But all he (and Bugler, and TK) wants is for me to leave in such a way that I can get demoted and perma banned, thus never able to attempt to thwart their goals of destroying the project. Blocking one of Andy's ass-suckers would be a good way to garuntee this. I've already lost this war, but I'm not going to give them any more ammunition with which to continue fighting other wars. The fundamental problem at CP has always been Andy himself - he's completely unable to accept criticism, and he either can't or for some reason won't step in as a manager and actually establish some sort of authority over his sysops. It is this combination that basically gives people like Ed, TK and Bugler free reins to do as they please. I have a great deal of respect for people like Jessica and Jazzman both for speaking up and for actually trying to improve the site under such circumstances, but unfortunately, nothing is going to change unless Andy changes. Theoretically, the rest of them could self-regulate underneath Andy. The problem is it's parodists and people trying to destroy the site while claiming they are for it against known liberals and people who really don't agree with the party line. CP is such an illogical place, that the people who are supposed to be denouncing the site are the ones who are defending it, and the people with all the real power desire to see the project fail. I see where you're coming from, sorry for trying to give bad advice. When your block expires, what then? Bring the situation to Andy? Silently quitting won't give you a chance to thwart their goals, plus there's nothing stopping them from just blocking and deleting your userpages with the reason of "he quit anyway". Absolutely. I had known the name "Tokyo Rose" but never the story behind it (interestingly Japanese school kids still use it for somebody who tells tales). When I was writing the cp:Tokyo Rose bit, I actually burst into tears myself when I got to the bit about one of her former accusers saying, "She never said those words..." (I can be such a girl at times!) Her story and Fatty Arbuckle (I read the Yallop book) must be the 2 worst bad-justice cases I have come across. The other "Roses" went under the radar of history, it seems. One was Canadian, as I recall, but that's about it. I didn't know the phrase "Tokyo Rose" had found its way into Japanese language! This idiot ran out of airtime at the crucial moment last night. Will reply in full now. (thank you for so many replies). JazzMan, I could not believe what Ed did -basically use my appeal as an excuse to block you. (and reinforce my point that people are unapproachable on there) I think given that Ed, Bugler and TK have basically told me to shut up (and swallow the koolaid too I suppose) speaks volumes. Still, I feel if I leave now, then 'they' will have won - and I do not want that. Besides, I hate leaving things half-finished.

On the subject of Dec 7th there is a story that your should never fly to Hawaii on Japan Air. The pilot makes an announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching Honolulu airport... and they do not know we are coming." As for conservative Japanese Christians, well we are all conservative to a degree (although I would still probably be branded a liberal due to my beliefs on gun control - the idea of owning a gun is simply alien to me), but Christian - if there are one million in total that would be a great deal. We are very much the minority, although my family does not totally ignore the traditional beliefs - everyone else out side my immediate family are Shinto and I am one of the few (I think) who has been both a shrine maiden and an altar girl on the same day! I though TokyoRose was fitting, seeing as I am "broadcasting to the enemy", plus I was amazed when actually learnt the whole story. --TokyoRose 05:57, 14 December 2008 (EST)

I don't think Ed's edit summary was addressed at you Rose, as it was made before your plea for sanity. It's probably just part of Ed's inate racism but may also be a subtle dig at PJR. Unfortunately his little jokes often leave a sour taste. So long as you keep making good edits and do what you think is right you will probably be OK. While I won't go as far as saying that they are on your side, PJR, CPAdmin1, Learn together and would probably back you up if you were unfairly picked upon. Currently Ed Poor is only the really hostile sysop while TK, Bugler and RW are just your peers. Until Andy decides to promote any or all of them then you are reasonably safe. As many people on this site can attest to, the worst thing you can do is get into a dialog with the likes of TK (and the wannabees) as they will suck the life out of you. I saw the DMZ, two museums (royal palace and modern arts), the craft district, and Seoul Tower amongst other places. But then I live in Korea, so I wasn't trying to cram too much in. I know you don't want to stick around here much, which is fair enough, but I'd be interested to know what you think of our article on Japan, most of which I wrote a couple of months ago. Obviously it's not meant to be encyclopedic, just a brief social & political overview. But any feedback would be appreciated, especially if you think anything in it is inaccurate or too judgemental or anything particular should be added. I had a quick look at for a short summary, I think it looks good. I like the analysis of the religion - neither Buddhism or Shinto has a central god, so it is right to say that if asked if people believe in "god" they would say no, but they can still be religious. Although I am not sure if i would call Shinto "pagan" - but I cannot think of a better word right now either.

I dunno, pagan/heathen would be a decent fit, since it comes from the "country dwellers" originally. The name pagan got smeared quite a bit, but if you go back to the original "countryside faith" idea I would say it fits the attitude decently. --Kels 10:18, 18 December 2008 (EST)

I guess maybe what I was trying to highlight with the word "paganistic" is that (getting pretentious here) Japan & Shinto present an interesting counterexample to the traditional anthropological view that civilisations progress from animistic to polytheistic to monotheistic religions - Japan has retained what outsiders might consider a pagan sort of religion & culture throughout its ancient, feudal, industrial and modern development. But then "pagan" is still a bit misleading, since Shinto is too idiosyncratic & distinctively Eastern to be easily compared with European pagan religions, for example. weaseLOId~ 12:37, 18 December 2008 (EST)

Well, by Established Church standards, "infidel" and "unbeliever" is exactly what they are, and I think the Franciscans called the Shinto folks that at one point. What do you mean here by "Blaise Pascal had secretly worked out the first twenty-three propositions of Euclid by himself"? You can't prove them all to start with (no. 5 is the classic example) and for any student studying maths before the 20th century Euclid's Elements was the standard first textbook so he would have been taught them all by a teacher. Conservapedia blocks

I've read a bit of what TK wrote to you. I didn't read the whole lot because reading TK's bullying and reading about unfair blocks frustrates me. I thought I'd give you some objective information. Sometimes the same users make constructive edits with one account and vandalize with another account. A lot of the time that happens when users can't get a reasonable point accross. Users who know they'll get blocked for writing anything sensible decide they might as well vandalize. When you thought I was vandalizing I was having fun doing something I knew the Admins wouldn't like. I was also trying to warn Conservapedians about TK and trying to point out the arguments Conservapedia had against evolution aren't valid. I guess some of the vandals are the type of irresponsible vandals that haunt all wikis. I don't know which. I'm sure some of the blocks are as unfair as they seem. Ed Poor, Bugler, Karajou Aschlafly and others are the sort who will abuse power if they have power without responsibility. Proxima Centauri 13:43, 29 December 2008 (EST)

No, the US military is undoubatably the strongest force currently in existance (maybe Israel man-for-man). I may have said this before, but the war was not lost by the people who fought it, but by the way it was fought. A series of stupid decisions made the war unwinnable. To use a chess analougy, the US player starts out with 4 queens, and the opponent with none, but the US sacrifices all of them, and squanders their advantage to the point where regardless of strategic advantage to the point where they made it unwinnable. A Perfect example of squandering tactcap knowledge- the Millenium Challenge training excircise- a retired general playing as what was essentially a terrorist group completley annhiliated the US forces.
