Sorry to hear that Pinto. My wife was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in the upper arm about five years ago, the tumour was growing in the bone. She had radio, loads of chemo and a titanium prosthesis to replace the bone followed by a stem cell transplant when the cancer recurred. Fortunately the stem cell transplant seemed to do the trick as she's been clear for over three years now. It's a long hard slog and I hope you make it safely through. Modern medicine can do wonders, so I'll refrain from resorting to classroom prayer and just say "all the best". Генгис^{Our ignorance is God; what we know is science.} 18:27, 17 September 2008 (EDT)

Hey, Pinto, I didn't know about your trouble. Best wishes from a fellow sufferer - mine was cut out but the follow up chemo's been nasty. As a medic you're probably worse off than us lay people - ignorance is, if not bliss, at least not terrifying. Best of luck.

After surgery adjuvant chemotherapy (which apparently just means "after surgery") consisting of 2 batches of 3 days in hospital getting: carboplatin and paclitaxel with, possibly, more to come. The benefit of not having to bother about graying. or indeed any, hair is the only compensation. :) (with cheese)_{talk to Toast} 06:07, 12 January 2009 (EST)

(Don't think you have the equipment to have ovarian C) There's supposed to be 6 sessions, but by pure chance I had a full physical examination & it was caught very early, so the hope is that it's been entirely got & I might get away with a total of 4. I'm weak as a kitten and have to be careful re: bruising & stuff - occasional vomiting (sorry!) & diarrhoea (sory again!). no - just don't like the "C" word You poor sod! If it's anything like mine, a cannula in the back of the hand followed by injection of liquid fire for three hours. They tell me to keep my strength up by eating well, but food tastes rather bland & hard things (like toast :)) can be painful. For about a week after chemo I have to avoid hard food so I'm on some stuff called Complan which is rather like tasteless & very thick milk shake. I used to love my food! Cripes Pinto, I must have missed your withdrawal for med reasons. My missus had mulitiple myeloma and the bone out of most of her upper left arm. I hope you're recuperating OK. It's five years now since she was diagnosed and she's doing well after having had radio, chemo and a stem-cell transplant (for a while she used to stink of sweetcorn, evidently a side effect of the stuff they keep the stem cells in). Good to hear - it's a bugger that chemo. Of course, I hadn't thought, you'll need some physio - hard work. I'm pretty good, thanks. Clapping weight on - hit ^{(quickly converts)}101 pounds t'other day - doesn't sound much but @ 5'1" it's quite heavy. Totally done (knocks woods & crosses fingers) with chemo due to adverse reaction. Means more frequent check ups to keep tabs on it & they could put a permanent tap in for the blood sampling. Hair coming back fast - itchy. Oh and taste is returning has returned - totally vanished on chemo. Still on loads of medication, of course but nothing too arduous. Being a) chronic invalid (!) & b) over 65; I get the medication free - apparently I'm costing the NHS about £350/week but the chemo was about £1,000/session.
