Hi Damo and welcome. That political compass always worries me as well. It's got me as some revolutionary socialist whereas I consider myself to be most moderate. I suspect that it's written in American terms where to be "moderate" is to be left-wing revolutionary. But don't tell anybody I said that.--Bobbing up 09:06, 29 June 2008 (EDT)

Ah, that's a relief. Those $cions's can be a real pain in the neck. I used to follow their progress on the Operation Clambake message board, and the Conservapedians's are logical, rational and considered in comparison.--Damo2353 02:03, 6 July 2008 (EDT)

Well, there are some (and I certainly wouldn't be one of them) who might suggest possibly that calling someone an idiot is less effective when you make a spelling mistake in the same sentence. Damo2353 03:27, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

I certainly understand that feeling and I can even see why you would think that.... but I think that spelling mistakes prove nothing. Maybe the person is just a bad speller... it's the same issue I had with people saying George W Bush's speaking mistakes prove he's stupid... it just proves he doesn't speak well... anyway... what was this about.... I forget... oh, yeah, thanks again. :) SirChuckBThis country needs more Rutabegas 03:38, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

Scnt Religion post[edit]

I tried to format your post for clarity - but I'm not sure if I made it better. Perhaps you could you check it out?--Bobbing up 10:38, 13 July 2008 (EDT)

Thanks, I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to the wiki editing thing. Perhaps if someone disagrees strongly enough with me we could start a debate page on it.--Damo2353 10:51, 13 July 2008 (EDT)
If it really takes off we could cut it to a debate space, but I'd say it seems to be appropriate on the Scnt page for now. I'd also say it's really is a question of fact - if we can nail down the definition(s) of religion and then match Scnt to that it should be a no-brainier. Now you're presenting me with a challenge... <blink></blink> 10:53, 21 July 2008 (EDT)
Whilst it saddens me that my friend would fall for the religious cult that is Hexadecimal, I believe in religious freedom and tolerance. Hence I shall not try to dissuade him.--Damo2353 11:07, 21 July 2008 (EDT)
We're not a cult; we're like one big family. Except with guard towers and a lot of barbed wire. <blink></blink> 11:15, 21 July 2008 (EDT)
Thank you for that information, I shall go and alter the wikipedia article on Hexadecimal. It seems to have been infiltrated by POV pushers (liberals no doubt) who suggest that it is a cult. Perhaps Andy should be alerted to this example of liberal bias in Wikipedia.--Damo2353 11:21, 21 July 2008 (EDT)
Indeed! I shall call him directly!

Anybody care to wager?[edit]

Would anyone care to wager that their country will do better at the Olympics per head of population than mine, New Zealand.--DamoHi 00:56, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

One dollar!!! (on what?) ħumanUser talk:Human 00:58, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Australia usually does better per head of capita than New Zealand, only small Pacific or Caribbean nations that mange to win only one gold medal do better. Although if were to go by amount spent by the government unnecessarily on sport per gold medal Australia would definitely win (or lose depending on how we are measuring this). 3.14159 (not signed in) 01:04, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
And if we were to judge based on grammar?....... ? ħumanUser talk:Human 02:39, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
(EC)Well we have 4 million odd people and I am prepared to say that we will do better than any other major country per capita (basically I am just showing my country's inferiority complex). Bluster and arrogance is good right?--DamoHi 01:07, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
Dunno about that Pi, might be the case in the past but this year we are looking ok.--DamoHi 01:07, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
How badly is my dollar leveraged? I am only gambling one :) I expect to lose it, you are free to determine the structure of the bet! ħumanUser talk:Human 01:52, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
Well I would say we use the following points system Gold =3, Silver =2 and Bronze =1. I also need to know what country you are from and the population there. We then divide the total number of points by the population and the highest wins.--DamoHi 02:00, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
I see you are Welsh and a quick look at WP suggests the UK has 60,587,300 people. NZ has (WP again) 4,268,000. Also included (because I'm sure we all agree beating Australia is the most important thing) is Australia with 21,370,000, and the US with 304,798,000.--DamoHi 02:12, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
If my bet counts as Welsh, why do I get leveraged over the whole UK??? Or, can I be Kommonwealth, and leverage/dilute my winnings over every country with a Kween on their money? Or, perversely, am I stuck with being Murkin, which is where I live? Or kan I haz win if anyone wins, as citizen of the globe? ħumanUser talk:Human 03:29, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

For the record

(1) I realize that the whole exercise shows our great inferiority complex.

