That was based on the Special:Statistics Page edits since RationalWiki was set up. I wonder if it counted things differently back then, say included previews in the total. Just throwing shit out there.

Interesting. Special:Statistics was reset at least once in the past, which means the values were recalculated from various other pieces of information, e.g. the edit count was probably calculated from the rev id (I'd need to check the code to answer that with certainty, but it makes sense). I dunno why it was inflated, but in any case, you'll know for sure when we reach the millionth edit because the revid is unique for every edit.
