ART HATER!!!!

You know something is art because people tell you it is art. All art is marketing.

I subscribe to the "everything not a result of nature is art" definition.

"...You have to put a "box" around it because otherwise, what is that shit on the wall?"

Further evidence of Frank Zappa's general awesomeness.

my definition of art: if i can make it - it's not art.

Here's my version of "the most important thing about art", this coming from someone who does "do" art, and might even be considered "good" at it in the right light: Do you appreciate it or not? More pressingly: would you buy it for the price advertised? And if so, why?

So my opinion is thus: I don't give a shit if you call it art or not, I'm not paying you thousands of fucking dollars for a toilet with a fucking signature on it. End of.

The problem I have with art, is not so much the art it's self, but the artist. I question statements, artistic or otherwise, of people whose only experience of life, for the most part, is of being an art student and then of being an 'artist'. What qualifies these folk to make any statements on life that is relevant to anyone one in the 'real' world ?

AMassiveGay (talk)18:08, 15 December 2011

"What qualifies these folk..." Critics endorsements, apparently.

Nebuchadnezzar (talk)18:15, 15 December 2011

Because critics are a superior class of people, and totally not failed artists themselves who couldn't paint by numbers. Everyone in the world can think you're a prat, but if a critic loves it, it must be awesome.