(2) I predict (without having done any research at all) the result will go NZ, Aus, GB, US DamoHi 02:13, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

No someone like The Bahamas will win because they have gotten gold last time and have a population of about 330,000. All it takes is a small country to take out gold and they have this one rapped up. 3.14159 (not signed in)02:20, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes of course, I am only predicting the order of the four countries mentioned.DamoHi 02:36, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
We were betting on tiddlywinks, right? Or was it the farting contest? Either way, I prolly lost my "US" dollar to the pot... Oh well! ħumanUser talk:Human 02:46, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

Hey Damo[edit]

Long time, how you been? How about the recent springboks/AB's game? Fucking shocking! I didn't see it, thank fuck (because in the event I did watch it I woulda been with my South African fiancee and her Saffa family), but the replays were painful. Ace McWickedNecron99 10:04, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

I have been pretty well really. I got laid off from my job in Dunedin in November and struggled to find work, so much so that I am now living up in Tauranga and working as a kiwifruit pruner where there is always work. Anyways I have been following RW a little in my absence and I notice there have been a lot of developments. The biggest news for me was the trial of my old flatmate Clayton Weatherston. I knew him for about 3 years and lived with him for 1. He was certainly an odd fellow then, but I was pretty good friends with him for a time, until I had a massive fight with him and he flew into a psychopathic rage and threatened all sorts of different things. This was in 2006 and from what I have read he actually got worse over time.
The rugby wasn't so good last week but it could have been much worse. What the AB's lack in skill and strategy they make up for in courage and determination - something which could not always be said for All Black teams in recent history. I suspect they will win this weekend. DamoHi 12:33, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
No shit? Clayton Weatherston eh? Lucky he didn't lose his glasses when you fought with him, then you'd be stabbed/bashed/fucked into a bloody pulp. Ace McWickedNecron99 19:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
He must be the most hated person in NZ at them moment. It's funny because when people met him and know him for a short time they all thought he was very charming and nice, if a little odd. All Blacks awful. No strategy, no game plan. DamoHi 09:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

All Blacks/France[edit]

Did you see the game last weekend? It was sublime.Rad McCool 01:19, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh yeah. Amazing wasn't it. I love my rugby but even I have to admit I was a little bored with the game until last weekend. I watched it on the internet. Hopefully I can find a site to watch tonight's game on. --DamoHi 05:30, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Whereabouts are you based? I didn't realize you were a kiwi.--DamoHi 05:03, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm from Wellington, Ace's current stomping ground, but moved to Melbourne about 7 years ago. I'm with you on the game starting to get slightly dull but it could, I'm hoping, be at a turning point. Looking forward to the Barbarians tomorrow morning. I would like to see another fast running game.Rad McCool 05:08, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Well there's no excuse for a boring game tomorrow as its a baabaa's game. Their team seems to be full of SaFa's though so could be a worry.--DamoHi 05:18, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Its good to see we're playing basically a full strength team. My partner (she's a hardcore Wallabies supporter) is excited cause McCaw is playing. I'm not allowed to talk when he is on screen.Rad McCool 05:23, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
McCaw eh. Fair enough too. I wish my girlfriend was into rugby. I can't persuade her to even watch an AB's game with me. She's a little more tolerant of Cricket but not much.--DamoHi 05:30, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Place to watch rugby on my computer in the cold? I saw three games last month on Merkin telly and it was true sport. Want more. ħumanUser talk:Human 06:32, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Try googling myp2p and you'll come to a site that schedules all sorts of sports. You need to download some special software to get it going and its all a bit hit and miss but normally you can watch whatever sport you like. It's all free though there are a lot of ads while you watch but I suppose one can't really complain about that. --DamoHi 07:02, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

You can leave your post as is if you were actually voting.
