Liquid McWicked[edit]

Have you seen Shogun Assassin? Its the movie that all the dialogue (.."choose the ball and join your mother in death"..etc etc) from Liquid Swords is taken. Ace McWickedi9 02:34, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Choose the sword, and you'll join me.[edit]

Ace McWickedi9 02:49, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I just called the hipster video place and they have it. I'll get it tomorrow and report shortly thereafter. Your mother would be proud. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 02:54, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Its a damn fucking good film. I am super hungover but drinking again. While my woman lays on the couch stuffing herself with pizza I am watching this....

Get it if you havent seen it. Its called Ninja Scroll. Ace McWickedi9 02:57, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I went to the fancy liquor store and bought a case of my favorite cheap bordeaux. How many bottles of wine are you supposed to drink before you go out? Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 03:03, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I usually have about 1 or 2 before leaving the house.

How about this? Ace McWickedi9 03:05, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Sokay. It's anime. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 03:10, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
(EC)I got SO FUCKING SICK of fucking Ninja Scroll. When Teletoon first came on the air here, they bought about five anime movies that they'd play, in order OVER AND OVER AGAIN. They must have played Ninja Scroll at least 30 times, no lie. And honestly, most of the character designs aren't even all that appealing, especially male faces. I didn't mind so much that they'd play Macross Plus ad nauseum, though. At least that was good. --Kels 03:11, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I dont like much anime but there are some classics. Like Akira. Everyone has seen Akira right? Ace McWickedi9 03:12, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
And Miyazaki. Personally, I celebrate the man's entire catalog. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 03:16, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
The man speaks truth. If Miyazaki did anything bad, I'm not aware of it. But a lot of the great stuff out there is in features or direct to video stuff, not in the series work that you hear the fangirls go on about. Most of it doesn't nearly live up to the comics they're based on. --Kels 03:24, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Miyazaki's stuff is a little light hearted for me. Not bad, just too soft for my liking. Ace McWickedi9

Well, MC is a troublesome bitch who is still clearly unaware of what we are trying to do here. I wouldn't support his sysopship. Ace McWickedi9 22:09, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
No. I only blocked him for 5 minutes so we could the impending revert war. He wasn't frozen out of any discussion. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 22:10, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but first you blocked him for 9 hours. If he tried to edit and saw that, how would he know you shortened the block 5 minutes later? I'm not being "pro MC" here, I'm trying to help us avoid the Trial of the Century. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:28, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
You're thinking about sysoping a guy who vandalizes the wiki so he can more freely call us names and berate us when we revert his edits, all to avoid his charge that we (read me) were treating him unfairly? I wouldn't, but you're the bureaucrat, not me. Isn't he supposed to be vandal binned anyway? Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svgUser:Nutty Roux/sigtalk 22:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry about that MC. I should have just blocked you for 5 minutes. Sorry if I am biased towards reality (something you duds genuinely think you are) but the Ann Coulter thing is indicative of the entire problem here. Not sure if this was an invitation to answer or not. Do you know what my scholarly qualifications are? What are yours? Would you flesh out the underlying idea here that one must have some kind of qualifications to be able to address certain topics? I'm not following you and you've so far failed to give any compelling reasoning behind your fascination with the Anne Coulter issue. Only personal insults. Re: German Tomatoes[edit]

What? SJ Debaser 14:35, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

It's an old variety of heirloom tomato that makes a sweet red flesh with small seed pockets - holds up well in salads and sandwiches because it's not 80% juice like crummy hybrid grocery store tomatoes. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 17:07, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Ahh... sounds lovely. Unfortunately, I'm a poor, poor man and most the food I buy is either Super Noodles or Walkers Crisps. SJ Debaser 18:56, 30 July 2009 (UT
tomatoes are one those things that don't require more than some dirt, water and time. Go to the fancy grocer and buy 1 expensive tomato that you think you'll like. Save the seeds and dry them. Then learn how to start them indoors before spring so you can have hearty plants in time for warm weather. Voilà. Cheap and easy. And delicious. You're a genius[edit]

