1/1000 highly effective[edit]

"It should be noted that even when the odds of getting pregnant on correctly used contraception is 1 in 1000 (99.9% effective), with over 50,000,000 American women using hormonal birth control each year,[4] approximately 50,000 women in the United States will still face an unwanted pregnancy when they've done everything right."

Added tags for citation needed. 1/1000 (99.9%) needs sourcing, as does the extrapolation that 50,000 face unwanted pregnancies. On the face of it, such products will market themselves as "over 99% effective" or "over 99.9% effective" even if the true efficacy is more like 99.99%. Efficacy will vary depending on type of hormonal contraception. Kauri0.o (talk) 22:19, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
