Surely the use of the word "alleged" in from of the term "medium" is redundant? Is there any other kind of medium?

While on one level I agree with you, since no one is actually a "medium", they can only be "alleged" or "self described" and we should say that. Otherwise, it reads like we acknowledge that there are such beings. ħuman ^{be in} 16:31, 20 August 2008 (EDT)

Yeah, there are other kinds of mediums, see map–territory relation. The fact that "authentic mediums" only exist conceptually, but not in reality, doesn't matter. This is particularly true since a decent percentage of the time that the term "medium" is used, it's intended to mean "authentic medium". --Toiretni 16:43, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
