Vandaled IP

• I'm in a meeting and don't have a lot of time to deal with this but I'll briefly explain. The bar pages are not Arthur's userspace except by fiat, which isn't appropriate. It's not for Arthur to unilaterally determine the content of a mainspace page that several of us spent hours having fun with last night. I blocked him for 5 minutes while I was (doing a bad job of) cleaning up his sanitization and Arthropleurization of these pages. I then unblocked him within mere minutes. I blocked Arthur for an hour when he came back to blank my userpage with personal insults. He's now done this several times from several IPs after being blocked and vandal binned. I guess you're correct about the blanking, since I failed at properly archiving my talk page and left it only half redirected. But what's the point of arguing about any of this? You lose. It is not your "right" to move any mainspace page to your userspace just because you take some personal pride of ownership of something that's simply not yours. Sure, you could do it if there was a consensus, but I believe this was already at least cursorily discussed and that the emerging consensus was that the bar pages are not your property. Use a crappy browser that doesn't support border-radius...alternatively, add a class and then remove the border-radius in monobook.css with !important. For example:

Capturebot improvements

I was thinking a little about fixing the memory usage and article length issues in capturebot. Seems to me a divide and conquer approach would probably work well. Render clips only a few hundred pixels long at a time and write them to the filesystem uncompressed (windows bitmaps? PNM?) then stitch them together and compress with imagemagick as postprocessing. I'll have a go modifying the webkit2png script, but I'm still waiting on qt-webkit to be installed (on dependency 26 of 48, and one of the things still to be installed is qt itself which'll take forever. No, there's no need to have the whole image in memory just to compress (or decompress) it, just a small buffers worth. I just tried convert test1.png test2.png -append output.png where both test1 and test2 are screen caps of Pan arabism (truncated at 32766 pixels). After an initial spike of over 700 megabytes, it went down to 500 while combining, which is the size of both images uncompressed (webkit2png needs about 250 megs to capture them) (and the result was blank where the other image should've been) -- Nx / talk 12:28, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Voting options

Do we have the ability to do multi-choice voting so that you can only vote/change a vote for one item in a group? I could imagine it would be useful for things like measuring the number of people with a particular viewpoint or characteristic (e.g. age-ranges) where you would only want to people to select one answer. Customization

Open your monobook.css. To customize the text of the option you have voted for, type the following:

.myvote {
}

then start inserting css styling between the brackets, the same way you would do in a span's style attribute. However, add !important to every property before the semicolon, e.g. instead of "color:red;" type "color:red !important;" For example:

.myvote {
  color:red !important;
  font-size:large !important;
  font-weight:normal !important;
}

To customize the "filled" part of the column (blue by default), add the following:

.votecolumnfront {
}

and again fill it out with whatever you wish:

For the "empty" part (grey background), add this

}

and fill it out, e.g.:

If you convert the font to eot, you get support on internet explorer starting from version 4. Firefox 3.5 supports it, Safari 4 supports it but apparently doesn't like some fonts. Chrome should support it, but when I tried it it didn't work on Chrome 3. Opera 10 supports it. Worst case, your signature is rendered in the default font. Nx (talk) 17:16, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

CSS importing

That's not what I'm saying at all, and including another CSS file wouldn't fix it. You may want you signature in some weird font, but I don't. To me, your signature just looks like semi-random giberish, because my default font presumably doesn't have whatever glyphs you're using. You're probably going to stick needles in an effigy of myself for asking, but I've noticed that cb2 categorises CP screenshots in " Category:Conservapedia screencaps" & "Category:August 2009 Conservapedia screencaps". I've placed a script into /etc/cron.daily called pibot that runs another script in ~bots/Pibot called runarchive. runarchive changes the directory to ~bots/Pibot (needed for pywikipediabot to find its stuff), then executes archivebot.py with Template:Talkpage/Pibot as parameter. Do the same for perl, just create a small script that executes the bot script, then call it from /etc/cron.daily/pibot. -- Nx / talk 12:24, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok, fixed it, I forgot to set up the python path, so it couldn't find wikipedia.py. I thought I set it up globally for capturebot2, but I didn't. Also, pywikipedia doesn't like it when user-config.py is owned by someone other that the user running the script - in this case root was running the script, so I added a setguid command to run the script under the bot user. If you add any other scripts to /etc/cron.daily/python, do the same. -- Nx / talk 08:34, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

It merged, but for some reason the "first" teflon edits over-wrote what was on the page before. I fixed my talk page. WIGO CP is another obvious example. Oh well, I'll stop interrupting and let you fix things up. ħuman 23:34, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Cool. I'm glad you want to keep the fake votes - I suspect we should remove the images from the "vote" template though? Also, is there any way to automatically move what was overwritten on people's talk pages to archives? Should we just use the intercom and ask each person to do their own? Just explain it to the three or four people who had their talk pages merged. I think they're not protected, although the page history entry was copied, the actual action wasn't. Log out and try editing them. -- Nx / talk 00:15, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
