Genomics is the study of an organism's entire genome, in contrast to genetics, which often focuses on single genes.

Genomic studies have allowed for the comparisons of genomes of different organisms, allowing a clearer picture of the evolutionary relationships between organisms.

Genomics is used to study human and other genomes to isolate the subtle differences between individuals that may be responsible for disease.
