Arceusology, also known as Poképaganism, is a polytheistic religion involving the worship of the Pokémon Arceus, as well as other powerful Pokémon such as Dialga and Palkia. Arceus was said to use His powers to prevent from Giratina, the demiurge of antimatter, from destroying His creation by ensuring baryon asymmetry.

Today scientists generally accept that all modern-day Pokémon are descended from the Pokémon Mew. Anti-science Areceusologists, who still follow Arceusologist creationism, derogatorily refer to people who accept common descent of Pokémon as Mewists.
