Featured rubbish

I know nobody is editing any more, but surely they can do better than this for a featured article?-- Kriss AkabusiAAAWOOOGAAAR!!1 08:26, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Well you see Joaquín Martínez wrote that article and he is the person who has taken it upon themselves to chooses the featured article of the week, so no matter how bad it is or how many other articles there are nominated he has to pass over, it gets to be article of the week. 199.33.173.1 08:36, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
I'm waiting with baited breath for his next masterpiece... cp:Christian Cross. It's on the list too, I see, along with Addy's cp:Essay:The Coming Fifth Great Awakening in America --PsyGremlinWhut? 09:10, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Oh, I don't know; it's got lots of pretty pictures. That's how I judge the quality of articles. Z3rotalk 09:39, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Ah yes, the "Petite Gallery". That's presumably because English (best language in the history of the world, well, apart from Latin, depending on the point you're trying to make) doesn't have a word for "small". Cantabrigian 10:18, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
The problem is that in French, petite just means small but it in English it means small but perfectly formed and as cute as hELL. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 10:29, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
That just goes to show how English is so superior - look how much more meaning it gets out a single word than the pathetic attempt the French language makes. Take that you frogs! Silver Sloth 11:30, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
The French are despicable, just look what the bastards did to Joan of Arc.  Lily Ta, wack! 13:18, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
SES Testimonial #2: "Because of its [Conservapedia's] unbiased point of view, I can always trust that what I am reading is the truth. When Conservapedia says a gallery is perfectly formed and cute as hELL, it is." --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 14:43, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Arsenal FC is proposed as a feature article. Apart from the fact that it reads like an essay from a 12 year old it includes the gem "After his unexpected death, George Allison came in and guided them to three consecutive League titles." Jessica agrees that it should be a featured article, further evidence that she is a parodist. JoeDuffy 03:42, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Nah, just a case of her showing her nice side. You don't think those people actually read the articles they're proofing over there, do you? --PsyGremlinWhut? 03:59, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

I know we try to ignore conservative

but apparently Ken think Richard Dawkins reads Conservapedia. Hold your breath waiting for a reply, Ken! Z3rotalk 11:47, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Dude, the left side of the mainpage is such a mess right now it's not even funny--he's got a shout out to Ricky D. trampling all over Joaquin's masterpiece, and I can't keep up with all the articles of the whatever and guest treasures and whatnot anymore... TheoryOfPractice 11:58, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
I am in agreement with the plan to link spam Ken's shit until it's #1 for evolution on google. Nothing would be better than watching hundreds of unsuspecting people contributing to, and getting banned from, Conservapedia. Neveruse513 11:59, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
I'm not sure what Ken thinks will happen if CP's article gets higher in Google ranking. Okay, I do know. But, does he really think that we're scared that it will get a high rank or OMG!11!1 #1? I say go for it. I hope it is #1. All the more people who will look at it, say "what the... hell... is... this?", hit their browsers BACK button, and then click on the Wikipedia entry. --Edgerunner76Save me Jebus! 12:19, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Ken deleted his evolution article because it's view count had been hyper-inflated. I presume he wanted to see how many views it really gets thanks to his SEO. The only problem is that it looks like it is being bumped again as I have noticed some incredibly large daily page view counts which don't fit in with the normal viewing pattern. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 12:30, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
(EC: Bumped? Maaaybe) It is all quite hilarious. Every week, he's convinced that Operation Elusive Muskrat Saucy Puddle Shambling Doorjam Rotund Crevice will draw thousands of evolutionists to CP, all of whom will the read the article and immediately reject evolution. Likewise every (evolutionist) person who watches one of the inane youtube videos will immediately read the article, reject evolution, and will likely go about skewering sacred cows and secular scientist paradigms. Thus he obsessively records the number of views [1] of the evolution article, even though I'm responsible for at least 80% of them (I'm guessing >95%, but the program I'm using, Obsession for Men, can't keep track). PubliusTalk 12:32, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
I am ABSOLUTELY in support of your proposal, Neveruse. The more linkage, the higher the Google ranking for his articles, the more lulz for us as more people drop by to Conservapedia. Now, how can we realistically help linkspam that stuff and get Ken's stuff to No.1 in the charts? DogP 13:06, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
We could make fake blogs that link to it or just linkspam every related forum we can find. Neveruse513 13:20, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Two things disappoint me about the Main Page right now. A) There is not enough content - the page needs quite a lot more content to help CP get its full, broad-spectrum message across succinctly. And, B) Hitwin isn't high enough up the page. Ken - try to improve the Main Page a bit more please, your work is not yet done. DogP 13:16, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

As I pointed out above, the left side is just Ken and Joaquin - Dawkins and copythefted images. Truly encyclopedic.  Lily Ta, wack! 13:25, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

