Loch Ness Monster

In actual disgusting fact

The Loch Ness Monster, sometimes called Nessie, is a worm-like beast supposedly roaming the murky depths of Loch Ness in Scotland, and making the odd teasing surface appearance when only shaky handed photographers with poorly focussed cameras are present. Hoax photographers and others of limited vision tend to cast the dreadful Orm as a plesiosaur, making it more attractive to a juvenile audience. The factual reality is far more horrible[1] than most folk are able to stomach.

It is worth a small fortune to the Scottish tourism industry in general, and to the economies of Inverness and the highlands in particular. It should, therefore, be treated as a fact, not a scam, and all skepticism put aside for the greater good of the puir wee bairns.

[edit] Surgeon's photograph

"The Surgeon's photo" (taken in 1934)

The most famous photograph of the Loch Ness Monster is the "Surgeon's Photo", taken by Colonel Robert Wilson, a surgeon in the British Army in 1934. Although convincing in the cropped version, a full sized version of the photograph eventually emerged showing that the "head" of the monster was actually remarkably small, it was later revealed to be pretty much a complete hoax.[2] Looking closely at the supplied photograph, one can clearly see a goat swimming away from the camera, tilting its head to the left for supposed aerodynamic reasons.
