- (x-posted)The name is a nod to Coyote, a recurring character in Thomas King's novels and short stories. Coyote is a Native American trickster figure (similar to Anansi in West Africa) and King often refers to him a "That Coyote, That One..." We call him Coyote for short. - Thomas King is a Canadian Native author (of mixed Native-Greek-American-Canadian heritage, but he identifies as Native)who writes phenomenal short stories and one great novel, Green Grass Running Water, plus a great work of critical essays/lectures called The Truth About Stories.
