Summary
| Description | Just hours after the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade and lifted constitutional protections for abortion, a small cadre of protestors began demonstrating before Sproul Hall at the University of California, Berkeley. They held a green banner that read "POST ROE? HELL NO!" and shouted chants including "Legal abortion on demand, this decision must not stand," and "Rise up for abortion rights, for abortion rights, rise up, rise up." The protestors shared information about a demonstration at 450 Golden Gate Ave. at 5 p.m. the same day organized by Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, and appeared to be affiliated with the organization. Several participants in the protest appeared to be members of the Revolutionary Communist Party's Revolution Club, as they wore the club's characteristic black shirts bearing slogans from Bob Avakian. In the past, Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights protests on Sproul Plaza had been well attended by Revolution Club members. |
