Inerestingly[edit]

Interestingly, the serious pagans that I know are equally down on the whole channeling thing, and generally believe that even if it was real, it would be a super bad idea. Seriously, would you want some long-dead stranger to take control of your mind and body? Me, I'm more partial to the Buddhist idea that there are past lives, but who cares about them? All you need for enlightenment is right here, so any memories that might exist would be nothing more than a distraction anyway. --Kels 10:38, 11 August 2007 (CDT)

I'm all for channeling if anyone can figure out a way for me to channel someone more talented than I am. 71.193.206.116 07:40, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, well, that's how you know it's fake -- no one ever does channel someone more interesting. EVDebs 04:46, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

This article is largely opinion based[edit]

"channeling" when not practiced by a con is a form of shamanism. The person is in fact in an altered state of consciousness talking to themselves. Pentecostals call it "speaking in the spirit", Wiccan Priestesses call it "drawing down the goddess".

Doesn't matter what belief system one subscribes to its just the altered states of consciousness mechanics of religious belief.
