Despite having had Sysopship thrust upon me against my express wishes, I hereby pledge to do a moderately barely acceptable job, as it would appear that I have little say in the matter anyway. Also, since I, apparently unlike some of my more touchy-feely colleagues, consider Sysops appointed representatives of the RationalWiki community as a whole, I furthermore pledge that if you impugn my motives without warrant, or challenge my "AUTHORATIE", and by extention that of the community as such, I both can and will ban you so hard that the relativistic effects will be sufficient to kick you into next week. Goatspeed!

A special request

We need the touch of someone with perhaps a more historical, literary, and sociological perspective to review my efforts to expand Template:AOTW Descriptions. To me, at least, you seemed an excellent choice. Just in case you are not aware these are the descriptions used at RationalWiki:Article of the Weak. tmtoulouse beset 00:27, 2 August 2008 (EDT)

Sure, I'll be happy to take a look. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 04:55, 2 August 2008 (EDT)

Just when you thought it was safe...

I pounce on you and ressurect and ancient feud. Have at ye!

Took me ages to find a good version of that second one. I would have prefered "Twenty-Four Hours" for the first, as well. It's even gloomier.
I'm going to stop nitpicking now. ~ Gloom(is never asleep) 10:54, 2 August 2008 (EDT)

A duckroll! I haven't been duckrolled for... well, for at least nine months or so, I guess. And Joy Division is uncharacteristically listenable compared with your usual selections. This'll be hard to beat. I wonder who knows what to do? Oh! I know! --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 14:51, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Actually, I find JD a lot less tuneful than my usual. I suppose your poor scrambled-up Danish ears cannot distinguish that, though.
I hope you like purple! ~ Gloom(is never asleep) 14:31, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Hey, I think I rememeber that game. Or something like it. But yes, I do like purple. In fact, I like it so much that I was going to put something by Deep Purple here. But then I said to myself: "Amaranth! That's far too obvious. You can do much better than that." And surprisingly, I found that I agreed with myself. So since it appears to be a bit of a theme recently, I'm going to offer up some more game-related music instead. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 19:18, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
I think you meant this... Basic mistake, but I won't hold it against you. ~ Gloom(is never asleep) 20:03, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
I can assure you that I most certainly did not. Christopher Tin's masterpiece is lightyears ahead of that piece of pedestrian emotionalism with authoritarian subtexts. LIGHTYEARS, I say! However, I don't mind humouring you in your apparent love for Disney music. For a while. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:44, 7 August 2008 (EDT)

Humourous Interlude

I have pre-empted Andy. Consider this an official prophesy :) ~ Gloom(is never asleep) 20:05, 3 August 2008 (EDT)

As a matter of fact, I completely forgot why I ever wanted to contribute to that anti-intellectualist, narrow-minded, history-falsificating crap-fest of a blog! ARGH!
...
Oooh, my poor bloodpressure. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:11, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
You've fallen on your sword, I see. Let there be a viking-themed funeral ceremony... ~ Gloom(is never asleep) 20:16, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
*insert awesome Beowulf quote that I'm too lazy to go look up here* --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:23, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Yes, yes. I'm too tired to observe proper wiki format right now. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:27, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Oh, great, now it looks like I'm talking to myself. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:28, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Oh, but you are, Andreas... --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:30, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
No I'm not. Clearly there is a liberal political agenda at work here. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:35, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
As far as I'm concerned, talking to yourself if fine as long as you don't actually disagree. Back to the drawing board, Kjeldsen :P --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:38, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
I'm afraid I must disagree... --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:41, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
I really do need to get to bed, though. Must go to work tomorrow, earn money for food, and all that. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:28, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Or money for Internet connection, more likely. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:29, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
Got to keep one's priorities straight. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 20:29, 3 August 2008 (EDT)

Cognitive dissociation, help!

OK, so here on RW we give you awards for steadfastly trying to explain the intricacies of Catholic theology to us... and yet on CP you're a Godless Liberal! [1] Man, I think if Schlafly's head gets stuck any further up his ass, it might pop back out the top and he could see again! ħumanUser talk:Human 21:57, 3 August 2008 (EDT)

Also, from Andy's irrefutable randomly-found-via-Google source: "Side Note - Viking Leif Ericson originally called North America Vinland because of the grapes they found. He is the one who discovered North America in 896 not Christopher Columbus who arrived later in 1492. Leif Ericson converted his mother to Christianity but his father remained a staunch pagan." ħumanUser talk:Human 22:04, 3 August 2008 (EDT)

More ideas: No women travelled with Columbus, either. Odds are, the first European women to arrive in the New World did not do so until the 17th century? Also, Vinland was not the only "lost settlement" - some, if not many, English settlements vanished without a clear reason too... ħumanUser talk:Human 22:22, 3 August 2008 (EDT)

Yeah, I give up. I tried arguing, reasoning, even being sympathetic to this whole "durr we must identify Christian heroes" spiel. Nothing works. But then we already knew that. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 07:28, 4 August 2008 (EDT)

Leifr Eiríksson

So, I see that damned pagan Scandinavians had nothing to do with discovering America. One of the commentators was almost to make an argument about landing in "America", and i was just waiting for him to say it, so we could remind him that his hero Chris-o-boy didn't exactly land on the continent. ;-) Fight the good fight, I suppose. --Waiting for Godot 15:01, 4 August 2008 (EDT)

Hm. That might even have been me. I did try my best to communicate in their language, but even that got nowhere. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 15:09, 4 August 2008 (EDT)

Welcome back

Was your vacation relaxing? I was wondering what had happened to you. tmtoulouse beset 18:11, 20 August 2008 (EDT)

Yes, it was great, thank you. Eight days in Belgium, indulging in history, culture and exquisite food and beer. First vacation in almost two years, too. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 04:47, 21 August 2008 (EDT)

Not souvenirs as such, no. I usually buy a mug as souvenir when I'm on holiday (since that's actually useful), but I'm running out of shelf space, so I decided not to this time. I bought a book, though. The Fair Face of Flanders by Patricia Carson. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 05:01, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
Embroidered cloth patches work well... save space, keep mem'ries, etc.? But you had fun, that's all that matters. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:17, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