I run my computer into a 1977 Kenwood receiver and out into two Sony bookshelf speakers. It sounds great, and my downstairs neighbours really seem to love it when I play my music with the receiver turned up over 4 or 5. I can hear them banging on the ceiling in appreciation. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 15:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Seriously. Why didn't I think of this before instead of continuing to use some dinky Dell "computer speakers" from the late 90's? I never imagined what it would be like to sit in my office getting rumbled by a subwoofer and being able to turn the volume down on my wireless keyboard to answer the phone. More than several people being ignorant of this boon seems like too much of a coincidence. I suspect conspiracy to keep receivers and speaker sets stockpiled in thrift stores nationwide because that's where they hide the heroin. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 15:19, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Some years back I had 3 turntables and 2 cd mixers all running through a large Vestax mixer. All this was running through a computer which in turn ran through into some massive JBL speakers so we could manipulate the music, add effects and record mixers. Had over a 1000 old school techno records. The neighbours were not happy. But people like them never are. Ace McWickedModel 500 21:01, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
My neighbor below is chain smoking me out of my house. All I smell when he's home is dank stale cigarette smoke and occasionally the smell of old liquor and cigarette butts when he opens his door. He's worse than a cat lady. I now have no problem playing the Misfits at top volume when I'm at the other end of the house. I'm totally impressed with this setup. Old Onkyo stereo receiver - probably 100 Watts - going through a 15 year old Bose Acoustimass with 4 satellite speakers and the passive sub. Sounds good for an office. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 22:03, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I are you sure we arent neighbours? Ace McWickedModel 500 22:20, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Calling the legal beagle patrol[edit]

The We the People Act popped up on RationalWiki:To_do_list#Miscellaneous, might be right up your alley... ħumanUser talk:Human 01:01, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh for goodness sakes. Not even the far far right think this is a good idea. The statute proposes to limit the jurisdiction of all federal courts from adjudicating any claim involving a state or local law relating to free exercise or establishment of religion, any claim based on right of privacy (remember that this is one of those "penumbra" rights that the far right hates, stemming if IIRC from Griswold v. Conn. = the rubbers case) "including any such claim related to any issue of sexual practices, orientation, or reproduction," and any equal protection claim based on straight or gay marriage. Further, the Supreme Court and all federal courts would be prohibited from relying on any earlier federal decision on the above topics (Ron Paul wants to completely rewrite federal constitutional jurisprudence - I have no words for how appalling I find this idea).

A "violation" of the Act by a judge would be an impeachable offense, and the Act retroactively removes all cases decided on issues that would have been prohibited by the Act from the principle of stare decisis.

I've been meaning to look at whether Congress would even have the constitutional authority under any empowerment clause in the constitution, particularly in the context of limiting the Court's authority to hear certain habeus corpus cases involving detainees. I'll get to this We the People Act when I can. It's absolutely disgusting. Now I don't feel so bad about Ron Paul humiliating himself in the new Sacha Baron Cohen movie. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 01:24, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

You're pretty sexy when your anrgy. Ace McWickedModel 500 01:43, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Turns out only parts of the We the People Act are remarkable. It was a surprise to me to remember that Congress actually does have the authority to limit the jurisdiction of all courts lower than the Supreme Court and to limit all but the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court (original means not appellate). What's more remarkable about this statute are the theoretical consequences of prohibiting the Supreme Court from reviewing past authority. To do s owould both admit the authority is correct and freeze it in time. I'll have to think about this a lot more. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Liberal. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 01:52, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
English please? --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 02:37, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
I think it boils down to, "Congress is allowed to decide what kinds of cases the federal courts can and cannot hear." Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 02:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
It's a little more complicated, but you're basically right for the kinds of cases that matter. Courts in the United States, whether under state or federal law, are created and empowered by statutes or constitutions. In the federal system Article III of the United States Constitution creates the Supreme Court and specifically determines its jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is the power of a court to adjudicate a particular matter. In the context we're talking about here, we're talking about "subject matter" jurisdiction, or the power of a court to adjudicate certain kinds of matters, rather than "personal jurisdiction," which is a court's power over a particular person or entity. The Supreme Court has what is called "original" subject matter jurisdiction over only a small category of cases, including "all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, and those in which a state shall be party." These cases are an insignificant part of the Court's work, both in number and significance. Original jurisdiction means these cases can be filed directly in the Supreme Court with it acting as both finder of fact and law. Without altering the Constitution, no act of Congress could diminish this "original" jurisdiction because such acts are subordinate to the Constitution. The Supreme Court also has "appellate" jurisdiction over narrowly defined categories of cases " with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make." Appellate jurisdiction is the Court's power to sit in review of decisions of lower federal courts and state supreme courts on important issues (it's purely discretionary and in fact the Court hears a smaller and smaller percentage of all appeals filed every year). This means that Congress has the power to define anything but the Court's original jurisdiction. Article III also gives Congress the authority to establish the lower courts, which are the Circuit Courts of Appeal and the District Court (trial courts). The trial courts are where all federal cases start. The We the People Act would end trial court jurisdiction over the above types of cases, as well as preclude the Supreme Court from hearing appeals on these types of cases. It's crooked, would be unlikely to pass, but parts of it are theoretically not unconstitutional. As Congress has the power to create these courts, Congress also has the power to constrain their jurisdiction and there are several examples of this happening in American history, particularly during the Civil War.