0h n0es! Ken's plan is going exactly as forseen! He is using us as his puppet through his cleverly placed socks here! Soon, his site will be growing rapidly! Theemperor

Ken - if you add Stalin to the left of Hitler, we could nickname your picture Shitwin, and that would be funny for us liberal gentlemen for a few minutes, so please do that, OK? Thanks. DogP 17:30, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

I think the others we bothered to save are at the red telephone article? This one was mostly just a CS Lewis quote, wasn't it? Why did we bother, exactly? ħumanUser talk:Human 16:54, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Needless to say, time will tell why we bother regarding bothering. Regarding user Conservative: is he just some kind of malfunctioning artificial intelligence program? It's most likely that in regard to this that time will tell in regard to this most likely. Matt oblong 17:01, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
No, he's a malfunctioning artificial stupidity machine. Ours works better. ħumanUser talk:Human 22:17, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Poor CS Lewis. I happened to like his writing, but now it's all tainted by Ken's assorted effluvia. Regarding his insane rambling, why can't he figure out how the English language works? Matt is right; when a person not only can have their style replicated by a script, but their writing looks like a poorly-written script, something is the matter. PubliusTalk 17:34, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
What a strange man Ken is. I look at the logs on CP and it seems that he just obsessively edits and re-edits this drivel, many times a day. If it weren't for basically ruining the main page, I'd say he's a big *yawn*. Let's stop paying attention to him already. It's not like Thunderf00t can't take care of himself when it comes to dealing with these fundie dopes on Youtube, which seems to be Conservative's new fixation. Nutty Roux 22:18, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Amazingly Ken proves himself even more stupid by admitting that he deleted the Evolution article by accident. And did it twice! Ken you should have maintained it was really for SEO reasons. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 03:47, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Mainpage

What a joke

This has been mentioned above (I think - somewhere) but the main page is AWESOME at the moment! Pictures of rabbits in holes, Hitwin, Articles of the year, poor children as victims of atheism etc etc. It's such a mess that anyone seeing Conservapedia for the first time (such as, oh I dont know, the New Jersey State Education Board) will wonder what the hell this cluster fuck is. Brilliant! Ace McWickedRevolt 16:37, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Gentlemen! I will regurgitate your precious pork chop, enabling me to destroy RW pansies on the internet. You should all be crinkling over Operation fib, which will likely give Conservapedia a top result on a certain search engine starting with G.

Gentlemen at an atheist website,

It appears as if in regards to your criticisms are rather surprising. As per public schools and the Gay Agenda, you mislead children by suggesting that Richard Dawkins is assisting in the Theory of evolution article at Conservapedia. In fact, by the end of the month, it is likely RationalWiki will have lost all vestiges of credibility. :) :) :)

Rest assured, Operation Grassroots is gathering steam!!! I am pleased to announce that I just sent out 24 emails. Sincerely,

David Jensen

Oh yup, as soon as it's mentioned TK clears it all up. Thanks TK! My why dont you send me a thank you email you cowardly piece of shit? In Christ. Ace McWickedRevolt 17:00, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

aceMcWicked in his insistence on Hitwin has revealed himself as a MUSLIM agitator. A devout english person would read From Left to right and realise that the pic is NOT Hitwin but rather Darler ! Another sample of LIBRUL DECEITINESS .... Hamster 19:21, 7 April 2009 (EDT) just practicing :)

One thing is for sure though... the main page needs more content, bigger images and more content. More of those thumbnails that look like shitty javascript floating things. A scrolling banner along the top part of the screen, READ THE EVILUTION ARTICLE AND PREPARE FOR OPERATION Ken :) :) :). More thought of the day, thought of the month, thought of the year, featured thought of the day. More callouts to prominent scientists and atheists - because they're likely definitely reading this stuff. More stuff on the left-hand side so the right hand side has a massive blank at the bottom. Any noob with half a brain would scrap most of that content shit and devote a sentence or two to explain what the blog encyclopedia is doing. FurryQuack 20:34, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
Another thing it's missing is a hefty quantity of advertising. It would be teh awesome if there was mad Bibble pop-up ads and the like. DogP 21:20, 7 April 2009 (EDT)
I have a feeling that between this and this from Joaquin, the mainpage is about to get more cluttered... with drivel. --PsyGremlinWhut? 08:48, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

I reinstated the TK = PatriotGams123 edit as I have been following him for quite a while. For a supposedly youngish mom, PG123 likes a lot of late 60s early 70s rock and is very Reaganite. What you don't know is that until recently PG123 actually had TK as their real name,(wish I'd screencapped that) although along with the image I see it has been changed now. Some clues that it is the TK whom we love and admire:

"RT @falloutkid07 Congressman Barney Frank faces College..." (well known TK subject)
many tweets at RenoCon (TK works in Reno)
He also follows Jpatt ([2] known as jay_pe (Conservapedia)
Posting times synchronise with TK's editing at CP.

