The 2008 election night party is enshrined at this dump. Thank you all for popping in, it was a blast!
Somewhere around here I usually express my preference for avoiding table-tennis conversations. If I muck up your talk page, I'll stalk you until you reply there. If you defame my lovely estate of ones and zeros here, I'll add some random non sequitur to it here. Cheers! ħuman

WHY MUST YOU DO THIS --מְתֻרְגְּמָן וִיקִי שְׁלֹום!
- Hehe. Feel free to undo it if you think it improovs the article! ħuman 17:02, 6 November 2008 (EST)
- He's right! Why the revert?! Took my a long time to assemble that page. Ace McWickedThe Liquid Room 17:04, 6 November 2008 (EST)
- We lost good IPs getting it there ... also, since when in chivalry did Bohdan get your unblocking past the others?--מְתֻרְגְּמָן וִיקִי שְׁלֹום!
- Thanks for removing that tag. It was gonna cause me problems with making this edit. ='D JuanK 17:27, 6 November 2008 (EST)
- Hehe, @ Interpreted, it wouldn't last long anyway, would it? And as far as my unblocking, the infi-block of May 07 was undone by some priviged user snapping and going berserk, when it was reinstated it was for a more reasonable period (like six months?). Anyway, when B went to unblock me, he discovered I wasn't blocked. But my IP still was. Then through some fluke, comcast assigned me a new IP address, and voila! Human once more reigns supreme on CP! ħuman 18:06, 6 November 2008 (EST)

Think it is almost ready? tmtoulouse 12:41, 8 November 2008 (EST)
- Pretty close, yeah. Although, that text I moved over to the left to make it "less tall" looks a little lonely. I haven't looked over the "slogans" much since fixing some typos there, though. ħuman 13:39, 8 November 2008 (EST)

- I don't know. Probably not, but you never know. By the way, I also have no idea what you're talking about... :) ħuman 19:04, 11 November 2008 (EST)
- Oh, it's a play by Henrik Ibsen called A Doll's House. It's a fairly disturbing piece about traditionalist roles of men and women in society. You said "Welcome to the Dollhouse" on my talk page and I thought it might've been an Ibsen reference. Diego001 19:36, 11 November 2008 (EST)
- Ah, now I see! No, it's just a reference to the fairly disturbing movie. Heck, I can't even spell Henrik! But thanks for thinking I might be smert. ħuman 19:48, 11 November 2008 (EST)

- Yes, excellent fucking movie. I found Dollhouse via Happiness. Happiness was moer "professional", as I recall (PS, funded my Michael Stipe?). Now I'm thinking of this totally sick German movie... talk about your family values... I'll dig out a title. ħuman 23:10, 11 November 2008 (EST)

Vandal
I've put TK into the vandal group. We don't want him being disruptive here. Proxima Centauri 02:32, 15 November 2008 (EST)

- Do we need to warn new sysops that they may get emails from TK where he pretends to be very nice? I hope I'm not overreacting. If there is any email campaign the first we will know is when a number of naive new sysops start complaining that we shouldn't be horrible to nice TK. He may set out to put people against me because I alerted everybody and put him into the vandal group. I'm a bit uneasy. Proxima Centauri 04:47, 15 November 2008 (EST)

Again, TK is a nice addition both here and in CP. He has served his times away, he has got the longest blocks in RW. When someone will start complaining about his behaviour, then consider him a vandal. Editor at CPOh, Finland! Why? 06:05, 15 November 2008 (EST)
If TK starts another email hate campaign we can't monitor it. We may not realize its going on till things break apart and Rationalwikiwiki is laughing at us again. Proxima Centauri 06:20, 15 November 2008 (EST)
- So who are these innocent new Sysops that TK will lure into his power? At least they'll check him out. An e-mail has never killed anyone [citation needed], nor has anyone fallen to TK's evil strategies - apart from me, of course. Editor at CPOh, Finland! Why? 06:23, 15 November 2008 (EST)
- Speaking as a (relatively) new Sysop, it took me quite a while to understand just who TK was and what his role was on the site. Evidence of his jerkdom does abound, but it's fragmented at best. The Newcomer's Guide blurb on him is ambiguous--it makes him seem almost as though he's genuinely broken with Andy, repented, and reformed as a decent RWer. Because he's been so inactive on CP, he hasn't shown up very much on the newer WIGO pages or on recent CP speculation. Because the average page on CP has a life span of, like, a month before it's wiped, and because of his fondness for chatrooms/email/IM, it's hard to dig up damning records of his actions like you can with other Sysops. So, most of the information on TK's past comes from you senior RW editors--and secondary sources like that, especially to an ex-CPer used to untrustworthy sysops, might not be enough to convince new editors that TK actually is hostile and not just a a misunderstood user or the victim of a vendetta. If I hadn't gotten really bored one afternoon and decided to figure out just what the hell this guy was about, I daresay he might have been able to fool me for a while. So, yeah, I think it could happen. A Writer of Vaudevilles 07:12, 16 November 2008 (EST)

