That is not at all interesting.possibly because I'm not on it Nice work though. DeltaStarSenior SysopSpeciationspeed! 01:41, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Patience, young Delta, patience. All in good time. (Nah, I'm just saying that. We have far too many crats as it is. You'll get there when half a dozen of these bastards die.) DickTurpis (talk) 01:54, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
i 'cratted Refugee. You seemed to have missed that. Acei9 01:45, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Ace. I have/had no way to track ex-crats. Will add and re-upload. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:06, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

My next chore is to figure out how to add line breaks so I can put the dates on all these. Also to figure out why some names are sorta chopped at the bottom. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Isn't it interesting that, it would seem, the people I made bureaucrats seemed to have dropped off the Wiki (except Neveruse, who's no longer a 'crat and who has been retired for ages). The Goonie Punk Can't sleep, clowns will eat me! 02:37, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Saloon bar dup[edit]

I stuck this info in fragmented form in the Saloon bar. Linus was originally Linus M.. Trent de-cratted ColinR a long time ago. RW Admin made the first three crats. - π 03:40, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Excellent, thanks! ħumanUser talk:Human 04:06, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Ooh.[edit]

If we all wanted to be horribly pretentious (or horribly more pretentious), we could adopt Erdos style numbers, and refer to how many steps we are from TmToulouse.

Or not. I'm much better with not. Researcher (talk) 03:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

I quite like that idea. (Of course, I'll have a Toulouse Number of one, so it works well for me). But, yeah, it is arbitrary and pointless. DickTurpis (talk) 06:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
"But, yeah, it is arbitrary and pointless." - Which is precisely the reason why a nerd-filled wiki like this should do such a thing. DeltaStarSenior SysopSpeciationspeed! 10:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I have a Trent-Number of 3. Time to make a userbox! Scarlet A.pngnarchist 12:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I have a Trent number of 2. Hah! And I have a friend with a Bacon number of 3. Educated harmonic Hoover! 12:39, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Table. The t# represents how many steps below Trent you are, while the 'crats indicates how many crats of an equal or higher level there are. Interestingly, the chart shows a siigmoid/cumulative distribution of bureaucrats, suggesting a upper limit of bureaucrats at RationalWiki. Just by eyeballing (since I don't know how to do cumulative normal regression on Excel), the limit appears to be about 60-65 crats. Interesting.

T# 'crats
-1. 2
0. 3
1. 9
2. 28
3. 39
4. 49
5. 54

I'll upload the chart in a second. EDIT: Chart added.

The phrase "too much time on your hands" comes to mind, but I'm not going to hold it against you. It's interesting stuff. Scarlet A.pngnarchist 17:52, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
There is always time for numerical analysis....always. tmtoulouse 17:56, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
quadratic? It should be exponential, if the tree is somewhat balanced. Verhulst springs to my mind... larronsicut fur in nocte 21:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
No no no no no no no. It should be geometric and I demand that we start cratting people just to make it fit! Scarlet A.pngnarchist 21:18, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
See, it just looks logistic to me. If I had my calculaor, I'd test this, but I don't, and I don't want to pay shittons of cash to download a curve fitting application that I'd use once. Ah well. --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 21:22, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Meh without any a prior models I just used the best fit function weighted by number of free parameters. But here is the k-strategist model for crates:

Kstrat.png

Carrying capacity is then about 54. tmtoulouse 21:50, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm, maybe that's why we haven't been able to make any more crats lately - we're up against a Law of Nature! ħumanUser talk:Human 17:58, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Someone worked out some statistics on the distribution of Erdos numbers. I guess it's probably not much use for guessing the fit here, the connectivity is completely different for collaboration. --MarkGall (talk) 05:08, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, a tree is much easier to handle: if we assume that each bureaucrat creates new bureaucrats at a constant rate, we have the same problem as Fibonacci and his immortal rabbits! OTOH, the pics below imply that the number of editors is increasing linearly, and one could think that the number of bureaucrats is a fixed percentage of the number of editors. Then, the rate above is not constant, but decreasing exponentially itself. larronsicut fur in nocte 10:49, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
But they don't. Most create zero, some create 1/4/5, and I'm the outlier at 12 or so. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Minor dilemma[edit]

