Rank anti-intellectualism (fleh)
Well, I guess that second question could also be phrased as "What have racist assholes ever given us?"
Well, one racist asshole single-handedly avoided what would have been the greatest and most long lasting conflict ever, possibly leading to nuclear armageddon.
(The second answer in that post under the ---- bit is hilariously missing the point so hard it must be intentional)
I hope you've learned your lesson: Science is racist and lit students like Derrida...or something.
Hell all I know is that the word "post-structuralist" puts me to sleas, fffffa,
See... I nodded off part way through that sentence just typing it.
Oh, then you'll hate the next thing that's getting written where I basically blame everything on Grammar Nazis.
Eh, screw Derrida anyway. Read Foucault. Also, I don't care too much for grammar Nazis either.
What is it that Foucault is supposed to have said or come up with that makes him such a Big Damn Hero? I've seen a lot of hero worship, but with Foucault it just goes into overdrive, yet I have no idea what it is he's talking about. I've read the WP article and a few relating to it and it just seems to say nothing that has any bearing on reality.
Foucault did attract something of a cult of personality during his life that made "Foucaldian analysis" into a Theory of Everything a la Marxism, logical positivism, etc. I find those guys annoying as well. Start out with something less grandiose in scope -- read Madness and Civilization. It has a lot to do with reality, specifically the conceptualization of madness in early modern Europe, the use of the forerunners of psychiatric disciplines for oppressive purposes, and the "Great Confinement" in which prisons and asylums sprung up all over Europe.
