Yes, because templates have to be reinserted into pages on every page load, and that takes cpu time, so I guess the mw developers felt there was no need to do that for sigs. You can trick the software by using a second template -- Nx ^talk 05:35, 1 February 2009 (EST)

Several things wrong with your post

1. It won't ever get moved to mainspace

You can't make a page in userspace and then move it. Wikis aren't meant to work that way. Anything you're able to do because its in your userspace (and not main) is going to have to be removed eventually. You're just torturing yourself. MeiRobot1 19:48, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
