Bible thumper

A bible thumper is a Christian who can't keep their beliefs to themselves, and constantly needs to quote chapter and verse when discussing other topics - especially science.

The term comes from old timey roadshow preachers who would emphatically thump a bible held aloft while making their points in an attempt to lead the flock to salvation. Or a lynching.