- When I checked what wa s"blocked", there were no user names - but a boatload of IPs. I guess someone went nuts and caught yours up in the net? As you say, not much happens there anyway these days. Wikiindex
There is an edit war in progress at Wikiindex. Conservapedia doesn’t like the criticism that I and other RationalWikians wrote about teh Schlalfly website. Both sides asked for an impartial administrator. It looks possible, perhaps likely that the criticism will be replaced by links to our website with its even greater wealth of information and criticism. Someone wants an article with Constructive criticism of Conservapedia. Now since when has Andrew Schlafly PhD listened to constructive criticism? Any amount of work that RationalWikians have put into criticizing Conservapedia risks being deleted there. I’ve copied it here so it won’t be lost. See The Conservapedia RationalWiki War. When we know better what’s happening at Wikiindex we can decide what to do with it. A good bit of the discussion is at Conservapedia, RationalWiki etc. There is much more in the 2 articles, Conservapedia and RationalWiki. The Conservapedia RationalWiki war is deleted. See also the talk pages to the articles above. Proxima Centauri 09:21, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- I deleted the war article over there. 2 users wanted it deleted. I've also put external links to RationalWiki into the Conservapedia article and the RationalWiki aticle. There's also a link to the RationalWiki article The Conservapedia RationalWiki War. Please bear that in mind if you consider deleting that one here. If the Conservapedians try to get those links deleted as well I hope other RationalWikians will support me over there. Proxima Centauri 12:43, 23 November 2008 (EST)
- That shouldn't have been put in the mainspace. Thanks for the updates on the wikiindex wars... ħuman 18:21, 23 November 2008 (EST)

A very important email.
I have just sent you one. PFoster 21:04, 5 December 2008 (EST)
In all seriousness,
I need a bit of help finding the image of Teh Dancing Assfly, but have been unable to do so, much to my dismay. I started by searching on the Sysop page for Kendoll, but was unable to locate the image, and have been scouring the wiki trying to find it. Placed in one simple word... HALP! Javasca₧ Who said anything about fair?!
- P.S, did I manage to log you out?
- I don't think you manged to log me out, no - how would you do that? Which image are you looking for? Not the clog dancing Irish girl... was there a modification of that? Can you describe it better, I'll try to help you find it. ħuman 00:16, 6 December 2008 (EST)

Well, thanks :) Here's one for the scientists here: Could it be that whatever is causing CP is actually contagious? You appear to be immune to it so far though. --Rose Pedals 15:34, 10 December 2008 (EST)
- The answer is quite easy, my dear misogynist troll: Proxima works on many different wikis, most of which have much tougher attitudes towards vandals and trolls. She never really got immersed in our rather laissez-faire blocking policy here at RW. So when she encounters assholes spewing shite, she does what she would on any other wiki and blocks them for what seems to her to be a reasonable period given the luser's history, taking into account all user names, etc., that they have used. ħuman 15:40, 10 December 2008 (EST)

- Hate to say this, but now you have all gone batshit insane. "Also, he was a sock of Hitler." was certainly a silly edit, but misogynist? MISOGYNIST? Are you sure it means what you think it means? Or is it something about my user name? Care to enlighten me? Apparently CP is contagious, after all. Godspeed to you all. --79.31.237.20 15:52, 10 December 2008 (EST)

- Well, then I still don't get why I, "Rose Pedals", am again blocked for a year. But as I stated over on PC's talk, I guess I know what's going on... the trolls are winning. Sorry... --79.31.237.20 16:12, 10 December 2008 (EST)

Yesterday there were 2 accounts for User:Rose Pedals. Computers could distinguish they had different contributions. Humans couldn't tell them apart so easily. What happened? Proxima Centauri 06:12, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Probably one of them was spelled with a capital "i" (I),which in sanserif looks very similar to a lowercase "L" (l). Fortinbrass 06:27, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Correction: no -it wasn't that they both appear to be spelled identically. Fortinbrass 06:31, 11 December 2008 (EST)
I blocked him for several reasons.
1. He turned up in the middle of a vandal attack.
2. The name, Rose Pedals was similar to User:Spring flowers, User:Summer flowers and User:Autumn flowers. Those three are socks of the vandal.
3 The first contribution this new user made looked like vandalism.
4 When the second Rose Pedals came up that confirmed this user is setting out to confuse us and I blocked again without hesitation.
I still think it's more likely than not that the Rose Pedals accounts are socks of the vandal. I think we should leave one of the two accounts open just incase he wants to edit constructively. If there's more trouble block him. Proxima Centauri 10:18, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Thanks for the update, yes, there was a lot of confusion going on. Hopefully it is all settled out now. ħuman 14:01, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- On an associated technical question, how come we have two different users with what looks like exactly the same name "Rose Pedals"? Look at the user creation log and the talk pages - they are different. Or are my old eyes playing tricks?--Bobbing up 14:24, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Is probably using a different Ascii letter for one of the letters - no idea which one - it's not cap i & lc L though. Or the space might be involved " " and "_" ? Fortinbrass 14:29, 11 December 2008 (EST)

