I wish a user's contribution list showed the size of the diff like the recent changes list does -- I wonder if there's some way to make it?

Without direct access to the wiki software (or its database, you'd have to do something like a Greasemonkey solution (access the history, grab the content of this version and the previous one, calculate diff size). I could look into it on the weekend if you like... (unless one of our resident coding gurus with less rusty GM skills wants to pick it up) --Sid 06:26, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
I've found the information needed to do it reasonably; now it's just a Simple Matter of Programming. The magic bit I didn't know before was: http://site/index.php?title=PAGETITLE&oldid=VERSIONID&action=raw will get you just the wikisource for that version of that page. Once you have that, you can do your own diff
Interesting! Only problem seems to be that you apparently can't do a "&oldid=123&diff=prev&action=raw" thing to access the raw version of the previous edit (to make a good comparison of the two). Scratch that, I found the documentation and thus the proper way of accessing that. Still, interesting. And a suggestion: Should I do a careful snip+paste of the coding talk into the talk space? --Sid 13:22, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
You've found docs? I've been working just from source & experimentation. I was planning on doing diffs on the client side, using that syntax to pull down both versions. Is there a better way? And feel free to snip or summarize into talk space.
Yes, check here for a list of actions and arguments. Some actions/arguments may not work on CP, though. For example, the "diffonly" argument doesn't seem to work there. Anyway, I might start some coding tonight to make a simple "+/-x" calculation. --Sid 13:50, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Sandra Day O'Connor[edit]

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! I also love the crippled text of the article now: "Sandra Day O'Connor was the woman justice ever appointed to the high court." And he actually removed a category... along with all the other stuff. Total WTF, I can't even begin to-... oh, wait. I can. It's exactly like you said. He edited the initial revision and added categories to that (Rob-o-Vision). WTF. --Sid 08:46, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

  • RobS reverts 5 days worth of good (albeit small) changes to 'add cat'. how long before he notices?
Please Note: Sockpuppets & trolls have ZERO credibility and all contributions will be removed regardless of content. RobS, DIC. 09:40, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
Colest is a sockpuppet or troll? I wonder if s/he's aware of your opinion? 500+ good edits you'll have to take out, I guess. --jtltalk 12:00, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
And I'll be happy to revert 15 days of good work if I have the hint it is done by anyone with a record of any sort of questionable editing. RobS 22:08, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
Do you understand what you're saying? You're calling one of your most productive un-banned editors a sockpuppet or troll. If you're just going to follow him/her around undoing everything, why not just block Colest and get it done with? And why not at least fix the freakin' grammer error you re-instated?
With sysops like you, CP doesn't need vandals. --jtltalk 23:23, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
Sure it needs vandals. Without T3h Ev1l, what excuse would they have to mass-delete anything that might produce Cognitive Dissonance in The Faithful? --Gulik 01:28, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

First act of deception[edit]

If I felt like nitpicking (and I always do :), there's an even better reason for Andy to cut the bit about the serpent in the Garden of Eden from cp:Deceit: the Serpent was TELLING THE TRUTH. God lied to Eve, telling her she'd die if she ate the fruit. --Gulik 00:52, 4 June 2007 (CDT)

Theory?[edit]

Sometimes I wonder if the sysops over at CP are clueless or very stubborn. Take RobS and the Boston Globe hilarity. Does he really not understand the piece is making fun of them for sounding like Pat Robertson or did he realize his mistake and have too much pride (or something) to admit he's wrong? It's kinda cute (in the god kills kittens every time you masterbate sorta way) how they continue to argue points they've been pwn3d on and have no chance of winning. Jrssr5 07:41, 7 June 2007 (CDT)

Its official - CP sysop pwns RW in use of irony battle! :D לול 07:54, 7 June 2007 (CDT)

Wooyi - and it just gets sillier[edit]

I poked around in the Wooyi things and went "What the-" at cp:User talk:Wooyi. Even with CheckUser, they apparently still have to fire blindly, hoping to make the accused go "OH NOES! BUSTED!". Kinda sad, really. --Sid 10:01, 7 June 2007 (CDT)

Somewhat related: Conservative shows us how to handle discussions about content: Gather allies and alert people in higher positions. Hooray for communication skills! --Sid 16:04, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
