LGBT is an acronym for " Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans~". It is used to describe all the issues to do with the included communities.

Back in the day, only LGB, or GLB were ever used. Following some confusion over issues of sexuality and gender issues (no, they're not the same), it became fashionable to add transgendered to the mix, forming the LGBT that is in common use today. With issues regarding inclusion and accusations of pigeon-holing, the acronym seems to be slowly falling out of favour.
Finding the term "transgendered" to not be inclusive enough, "intersex" has found its way into vaguely common use, forming LGBTI. Intersex is a medical term used to describe those born with ambiguous genitalia.
One idiot on Rational Wiki has always appended "Q" to the acronym : "Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans (whatever) and Questioning". (GLiBeTtyQ!) By that inclusive phrase is meant all those persons whose sexuality is not accepted by sick fucking bastards oppressive authoritarians as "normal". Human('s?) sexuality is what it is, and is very complicated.
A far less idiotic editor has seen the acronym expanded out to GLBTTAQQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, allies, queer, and questioning, pronounced "Glabattack!!!!"). Arguments still rage as to which Q is which.
SPITBAG supposedly stands for Sapphic (Lesbian), Pan/Pomo sexual, Intersex, Trans, Bisexual, A/Anthro sexual and Gay.
For those hardcore individuals interested in a challenge, try to work out what LGBTTI2QQAP stands for.
