Welcome to the RationalWiki Intercom. This system allows users to send messages to other users quickly and easily.

In order to receive or send messages you must join one or more of the groups located here. Once you add yourself to a group, you will receive any messages sent to that group, and be able to send out your own messages to its other members. You can join or leave any group at anytime.

To send a message simply write it in the box below then use the drop down menu to select the group you would like to send it to. There is also the option of selecting an expiration time after which the message will not be displayed to users in the group (it will still be archived on this page). It is highly recommended this option be used for any time sensitive messages to avoid piling up stale messages for users that are absent for a period of time.

You can create your own groups by editing this file, simply add the name of the group below the existing groups, following the formatting carefully.

There are two special groups. The first is the "Site wide (urgent)" group, this sends a message to every user account on the site, and cannot be joined or left. Only a few people are allowed to send out messages to this group, and it will only be used to announce important information about the site that is relevant to all users. The second special group is the "sandbox". Once you join this group, any messages sent to it will only be visible to you, so you can use it to experiment with the intercom system without annoying everyone else.

The intercom system uses a condensed system of wiki markup and html tags. So far it supports:

  • Standard interwiki and external links using the bracket syntax
  • The <small>, <br>, and <i> html tags
