Essay talk:A Brief Note on Ron Paul supporters

A friend of mine is trying to convince Democrats to convert to Republicans for the sake of getting him nominated. I think there's a website devoted to it preaching the Gospel of Ron Paul. Scarlet A.pngbomination 03:20, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Ironically, that's one of the reasons the Republican Party opposes open primaries; they fear non-diehard conservatives will subvert the will of the party. Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 03:29, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

The Paulbots make the Obama frenzy in 2008 look like a standard news day. Aside from his efforts against the PATRIOT Act and the War on Terror, his economic and social policies are incredibly dangerous. Osaka Sun (talk) 03:37, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

I think much of it is driven by the fact that Paul is the only true anti-war candidate available. His economic policy has always been quite obviously crackpot. I had no dog in the game in terms of absolving Paul, but I am still of the opinion that his whatever "Report" was hijacked for the Rockwell-Rothbard "palelibertarian/populist" campaign of the '80s and '90s. However, previously I thought this was just gross incompetence on Paul's part, but since evidence of him referring to the Report has arisen, it's totally indefensible. And when this the least bad option... Scarlet A.pngtheist 03:52, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't know that there is a "least bad option," though that might be saying something even worse about US politics. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 04:00, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I believe the least bad option involves emigrating to Canada :-) Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 04:01, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Uh, not right now you don't. Osaka Sun (talk) 04:57, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Very relevant article recently penned by Conor Friedersdorf. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 07:24, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
That's a very interesting article, Nebs! Hollow (talk) 15:53, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
At least there are some sane people out there. Osaka Sun (talk) 10:26, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Should this be added as a 'See Also' on the Ron Paul page? PeterQuasniki 2012!Flag of the United States (Pantone).svg 08:57, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

It even wouldn't be a bad idea to devote an entire article on the Paulbot phenomenon itself. Osaka Sun (talk) 10:41, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Yes, this article makes some extremely valid points. Paul is really a conservative with some libertarian ideas (e.g. end the War on Terror, end the Fed, voted against the PATRIOT ACT) but is fully supportive of big government at the state and local levels. Perhaps some of his more loyal supporters should look at some of this.--Colonel Sanders (talk) 11:24, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
