Forum:Quartz / Heat Surge more-efficient electrical heaters?
My assumption is that all electrical heaters are fundamentally going to be equally efficient, except for maybe heat pumps which are connected to the outside (which can effectively use 1 joule of electrical power to heat your house by 3 joules by taking 2 joules of heat from the outdoors, like an air conditioner in reverse (actual efficiency varies by condition)). Recently, though, I've noticed ads for various electrical heating devices which claim to be super efficient, like the Quartz infrared electrical heater and the Heat Surge (bonus points for claiming to be secret Amish technology). I looked for RationalWiki pages on this, but I couldn't find anything. Is there some secret that these devices have that I don't know about?
