I am a true nightmare for you. As my poem says, screw you. --Idiot number 59 (talk) 11:03, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Fascist Scum[edit]

I cannot tell you how honoured I am to have risen to the heights where you consider me fascist scum. I wear that badge with pride. Jack Hughes (talk) 13:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm glad you like it. when the revolution comes, you'll be among the first to be exiled to wikipedia. 86.40.221.229 (talk) 13:45, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Stuff[edit]

I expect that you will get some flak about your change of direction but if you are truly serious about a change of heart then do not be diverted. Redchuck.gif ГенгисOur ignorance is God; what we know is science. 22:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I fully expect some flak. Trolling RW long ago reached its saturation point for me and besides, I've found a new website to torture. From now on its endless historical digressions from me. MarcusCicero (talk) 22:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Well i think it's bullshit but that's just me. Carry on. AceX-102 22:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
I suppose bad faith is to be expected. MarcusCicero (talk) 22:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
I'll just never like nor trust you because you have been nothing but an asshole. But again, that's just my opinion. AceX-102 22:48, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
