Tithing is the giving of one-tenth of one's income to charity, especially a church.

Tithing is done by many good Christians as well as Muslims. I think. A typical lifelong tither may wind up giving $300,000wild ass guess! to their church over the course of their life, which, beyond paying for the upkeep of the church, goes towards ways to improve society. Aren't you glad you didn't put that money in a retirement fund?
