2018[edit]

December 2018[edit]

  • I was introduced to Rationalwiki when reading Tvtropes's article on Conservapedia a long, long time ago. I had an interest in science and rationalism even back then, but Rationalwiki helped nurture it. It's not an exaggeration to say that I would be an entirely different person if I hadn't found this site. Thank you. Parzival (talk)
  • I was first introduced to RationalWiki in 2017 when running into articles over YouTubers, such as Shoe0nhead and No Bullshit. I initially thought the website was just full of random circlejerk articles about certain people until I checked the rest of the website. I was certainly wrong and it provided much more than I thought. I then got immediately hooked, but never really took a chance to create an account until very recently. -đ“Șđ“”đ“źđ” here! 17:00, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
  • I used to be a somewhat pro-gamergate individual, and when I heard about the supposedly shitty article RW had written on them, I decided to have a look for myself. Ironically, the article ended up opening a whole can of worms about the “movement” and their awful actions that I wasn’t even aware of, and after seeing the page debunking a bunch of their common arguments I ended up becoming heavily anti-gamergate. After that I became hooked on the site, lurking around for a bit and making the occasional ip edit, before making an account of my own. Wiseassmathematician (talk) 01:42, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
  • I received the revelation of the existence of RW in a haze after taking some of those drugs that allow you to become one with the universe. Oh man, that's some good shit. Anyways, I received the revelation from a divine messenger, a goat with the body of a man decked out in BDSM wear while preparing to ram a huge dildo into my ass, felt so fucking good, Ohhh, Oahhhh! Then the URL to RW appeared right in front of my face, like text floating across a screen but real. That was when I received a place in the psych ward the secrets of the universe itself, contained in the form of RationalWiki. — Æ‰Ăžn ÄŽuan Harass 17:07, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

November 2018[edit]

  • I was looking for the "Had it not been for the laws of this land" meme and Google decided I must be looking for info about the Freeman on the land. 93.210.84.185 (talk) 20:15, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
  • This was the first hit on Google when searching for "lycanthropy in the Bible". — Unsigned, by: 82.14.30.227 / talk / contribs

  • I originally found this website years ago (in the before-fore times) when I was looking up some background information on some extremely stupid people that someone on the internet was citing as experts on some ridiculous conspiracy theory, not even a half-decent conspiracy theory. I'm not saying I use RW as a primary source if I'm fact-checking something but I do often check it out to confirm my suspicions that someone is trying to feed me some bullshit. --210.92.111.30 (talk) 16:51, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

October 2018[edit]

  • The reality gave me headache and Wikipedia doesn't really try to answer my questions, That's why I had to look for logical answers myself. And that's how I found this great community. -- RationalOrdeal (talk) 21:25, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
  • One day I was reading Urban Dictionary (an online crowd-sourced slang dictionary- don't ask) when I came across an article on Wikipedia's infamous evil twin. Curious, I decided to check it out, and when I read some of its articles (particularly the atheism and homosexuality-related ones), I laughed so hard that my head hurt! (although I was thoroughly nauseated by "Atheism and Obesity", "Atheism and bestiality", and especially "Atheism and Rape", as I am an atheist myself, and those are all a bunch of deliberate half-truths). When I looked up what others had to say about that truly atrocious, trusworthy, and heavily-biased wiki, then that's when I came across the CP-related articles on this wonderful wiki, and another of my favorites, RW's newly-deconverted atheist guide (which really kind of reflects what I myself had experienced more than a year ago, during my own deconversion process), and I almost instantly fell in love! I really enjoy most of RW's articles (except for the ones on "Islamophobia" and the one on Ayaan Hirsi Ali- no religion should be above criticism!), and after a few months, I even created my own account so that I can help improve this site! Since then, I have made numerous edits, and the day before I wrote this comment, I even created my very first new article- the first of many more soon to come! -BP9, October 16, 2018

September 2018[edit]

  • Once got frustrated with media and newspaper, so i started to dig what is been hidden from us by the so called 'media and newspaper'. Thus i found rationalwiki after a lots of forum. — Unsigned, by: Sirius / talk / contribs

  • Found it sometime in November-December 2017. Don't remember how or what my first article was, but the first article I remember reading was about Milo Yiannopolous. (<ClintWayne>ClintWayne (talk) 20:50, 16 September 2018 (UTC)</ClintWayne>)
  • I stumbled onto RationalWiki about 3 years ago after finding a RationalWiki article on debunking a hard-green environmentalist book (the name I can't recall). Read a few more articles and have been a big fan ever since. Decided to join to show my appreciation and maybe contribute as well! Hoppy Kangaroo HoppyKangaroo (talk) 00:21, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Fell into an internet hole after being on Reddit and reading about 'Pizzagate'. — Unsigned, by: 5.68.229.133 / talk

August 2018[edit]

  • I've been familiar with it for a while, but decided to make an account today because I feel that I could add a lot of useful insights. (something that isn't possible on authoritarian Cuckservapedia) Ambition of Truth (talk) 23:10, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

July 2018[edit]

  • I dunno. Maybe looking up creationism did it. --UglyRat (talk) 21:20, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

