Thanks for putting this article up - I remember hearing about horsey as a child - I seem to remember that in one version of the tale he goes to Spain for a bit ? --Cgday 05:02, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

It's thought that Cervantes may have been inspired by the story of Horsey when writing Don Quixote, especially the section with the famous attack on the windmills, so this backs up the tale of his trip to Spain.

Ah right - I knew it came from somewhere - thanks for that! --Cgday 19:03, 9 April 2007 (EDT)

It's little known that William Wallace named his favourite horse 'Alltid' as an affectionate rememberance of the - perhaps - myth of the great Horserider.

I don't totally get it, not being from the area and all. But I assume there never was such a character. --Kels 06:46, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

All fiction. Based on what I gather to be the rallying cry of a over-zealous Scottish Nationalist who contributes to Guardian Unlimited Talk. WhatIsG0ing0n 07:03, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

Nice one Foxy Lulz! Babel fishÅЯṬђŮŖ ÐΣйṬNow look here! 08:49, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

The poetry that we worked out for the poets praising Horsey was even better. Signed: WoD

There you go - I've even put it in for you. - WoD

Love it, best thing I've seen all day. Trashbat 07:55, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

you're welcome! - WoD

BTW - unless Fox is under REALLY deep cover he didn't write the original article. That was done by others, including me (although I didn't have a CP account). - WoD

Hehehehehe, I know exactly where it came from. Pity I never dropped in when I was adding my own stuff over there! Trashbat 08:32, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Here's the scoop[edit]

There was a group from the Guardian Unlimited talkboard -- http://talk.guardian.co.uk/ -- who created a number spoof articles on Conservapedia -- see http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=Glasgow&oldid=159773 for a brilliant example. The Horseider article is one of these spoofs. There is a regular contributor to the GUT (as it is known to the people there) who posted under the name of Horserider, affectionately known as "Horsey".

Horsey claimed to be an extreme Scots nationalist, although it turned out that he did not live in Scotland. He actually lived in Hemel Hempstead, a suburb of London, although he later spent a year or so in Prague. The article is filled with GUT in jokes.— Unsigned, by: 67.167.67.173 / talk / contribs

Although (to be fair) the Hemel Hemstead thing started as a joke assumption (I think) that just became part of "Horsey lore". In a simelar way, there's no actual proof Horsey ever went to Prague! WoD

Thank you[edit]

I'm new to this wiki lark, but if someone tells me how (and I have permissions to do so) I'll stick it on my user page. WoD (talk) 08:12, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
