Hey, can you sign your talk page comments with four tildes (like this: ~~~~ - it's the top left key on most KBs, shifted, or use the weird looking "signature" icon above the edit box)? It leaves your user name and a timestamp automagically. Thanks! ħumanUser talk:Human 22:48, 24 July 2008 (EDT)
PS, I think Tmtoulouse might have fixed your forum problem. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:49, 24 July 2008 (EDT)

Demotion

In order to usurp Ace McWicked, I have the unfortunate task of demoting you to the rank of sysop here. There's a sysop guide to help you through these trying circumstances.Lord of the Goons 05:54, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Reminder

Please sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the sign button: SigButt.png on the toolbar above the edit panel. . (You can indent successive talk page comments using one more colon (:) for each line.) Thank you. I am eating Toast& honeychat 01:53, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks.--Mustex 01:54, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Random hints

When asking a question of a user, use their talk page. Please try to link to what your question refers to (use the brackets...). Also, using four tildes to sign talk page comments makes everyone's life easier (see above). Nice to see you around again! ħumanUser talk:Human 01:54, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I actually read alot, just don't post a whole lot...although now I seem I'm a sysop. Which surprises me, but I'll do my best. --Mustex 01:58, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
All it means is we don't see red exclamation points on your edits in RC. Yeah, and you have a few extra buttons that we almost never use. It can get weird, though, when you go on other wikis and they are missing, and you wonder why. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
You'll get the hang of this place eventually. Everyone does, it just takes some time. Heck, I didn't know until a month ago how to create templates, and I've been here over a year. If you need help or have questions, I am available to help, too.The Spikey Punk I'm punking my punk! 03:19, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Technically, I've been here a long time too, only reading more often than editing, and often not even bothering to log in (remember the "Red Letter Christian" thing. That was me.)--Mustex 03:22, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
RE: Blocking. Generally we don't - if you look on the block page you'll see a link to Special:VandalBrake which will limit the user to a vastly reduced number of edditds per hour - we usually find that dissuades them. I am eating Toast& honeychat 03:23, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks.--Mustex 03:24, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Oh well, my offer for help sticks, just the same. Oh, and don't mind Nutty Roux. He gets his eventually, so there is no need to worry about him vandalizing userpages, unless it's yours. The Goonie Punk Can't sleep, clowns will eat me! 03:26, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
There is that weird community issue, like when I see Goonie and The Emptor in a silly block war, I know it's just buddies snuggling. Lots of things like that on this site go on. The community side - the friendships, the camaraderie, the knowing each other's stories, is sometimes more important than the "content" of mainspace articles. Hence, the endless silliness you observe. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Our community forum/meeting area

Since it appears you don't know where it is, the Saloon Bar is located in the link, and it is our community bulletin board and forum area. There you can be more than happy to post challenges to the RationalWiki community-at-large. Cheers, and see you there.AnarchoGoon Swatting Assflys is how I earn my living 03:12, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:Your challenge.....

.....shall be answered to in good time, my friend.Give it, at least a few days, and I assure you this site will (in all probability) be more than up to it. I, myself, will proabably answer it tomorrow when I am not drunk.Lord Goonie Hooray! I'm helping! 03:29, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Pasting crap on every page you can

Is getting old. Please, just put your questions in one place. If you put them on a user talk page and then finally migrate to, say, the saloon bar, at least backtrack and tell us the conversation has gone "public". That is all. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:47, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

This has been duly noted, and I apoligize, I just discovered the Saloon, and I guess it didn't occur to me to fill you in. I plan on using the Saloon from now on, so it shouldn't be an issue.--Mustex 03:50, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
No blood, no foul. Thanks. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:44, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

The amazing Atheist.

Dude, can you at least try to put some fuckin' effort into it? Some links, maybe some complete sentences? That's not even an Ed Poor stub, ferfuxsakes. RaoulDuke 15:59, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Raoul, rather than be abrasive and aggressive, how about you try adding stuff to said article, rather than whining? Articles don't appear out of thin-air being perfect on the first edit and insulting an author achieves nothing. Scarlet A.pngtheist 16:22, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Dude, you should've seen it. And I did work on the improved version once it came about. If we're gonna pounce all over Ed for doing that, we should tolerate it here? RaoulDuke 16:26, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Aw, it wasn't that bad. Aboriginal Noise with 4 M's and a silent Q 16:34, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
To be honest, if he'd just asked me to improve it I would have done it, but I would have preferred if you left the original up so I could edit instead of completely rewriting.--Mustex 16:37, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Aboriginal--did you look at the DELETED version? A mess. Mustex. Sorry. Tensions are high. I'm also suffering from mental illness. Ask my brother. RaoulDuke 16:38, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Eh, not a huge deal.--Mustex 16:39, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
(EC)I don't care about the quality of the article, I've went through the deletion logs and looked at it. A stub is a starting point intended to pique interest of others to come and edit it, stubs can be any size or quality and although we suggest that there should be some basic content like links and categories, RW doesn't mandate what it can contain. Do not delete mainspace articles unilaterally and then go and act like a dick on someone's talk page. If you see a short article; either expand it, or put up the delete template (which is what it's there for) or leave it for stubbot to cateogrise.Scarlet A.pngtheist 16:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
You're right. I'm sorry. RaoulDuke 16:46, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your kind remarks. I've read your suggestion but I'm afraid that I fall strongly into the category of scientific illiterates. I have an O Level (ancient and superseded exam in England & Wales usually taken at age 15/16) in Physics - and forgotten all of that - and nothing else. Ed Poor could run rings round me. Cheers, Fretfulporpentine 12:46, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Adding references

