Video[edit]

Here's a cool video showing a bee pseudo-copulating with an orchid. If you look carefully, you can see the orchid depositing two pollinia on the orchid bee, one on the abdomen then one on the head (each pollinium looks like a yellow stalk).[1] Bongolian (talk) 04:03, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, added it. Sir ℱ℧ℤℤϒℂᗩℑᑭƠℑᗩℑƠ (talk/stalk) 01:29, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Move request[edit]

I'd like to propose a move from Orchidacae to orchid. As they are one and the same (there are no non-orchids in the family, and no orchids outside it), why not use the common name instead of the scientific one? Other organism articles do. WilderBicycle 21:02, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

It's true that they're synonymous, but Wikipedia's page is Orchidaceae not orchid, so it's better to be consistent with them unless there is an overriding reason not to. Orchid redirects to Orchidaceae, so there's no obvious benefit to change things. Bongolian (talk) 21:12, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Well, first of all we're not an encyclopedia so there's no need to do what Wikipedia does, and also it would be consistent with our other organism articles. WilderBicycle 21:20, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