Crundy brought up the time he was a crat for one minute. Should he be added to this tree? And, of course, the issue of one-minute cratship made me certain I'd get a hit here. Yup, TK was a crat very briefly on April fools day 08. ħumanUser talk:Human 20:48, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

TK should be added to the version of the chart for Metapedia - David Gerard (talk) 20:53, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Pfft. Up to you. Is anyone else on there who has been cratted and decratted? CrundyTalk nerdy to me 21:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Lol, just saw Neveruse: User -> Sysop -> Crat -> Sysop -> User. Up the mountain and back down again! CrundyTalk nerdy to me 21:12, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Things were different back then. — Sincerely, Neveruse / Talk / Block 21:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Crundy, yeah, but so "oddly". I think I have decratted myself a couple time in fits of pique. Nx used to be but isn't, same for Pi I think. However, they both were "active" in that they cratted others, at least. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:39, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

And now... Janitors![edit]

If you're feeling particularly masochistic, you could make a sysop tree, to show who demoted who to janitor. Because who wouldn't want to look at a chart with 525 bubbles in it? Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 04:50, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

No. You can do if you want, of course. Since you are the one who wrecked the "process" way back when. ħumanUser talk:Human 07:05, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Fine then. What program did you use to create your chart? Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:54, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind. I found what program you used, but it's so obtuse it's simply not worth the effort. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 23:17, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Something is missing[edit]

Need to add something. An all seeing eye pyramid at the top, just about RW Admin. Just to be clear who is really running things around here from behind the scenes. Secret Squirrel (talk) 11:04, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

For New World Order lulz, the following names should be inserted at random points into the web of power: Joseph of Arimathea, Nostradamus, Heinrich Himmler, Jacob Rothschild, Ted Kennedy, J. Edgar Hoover, Elvis Presley, Buzz Aldrin, Malcolm X, Chuck Norris, Osama Bin Laden, Barack Obama. From the Book of Trent, Chapter 1[edit]

1These are the descendents of Trent. 2Trent begat Javascap, Chaos!, DickTurpis, Airdish, DLerner and Human, 3whose children were as many as the stars in the sky, on a murky day in the city at least. 4The children of Javascap: Gauss, Theemperor, Yossarian and Thanatos. 5All of these were without issue, and so endeth the line of Javascap. 6The children of Chaos!: Radioactive Afikomen, Sid and AJKjeldsen. 7Radioactive Afikomen begat Armondikov, DogP, Weaseloid and Nx. 8Weaseloid begat Concernedresident and the Loya Jirga, who did wonder unto the purpose of his own being. 9Nx begat LArron, producer of charts.

10Human begat P-Foster, BobM, Dave Gerard, Hojimachong, Phantom Hoover, SusanG, SirChuckB, Kels, 11NuttyRoux, who is called Teh Asp, Researcher, Caius, who is called AmesG, and Ghenghis Khant. 12P-Foster begat ListenerX, who gave himself unto the worship of false gods. 13Phantom Hoover begat SuperJosh, who was cursed with the mark of n00b, Edgerunner76, and Jeeves.

14The children of SuperJosh: SuperJosh begat Gooniepunk2010. 15Gooniepunk2010 begat MeiII, Aboriginal Noise, AD, and Neveruse, who betrayed him. 16But the curse of SuperJosh was fulfilled through the line of Gooniepunk2010, and none of his children flourished 17and all of his seed was eaten up by the birds and never heard of again until the end of time.

18The children of SusanG: SusanG begat Pi, who is called transcendental. 19Pi begat Ace McWicked, Toast, who was very like unto his own mother, 20and Psygremlin, Waiting for Godot and Secret Squirrel. 21Ace McWicked did feast on the fruit of the grape, and did beget Refugee. 22The other descendents of Human: 23AmesG begat Pinto's5150, 24and Pinto's5150 begat Jazzman831. 25Genghis Khant begat Lily. 26And so endeth the line of Trent.

Crat Table[edit]

larronsicut fur in nocte 21:11, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

According to this chart Linus cratted himself. Is that possible? Is that a sin in the eyes of Trent? Does that make him our resident Onan? DickTurpis (talk) 22:06, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Shoot, looks like I missed a few. Though it's gonna be hard to decide which ones to take "seriously". Linus cratted himself, Trent, and Colin when installing the MediaWiki, IIRC. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:50, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