June 2018[edit]

  • I found RationalWiki through a friend who is an expert on esoteric events of the unusual kind (among other things) who mentioned it on IRC. This was I think about 6-7 months ago IIRC, I didn't consider actually contributing at the time, being busy admining on another wiki. I decided to get started here for real because there is no commentary here on some topics I am interested in, as it's a go-to destination for many things, why not contribute some stuff. Dysklyver (talk) 11:02, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
  • I found RationalWiki trying to find commonly used arguments against anthropogenic climate change so that I could understand them. Disagree with a lot of the politics here, but highly respect the "truth emerging through well-cited discourse" aspects of the site. CluelessWhiteKnight (talk) 5:32 18 June 2018 (UTC)
  • I found RationalWiki through a FaceBook timeline entry. Mason4057 (talk) 19:01, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
  • I was looking into the history and ...let's say questionable claims of GamerGate, stumbling upon RationalWiki's pages on the subject. I liked what I saw, appreciated the mix of sly sarcasm and clear-headed critical thinking, and stuck around. KurtOfCambridge (talk) 16:40, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

May 2018[edit]

  • I found RationalWiki while browsing Uncyclopedia, I'm slightly ashamed to say. I mostly stay here now, as the humour is better and more mature... and there's less by way of... mature images, shall we say. PrinceofAntioch (talk) 17:47, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
  • I was referred here by Miles Mathis. I don't know how I discovered Miles in the first place, but he's definitely one of the most entertaining sites on the internet. Personally, I think he's a fake sock puppet maintained by the intelligence community to discredit those who are blowing the lid off the real conspiracy. Pgramsey (talk) 14:00, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
  • A news article I was reading about Elon Musk meeting his partner Grimes mentioned they'd bonded over their shared belief in Roko's Basilisk, & RationalWiki's article on the topic was the first result when I Googled the unfamiliar term. LustStarrr (talk) 01:53, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Reading on coming up events, an article on IDAHOTB lead me to search "transphobia", RW was the 3rd link after Wikipedia and merriam-webster. 77.111.244.4 (talk) 09:14, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
  • I learnt about Godwin's Law from Discord, then after some Google searching, I stumbled upon a creationist site with a list of "Criminals who were atheists." As an Ex-Catholic atheist myself, the site made my blood boil with its nonsensical so called "proofs", so I set out to disprove them and found RationalWiki. Morgan Paradise (talk) 07:38, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

April 2018[edit]

  • I had initially been referred to Conservapedia by a friend of mine and noticed almost instantly the far-right, Christian bias that sought to prove how immoral gay marriage was and decided that it was not the proper resource for me. I then looked up, "Leftist equivalent to Conservapedia," and immediately stumbled upon RationalWiki. — Unsigned, by: Jaspifer / talk / contribs

March 2018[edit]

  • I found about it on Wikipedia. Felicia777 (talk) 01:51, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Looked for a usable overview of altright and masculism. S. 16 March 2018 (UTC)—It's sort of unsigned, by 78.54.70.158
  • Arrived at your door late last year struggling to find a good explanation for what Confirmation Bias meant. Your articles were so helpful that now I'm here to stay.X4Unknown (talk) 20:52, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Found this site years ago looking for links to logical fallacies to share with friends who were unfamiliar. Recently landed here on the page for James Damore when researching the extremely poor news coverage of his memo. Lans Ellion 05:30, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Got tired of being a paranoid cranky idiot and started questioning (nearly)everything.(Catmandude (talk) 22:16, 13 March 2018 (UTC))
  • Came across this site when I looked for articles about logical fallacies.--Klaksozavr (talk) 19:02, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Been reading for a while since a couple of years ago, after I was doing a search on-- (of course)-- Time Cube. The resulting page explained-- well, no. Didn't explain crap. But it didn't explain crap in a cogerent and entertaining fashion. This has, over a few years, become my go-to place for info on the latest in peusdoscience and crankery (if not politics, I'm afraid I'm a bit moreRight-center than most here) and the latest in the world of Dear God, WHY? WHY does anyone THINK that?!? Kencolt (talk) 07:33, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Just stumbled across this years ago, edited anonymously for a while. Jerrytheman9 (talk) 04:33, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

February 2018[edit]

  • While reading Genesis, I wanted to learn about the geography of the Bible, and somehow I ended up on Köfels impact event. Jswise (talk) 23:35, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
  • I had stumbled across a dubious documentary on netflix titled "Patient Seventeen" and ended up here via readdit in my attempt to determine whether or not this was something along the lines of "The Blair Witch Project" without requiring that I stain my brain with it first.Rlneumiller (talk) 03:57, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

January 2018[edit]

  • I was trying to better understand the epistemological development of the scientific method and I found the articles in this wiki to be excellent. I searched to see if it incorporated pneuma in its article on the Holy Spirit and when I saw that it hadn't I discerned that this site could use my input and thus I became a contributor. AndyChrist (talk) 19:25, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Got linked to this place from god knows where roughly 3-4 years ago. First page was the gold standard. At least, that's what my browser history says.YourLocal4chanExpert (talk) 11:58, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
