FFS Doggy, give it another chance!  Lily Inspirate me. 21:30, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Dude, what the fuck are you talking about. Your posts are still there. Occasionaluse (talk) 21:37, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

For what it's worth, he's not completely insane; Nx hid one revision of the chicken coop today. (talk) 21:38, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
But not anywhere near his posts. As I have pointed out, DogP, nobody deleted anything in that section. Blue (pester) 21:40, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I completely agree and apologize for the accusation. Doesn't change my desire to LANCB though. DogP (talk) 21:41, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
DogP you were a sockmaster extraordinaire. Unfortunately with the influx of kids and diks the adults are no longer able to self-manage. Take a breather but do come back. Redchuck.gif ГенгисRationalWiki GOLD member 21:45, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
The problem is that in many cases the adults are the one's acting like kids, and by my timeline this HCM started with one such case. This is not the sort of behaviour I would expect from a grown man. EddyP Great King! Disaster! 21:48, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes EddyP, especially considering that edits like that defy the "undo" feature, and completely ruin the wiki for all visitors. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:53, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Now would you not?[edit]

It is a tradition. On every wiki that I have joined, I always attempt to challenge the members on some policy that they have shortly after I come about (They encouraged me for my eagerness). I am not a "moralizing" individual; no different than all of the other progressive liberal advocates of "political correctness." How dare I challenge the status quo, you say? It is almost laughable when you said "Grow some f***ing manners!" Reminds me of those conservatives that I used to debate on political forums that would school me on morality while using similar language. You were going to leave even if I wasn't here. It is quite humorous; you went out of your way to be rude to me, and though I have not slandered you, you couldn't take it! I encourage you to reconsider. User: Lefty

Come on back[edit]

Yeah, I know it's been miserable for a bit, but Trent's working on the problems, and the only way to get the wiki back is to band a bunch of level headed folks together against the madness. If we all run away from it, RW will just fall into a further hole. Yes, the old timers ain't around much (I miss the old days), but maybe we can do a project or something, and get some interest back to the actual wiki and not the governance shit. Think about it. steriletalk 01:15, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. No guarantees but let's hope. steriletalk 01:57, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I have climbed down off my high LANCB horse and returned. Meh. DogP (talk) 22:16, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

I am with you on this one[edit]

All this bureaucratic nonsense is ruining the fun. I plan to ignore it all and carry on as normal. Aceace 22:48, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

And that's why you're an anachronism. All this bureaucratic nonsense is meant to keep fun. What isn't fun is bullies and trolls taking shits on people.--User:Brxbrx/sig 22:52, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh fuck off Brxbrx - all you 'Rules & Regulations' wonks seem to want is walls and walls of shitebag text everywhere. It's just wankstains all over this site these days with all this pathetic bullshit. It really is. Go get a fucking life, asshats. Ace is no anachronism - he's the life and soul of the place, as was Human, who has also been made to bugger off to leave you dry fucks to run the soulless gaff. What the fuck have you ever actually contributed here, Mr. B's and X's, huh? Nuthin, thats what. Write a fucking good WIGO, get some drugs in you, chug some whiskey and let rip - there's no place for shitebag rules and regulations here. Anarchy is what made this site great, not rules. DogP (talk) 22:57, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, I have contributed to this place. For example, I wrote most of massage. I did some other stuff. I've also made a bunch of WIGOs. Whether or not my contributions are any good is up to debate, I suppose, but I have in fact contributed. And I don't get why you people think the only way to have fun is to piss on somebody else--User:Brxbrx/sig 23:03, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Claim Chowder, eh?[edit]

Daring Fireball fan, Cabel Sasser fan, or both? – Nick Heer 04:03, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Well spotted - I am indeed a Daring Fireball reader… DogP (talk) 04:20, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

MSG[edit]

As a test of your MSG tolerance - could you keep a journal of all foods you eat at for the next month, your typical bed time, and when any deviations of more than on hour occur? I find that when I ask MSG irrationalists to do this, it turns out that it's not MSG that causes their insomnia, but something else - typically a common food allergy of known type that shows up in foods typically seen as "MSG heavy."

Further, do you eat any processed snackfoods at all? Look at the packaging for "natural flavor," "hydrolyzed vegetable protein," "autolyzed yeast," "hydrolyzed yeast," "yeast extract," "soy extract," or "protein isolate." If it has any of those, it has glutamic acid, which, unless you deny chemistry, is the only difference between MSG and table salt. Hipocrite (talk) 13:53, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Sigh. I'm afraid it's not irrational, and I deny neither chemistry nor science - but I do know it's true, and being a scientist and a rationalist, I've tested my theory in so many ways I am 100% confident it's the case. It's absolutely repeatable, blind-testable and true. And yes, I know about all those other food additives, and I avoid them like the plague, because they causes the same effect - I'm one of those examine-everything-on-the-ingredient-list people as a result of this long-standing annoyance. So, no - I don't eat processed snack foods at all as a result. If I eat something that is served to me or that I've unknowingly bought that contains MSG, I know about it, because within in an hour, I will start having palpitations and some discomfort. DogP (talk) 15:17, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
You are neither a scientist or a rationalist. You have never blind tested it, as you have never taken capsulized MSG. You can make ONE FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS by proving this to James Randi. Real simple - "I can tell the difference between a capsule of ingested cottage cheese and a similar amount of processed MSG without using the sense of taste." Hipocrite (talk) 15:43, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I know what is happening to my body, and I am indeed both a scientist and rationalist - be careful casting aspersions when you haven't a clue about me or my qualifications. I know how to test for a condition, and I refute your entire argument and know that I am right on this. Yes, I have indeed taken capsulised MSG without a meal or drink within 6 hours to test for this, and it happens 100% of the time, almost immediately. You can feed me a meal without telling me anything about its contents and I can tell you within an hour if it contained MSG, every time, regardless of other ingredients. You can add a small amount of MSG to a meal I eat every day and it will keep me awake all night in a sweat - I've had that happen, when my Mum decided without my knowledge to add one extra ingredient to a favourite dish. I didn't ask her for a few months, assuming the problem lay elsewhere, but when I finally mentioned it, there it was. I hadn't developed an allergy to one of the other ingredients because I have routinely eaten all the other ingredients, in many different combinations in many different dishes since then. If I go out of my way to avoid ingesting the vile stuff, I never suffer from the problem, ever. I've had thirty years to observe and test myself for this curious condition, and for many years I didn't even know others had an issue with it- MSG intolerance wasn't exactly a hot topic in rural Ireland in the 1970s, and it was functionally impossible to come across the damned stuff. I neither want nor need James Randi's million dollars , and I couldn't be arsed proving it to you or anyone else, as it's hardly earth shattering news or important to anyone but me, and I'm confident enough to know what's right for me. But you know what's really annoying? - when people like you crow about 'rationalism', and are so insistent you're right that you can't listen to someone's experience and say "OK, well, I guess that's the way it works for them".
