BCE
From RationalWiki
BCE stands for Before (the) Common Era. BCE is to B.C. what CE is to A.D. It means the years counted backwards from 0, starting from an arbitrary point that just so happens, for convenience' sake, to coincide with the BC/AD boundary.
Many religious fundamentalists do not like it at all when people use BCE and CE (as it "denies historical recognition" or somesuch bollocks).[1] It is one of the main reasons why Andrew Schlafly founded Conservapedia.
It's worth noting that the traditional B.C./A.D. system is by no means accurate, since the date of Jesus's birth is based on consensus, not hard fact.
