Log Cabin Republicans

The Log Cabin Republicans are a subset of the Republican Party of the United States, whose common denominator is that they are also gay. This group is comprised of LGBT individuals who place a higher priority on defense or economic issues than gaining equal rights, or as they would put it, "overturning the traditional definition of marriage".

It must be noted that the Log Cabin Republicans are openly gay. This might seem to be anathema to the agenda of the Republican party, but this is incorrect. If one simply considers that if all of the closeted self-loathing homosexuals in the Republican Party were to suddenly come out, one would then notice that the Log Cabin Republicans are the actual Republican Party in the United States.

It is worth noting that according to their bylaws, the Log Cabin Republicans will still only ever endorse Republican candidates, regardless of the issues or individuals in any specific political race.

Recently, another group has been founded to give real gay conservatives a voice, because the Log Cabin Republicans (for all-but-endorsing some Democrats anyway when the Republican candidates were utter bigots). That group is GOPProud, and is set to cosponsor CPAC, best known for Ann Coulter's use of an anti-gay slur against then candidate John Edwards.
