Isn't everybody's favourite vampyre hunter, Seán Manchester, some sort of pope? Bob Soles (talk) 16:27, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Don't be ridiculous, he's a vampire-hunting bishop. Calling himself Pope would be silly. Godspeed (talk) 16:30, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Is this wacko enough to be a conspiracy theory? -- Seth Peck (talk) 16:45, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

I don't think it fits the definition particularly well. Conspiracy theories typically involve an "official version" (Oswald acted alone/Neil Armstrong walked on the moon) which is in conflict with the "true facts" (the CIA killed Kennedy/the Moon landings were faked). I don't think sedevacantists necessarily allege, say, any hidden irregularities in the papal election process, just that Ratso doesn't wear the Triple Crown or that he is a "Modernist" (snigger) based on views that are not as crazy as they would hope. Godspeed (talk) 17:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I find it amusing that there could be a bunch of 'popes' arguing about which of them is the real Napoleon. ±Knightoftldrsig.pngKnightOfTL;DRgarrulous en guerre 17:15, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I love how they bitch about "Modernism" but seem to have no problems with when the Papal chair was controlled by decadent Italian families and was so outrageous, it spawned the god damn protestant movement! --Revolverman (talk) 17:23, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Gotta love that incest and hosted orgies with scores of prostitutes. Ah, that Banquet of Chestnuts when the men who had the most sex were given prizes... Machismo at its finest! ±Knightoftldrsig.pngKnightOfTL;DRmore at 11 17:31, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm hoping for another cadaver synod. Godspeed (talk) 17:40, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I spoke too soon. At least some sedevacantists subscribing to conspiracy theories. Godspeed (talk) 18:08, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Don't forget 'that chair with the hole in it.' How does the Coptic Papacy (and any other papal sequences) fit into the sedevacantists weltanschauung? Or Malachy's prophecy of the Popes. 212.85.6.26 (talk) 18:36, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

The head of the Coptic Church of Alexandria is just a humble man not pretending to be Universal Pontiff. It's just the official title of his position reads “Pope and Lord Archbishop of the Great City of Alexandria and Patriarch of all Africa on the Holy Apostolic Holy See of St. Mark the Evangelist and Holy Apostle”. He also has honorary titles of the "Universal Judge of the Holy Apostolic and Catholic Church" and "the Thirteenth among the Holy Apostles" etc. Interestingly, there are three more Popes of Alexandria: one Eastern Orthodox and two Eastern Catholic (in communion with Rome). So there quite officially are THREE Popes in the Catholic Church. OrthodoxBeliever (talk) 11:27, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

There are four of them.

To rework William Collingbourne - the Cat(s of this opinion), the Rat(zinger) and (Pope/Lord Francis)Lovell our dog - but who would the hog be? 82.44.143.26 (talk) 19:09, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Is the collective noun for Popes a pontificate - and how many would have to be in existence at the same time (through founding their own churches, becoming Pope emeriti and otherwise) for the noun to be used?

Would an English 'local Catholicity at an angle to conventional Catholicism/Anglo-Catholicism' revive the Sarum Rite? 82.44.143.26 (talk) 16:17, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

1903 conclave[edit]

Should there be some mention of the 1903 conclave which was 'actually and provably interfered with' - and the Pope actually elected, Pius X, died on the same night as the head of the Jesuits - slightly odd if you are so inclined. 16:05, 13 March 2020 (UTC) — Unsigned, by: Anna Livia / talk / contribs
