Changing your mind is not hypocrisy[edit]

Rubin claims that he was "barely out [of the closet as gay] at 27" and was hiding his appreciation of Queer as Folk from his college roommates. Ironically for a talk show host who advocates for free speech and claims that self-censorship is also troublesome, he seems to have spent a lot of time self-censoring an aspect of his identity that was the cornerstone of his early career.

Most of the page accuses Rubin of being a hypocrite because in the past he have different ideas and behave different from nowadays. However, that is NOT what hypocrisyWikipedia is. On the other hand, it is quite hypocritical that the gay friendly RationalWiki essentially goes against a 41 years old gay man because, when he was 27, he hides to his roommates his appreciation of Queer as Folk. --McLaghing (talk) 22:34, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

I can't really defend the part you quoted. I'm not sure it's entirely fair to use the term "self-censorship" with respect to somebody who is figuring out their sexuality. Based on this video, Rubin believes that coming out of the closet was greatly beneficial. So even if it was a fair term to use, Rubin seems to regret that he was "self-censoring". At best, he has said self-censorship is troublesome and he concluded it was troublesome after he did it himself.
Also, this part is completely irrelevant: Ironically for a talk show host who advocates for free speech. CowHouse (talk) 04:26, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
"I can't really defend the part you quoted." <- So what to do? Essentially all the criticisms in the section "Identity politics and free speech" are based on the idea that Rubin is hypocritical because in the past he did not come out/he has different ideas than today. --McLaghing (talk) 10:25, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
It seems to me that, as someone who felt obliged to self-censor in the past, he would be more aware than usual of the problems it presents, and in a better position to know what it's like. There's no hypocrisy here. WilderBicycle 10:36, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Logic Category at the Bottom[edit]

Why is Dave Rubin included in the "logic" category and how can it be removed?

The man is a clown, he doesn't use logic. He uses that Koch dollar. Someone who has the ability should remove it. — Unsigned, by: 70.50.103.83 / talk 09:18, 31 March 2019‎ (UTC)

RIP[edit]

Dave Rubin just lost half of his income. How will he ever be able to stay involved in the Idea Revolution? TheUmbilicalCordGuy (talk) 22:00, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
