On reflection this is mainly 90s electronica with some other noisy and random things.

Ooh, somebody else who likes Boards of Canada. Nice! Also, Superfast Jellyfish > Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach. Snoop Dogg just isn't up to the quality of the rest of the project, unfortunately. --Kels (talk) 22:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I actually really liked him on that track. I am indifferent to Snoop Dogg normally, but I love that song. It was the bassline that hooked me, but the vocals fit perfectly. Except the last couple of seconds, where it's just vocals. That just doesn't sound right to me. Mei (talk) 22:41, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

- Only problem I've really got with the album so far is that it's so integrated. Everything's of a high quality, which means you don't have any real standouts that rise above the rest. So no Feel Good Inc. or Dare this time, just a whole album you want to listen to as one big unit. --Kels (talk) 23:01, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I was sad that there was no Feel Good Inc this time round. Demon Days had some really iconic singles and I feel like Plastic Beach should have a single (or two) that sums up the feel of the whole album, like Feel Good Inc and Dirty Harry did. I don't really have any complaints, but I do have random nitpicks. Really, the only thing I don't like about PB is how little you hear of Damon. A lot of it almost doesn't sound like Gorillaz, even though it's all fun and very high quality. I guess I'm too picky. Mei (talk) 23:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

- There's also the fact that the video for Stylo is, well, lackluster despite being infused with Bruce Willis. I blame Jamie Hewlett for giving in to the demon of CG graphics. --Kels (talk) 23:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I like two things about the video.
- The visuals when Mos Def starts rapping (the police guy eating doughnuts) fit perfectly. I really liked that. It was a promising start.
- Murdoc's expression throughout is priceless. There are some things money can't buy. For everything else there's Murdoc.
- Apart from that it's pretty dull. Bruce Willis is clearly just messing around. Noodle is a robot. Gorillaz does not look right in 3D. The whole thing just repeats the same ideas after about 2 mins in. Mei (talk) 23:49, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- About the only one who really works for me is 2D (ironic, I know), the acting is well done. Murdock looks way too green, and the Noodle thing really doesn't make sense. I know there's an explanation that would fit in the book, but there's nothing in the video that fits. Bruce Willis was clearly having fun, though. --Kels (talk) 00:19, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- 2D looks OK, I suppose. But he doesn't really do anything. I think Noodle was supposed to have died in a previous video (El Manana?) and been replaced with a robot secretly. The whole thing is pretty stupid. Mei (talk) 00:35, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

- Actually, if I remember correctly Noodle wasn't killed, she parachuted free and it was all a ruse to fake her death. After, she got dragged down to hell and Murcock went and saved her. Meanwhile, 2D went to the US and got a law degree and Russel lost his ghosts. It's all very confusing. I think there's something in there about her being an escaped experiment from Japan in the first place, but I dunno if that means she's a robot. “”On January 22, 2010, Murdoc hijacked the online NME Radio and Yahoo! radio broadcasts to promote the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach. The bassist claimed that Noodle was never rescued after the "El Mañana" video, and that his supposed rescue attempt was a drunken delusion. With Russel's whereabouts still unknown, he and 2D have been working on the third album with the help of a Noodle cyborg constructed from Noodle's DNA from the windmill wreckage. However, due to the improbability of anything Murdoc says and the fact that only DNA was gathered, the status of the real Noodle was in question. It has since been confirmed that the real Noodle is alive.

- Murdock is sort of the definition of Unreliable Narrator, of course. As to Russell, there's been a sighting. I still don't like the Gorillaz + real environments thing, but at least it's a more classic animation style. We'll probably see more of it though, since Hewlett wasn't originally going to do a third album because he'd gotten bored of drawing the characters. The switch in styles is probably what got him interested again, pity it's nowhere near as appealing. --Kels (talk) 01:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

- I think Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett have gotten tired of the fictional band concept played straight. They've both kinda stretched the limits of Gorillaz to the point where the concept is just 'what we want to do'. We might stop seeing characters entirely. Mei (talk) 01:18, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- It's a pity, given that one of the things that always drew me to the Gorillaz was the animation. There aren't many bands that use it nearly as well, and it's a shame that Hewlett might be abandoning that. --Kels (talk) 01:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