I created a sandbox demo for you here. Feel free to dissect it to figure out how to add references to an article, and ask me questions if you have them. Cheers. The Goonie 1 What's this button do? Uh oh.... 19:02, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Thought you might like to know

You were on about Alucard earlier and I remembered something. The makers of this B-horror movie from the 80's (Troll, I believe)are trying to sue JK Rowling over her using the name Harry Potter, the name of the protagonist in their crappy film that predates Hogwarts.--Thanatos 04:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

That doesn't mean they are right just because they are trying to sue her. - π 04:15, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
They also say there are similarities to their film. I think it is just a coincidence. How can they prove that Rowling saw their crappy film?--Thanatos 04:22, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Talkpage

Judging by your edit summaries I suspect you are editing talk pages by clicking edit at the top. This causes problems because you edit conflict people. If you want to start a new section, click the add section tab at the top. If you want to comment on a section, click edit next to the section title. This will reduce edit conflicts. Thanks. - π 06:40, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

To do list etc

You searched for "to do list" & didn't find it: Go to "my preferences", click the "search" tab, check "RationalWiki" (and any others you fancy). That should do it. I am eating Toast& honeychat 13:14, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

David what's-his-name.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to take your article-in-progress out of the mainspace and put it here until it's ready. RaoulDuke 04:16, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I have moved it here already. - π 04:19, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks.--Mustex 04:48, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey there

Your article Argument from oh bloody hell that was years ago is being considered for deletion. Your input would be appreciated, so come and argue on the talk page. Corry 01:51, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Sean Manchester

You might want to check out the two new links at the bottom of the Sean Manchester talk page.--BobIt's cold! 15:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I've been working on a fun version of the article. As far as I can see it's fine for the purposes of parody, and that intention is made quite clear. User:Concernedresident/sandbox2. What do you think? --ConcernedresidentAsk me about your mother 17:29, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

For what it's worth

I thought your idea about donating money per youtube subscribers was very thoughtful, and not just you being an attention whore. The Goonie 1 What's this button do? Uh oh.... 03:58, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!--Mustex (talk) 04:15, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
I wonder how much my critiques of your early videos made people feel emboldened to be nasty to you. We'll never know, but sorry if that was how it rolled. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Meh, I don't blame you. And I did some testing, and I think I know how to zoom now (strangely, it was easier to figure out how to make an angel and a devil appear on my shoulders, cupid fly around my head, or my face transform into a werewolf, than it was to just figure out how to zoom).--Mustex (talk) 05:25, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Hard labor

I sysopped User:Little_Bobby_Oppenheimer for you. I suggest you now block him so he can practice unblocking. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:24, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

(facepalm) These people make us all look so bad.

They do. And they make it so easy for "us" to pick on "you." More importantly for me (and it's all about me) they've made it so easy for me to disavow any sense of having a reasoned approach to people of faith and to out of hand dismiss you all as a bunch of ignorant lunatics. Which bothers me, because it's not fair, it's not accurate, it's mean, and it doesn't do justice to a set of ideas that really matter to a lot of people--and that a lot of people use to challenge the same oppressive systems that I want to challenge, to help themselves cope with a life that's fundamentally painful and unfair, and to just be better people. Problem is, it seems as if the lunatics are better at getting our attention, and that they're being challenged in a more vocal way by jackasses like me, and not by people who are in a better position to talk to them about what their faith could mean. I'm not sure if there's a point to all this--I just wanted to get it out there. Peace. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 05:40, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Yeah. Honestly, though, I think that the world is just full of jerks. A while back I was kind of considering just giving up on religion, but then I started to realize that, even here, on the "rational" wiki, there's plenty of hate and intolerance (just look at the people celebrating NephilimFree, a man who's harmed no one, being kicked out on the street) So, I've more or less decided to stick to what makes me happy, but mostly live my life as if it isn't true. For the most part, I just hope people find what makes them happy.--Mustex (talk) 06:01, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