- "Rose Pedаls" "Rose Pedals" Hmmm. Firefox is marking the first "Pedals" as mispelled, so although even in a serif font it looks the same, obviously one of the characters is not. Copied into Word, changed font to "wingdings", the "a" is different. The "wrong one" is the one with the short talk page. Yup, copying the url shows the "a" is really %D0%B0, whatever that is. Should we rename them to something innocuous? ħuman 14:31, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- Well, they are pretty innocuous already. But it does rather indicate a knowledge of block circumvention, proxies, and trickywikying on the part of the innocent Miss Rose. Still - assume good faith, presumption of innocence and all that.--Bobbing up 14:41, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- True. PS, by "renaming them" I only meant the one with the weird character in it. Perhaps Rose signed on using a mucked up character first then re-signed using normal letters? (The weird one was first, IIRC). ħuman 14:46, 11 December 2008 (EST)
- OK. Yes that could be the explanation. I'd put the first account in the vandal bin (for the "Darwin was a sock of Hitler" edit) when the second one was created, so I think her IP should have been blocked as well. Presumably Rose has a dynamic IP and she logged of and logged back in, was automatically given a new IP, and created the new account - without, what she suddenly realised was, a strange character. Isn't "assume good faith" a wonderful thing?--Bobbing up 16:06, 11 December 2008 (EST)

- Hehe, well, yeah, there that, too. I know that to play here you have to hide some of your lights under a bushel or two, although of course even there you've figured out ways to have fun with it ("Is this where I put my UFO sighting?"). Also, those Carpchives are sure coming in handy! Got any Carpgarlic or Carppeppers to go with them? ħuman 18:44, 10 December 2008 (EST)
S, did you happen to catch my UFO story? it was on my user page for a day. Longer than I'd intended, but with no power there was not much that i could do. Anyway, it went up pretty much for you, so you might as well catch it. Carptrash 03:29, 12 December 2008 (EST)
I have followed through on your clever plan...
"Anonymous User" (obviously your parents were unbelievers to give you such a pagan name), moral relativism is so prevalent among feminists that Wikipedia has gone to great lengths to bury the connection. I wasted time with your unsubstantial additions and like most liberals you act like you're smarter than every one else and hope that people will agree with you because you seem smart and "reasonable", so whether you admit it or not, I can tell you're not here to think and learn. You are in complete denial that that religion prevents language devolution. Do yourself a favor and admit that conservative words don't disappear. --aschlafly 02:03, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Vandal 2
I can't put User:Wilhemia "Wil" Grimlock Roberts "Rob" Farfenugin Spackletack Georgio Flimfam Oddrasia, Jr. II into the vandal group. The computer treated that as a valid name when I blocked the character. When I tried to put the long name into the vandal group the computer insisted that's not a valid username. Proxima Centauri 13:47, 14 December 2008 (EST)

- I've been running my generator since midnight Thursday, yes. Internet & cable TV were dead from sometime Friday until sometime today, too. So I have heat, and water, and a working fridge, etc., I just have to spill gasoline all over myself at twelve hour intervals. Friday was the worst, so much power was out finding a gasoline station with electricity to run their pumps took hours. And an hour wait in line to fill up my jugs for the generator. Things are a lot better now, but my street still isn't turned back on. Thanks for asking :) ħuman 13:28, 15 December 2008 (EST)

I just got home
from a library steering column meeting and it looks like this.
I did get a fire going and do have power, which is nice. Hopefully still will tomorrow morning. How is it going with you? I gave up t.v. years ago, so loss of cable is well, a pro-choice move for me.
Stay warm. Carptrash 22:43, 15 December 2008 (EST)
- I heard you are expecting a "little" snow... like a foot or two? Best of luck, hope the power stays on. Cable for me is not all about tv. It's my innertubez. Looks very pretty, by the way, nice house, attractive aliens (or are those ghosts?) floating around in the air... sheesh, we haven't even had snow yet this year and we've already had a "disaster". Just refilled the generator, good til tomorrow afternoon. I hope they fix the damn broken pole up the road and turn our street back on before then. Anyway, snuggle in for a long one! ħuman 01:02, 16 December 2008 (EST)
