We probably shouldn't suggest that Andy Schlafly is a child molester. Is that what we're suggesting here? If we're using some other meaning of groomer (e.g. grooming his students to be conservative, Bible-bashing, homophobic, "chivalrous" Christians; or to become CP admins), we should probably make that more explicit. actual sex offenders/sex crimes and media panic[edit]
i really dont like how on this site everything is a moral panic. sure, there are plenty of folk talking up the threat of sexual predators, grooming gangs, paedos hiding in the bushes, rapists under your bed, exaggerating and scaremongering and the like. i get it. i get that some folk like demonise certain groups as perverts and rapists. but paedophiles do exist. grooming gangs exist. sex traffickers exist. rapists exist. you would not think so if you looked at our articles on them here. we fall over ourselves to dismiss that the idea anyone has even been leered at. sure, statistically and in the great scheme of things cases number very low. thats great and all.grooming gangs are not everywhere, i know this. but the few high profile cases of grooming gangs that made the news were still horrific. if they were the only cases to occur in the world ever in the history of the world, it would still be too many. jimmy saville was but one lone serial rapist but he was still ome too many and he preyed on the vulnerable for far too long with complete impunity. we piss on their victims. we tell them they are just statistically unlucky as if falling victim to a sexual predator is akin to losing at the bingo.
will this article be actually about grooming? about what it is, what it looks like, about its victims, and the issues it presents to society at large? or just be about some cunt on fox news pulling statistics out of his arse? because we have an article on moral panics, such as it is. its titled 'moral panics'. do we really need another page on moral panics but this time titled 'grooming'?