He also follows me although he doesn't know it. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 17:07, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Yeah I can see how ignoring someone is easier than having to learn to support your arguments against criticism. - User 09:03, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Well some people would rather converse quietly and rationally as though they were sitting slightly apart having tea. Suppose the topic was whether or not female homosexuality was even mentioned in the Mosaic Law, let alone condemned. One party might point out that the two genders are specified in the text, that "mankind shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind" and there is no corresponding condemnation for womankind with womankind. But the other party just keeps saying, "LESBINISM IS A SIN YOUR POSSESSED BY DEMONDS WHY DONT YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS LORD?" At that point its perhaps better to wrap up the conversation and more or less get a restraining order. 09:24, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Vermont wigo

I know it's going down hard, but some more diffs might save it yet? As of a few repairs, it still reads "On April 7, 2009 activist legislators voted legalize same-sex marriage in Vermont, the first time in the nation's history that a legislature has ignored the voters' will on the issue."

Activist legislators? Parody or stupidity? Who wrote it first? TK? (so that would be both) Legislatures are the fucking "voters' will"! Especially in majorities high enough to override a veto! ħumanUser talk:Human 01:21, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Yes, but they used one of the conservative "magic words": activist. To a certain right wing mindset, all it takes to dismiss something is to use certain words in reference to it -- "liberal", "politically correct", "socialist", "activist", et cetera et cetera et cetera ad infinitum ad nauseam. MDB 07:03, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Part of the frustration/irony is that the Right Wing never listens to itself. When judges decide something (like gay marriage equity) the Right screams "let the legislature decide" "This should come from the law makers, not judges". But when those law makers *do* decide, then the right screams something new. When voters allow gay marriage in popular vote, I'm sure all the voters will simply be activist voters, right?--Sun mowse.pngEn attendant Godot"«Nous naissons tous fous. Quelques-uns le demeurent.» 10:24, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Remember when conservatives were SCREAMING for judicial activism in the Terri Schiavo case? CorryHey, who wants to take me to the hospital? 10:36, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
The bigger irony is that they have no problems overturning the "will of the people" when it suits them. Godot should be familiar with this in Colorado. After the Columbine massacre, the voters overwhelming approved an amendment to the state consitituion requiring backround checks for all gun show purchases. A new bill in the legislature would eliminate that provision as long as the buyer has a concealed carry permit. The right is wetting themselves over this.... So the will of the people apparently only matters when you're on the losing side. SirChuckBI brake for Schukky 11:54, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Wtf !??

Um. TK is against the inclusion of a "Democrats and casual sex" article, citing the fact that both political parties have had their share of sex scandals and it would be inappropriate to single out only the Democrats. What is this plot twist?! tealish??!!!1 02:18, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Between that, his earlier statement that not all great composers were German, and this fifth-columnist support of well-known liberal/communist newspaper The Guardian, it's clear the world is being shaken to its core. DogP 02:46, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Anyone feel like writing Conservapedia related fiction?

Novelas is starting a collaborative project and I’ve created a character for the story. I feel this may need Schlafly experts from RationalWiki. We need Schlafly experts to ensure there is plenty of accurate criticism of Andrew Schlafly and nothing that could lead to successful legal action. See below. Is it too soon to officially deadpool CP?

Ding dong the witch is dead.jpg

Ding! dong! The witch is dead!

Huzzah! The wicked witch Conservapedia is dead!
The denizens of Munchkinland Rationalwiki will be partying tonight!

I think CP is now more or less officially life extinct. All they have left is Andy, Karajou, JPatt, Kendoll and TK who essentially do no editing. All the actual edits in the last few weeks have been from RJJensen, whose card is marked for being far too liberal (read sane), JessicaT and JM. Then there's a smattering of one issue wonders like the KAL007 nutter, Daniel1212 and FOIA. I don't think RJJensen and JessicaT can be long for this world, so where does that leave CP? Dead, dead, dead. --JeevesMkII The gentleman's gentleman at the other site 04:11, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Certainly getting there, yup. Ace McWickedRevolt 04:14, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
The death of CP is going to be hard to measure. Sure the activity is minimal now, but it has always been seasonal. It will only go off-line if Andy stops paying for it so that is unlikely with in the next 2 to 3 years. If in 6 months time we don't even have enough to WIGO more than once or twice a day then maybe we can declare it dead for most purposes. - User 04:19, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
Wait until HSmom's gone - she's a real bellwether for the site. She's consistently been the only sane one there with the spread of activity. Jess has been taken over by the Andy/TK/Kara way and RJJ has never really done anything but perform factual edits. ToastToastand marmite 04:27, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
RJ has not really added anything "new" per say, just new to Conservapedia, it is all stuff he has written before. He is not spending huge amounts of time there considering the amount of writing he is adding. - User 04:31, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

The SES application rejection will be the death knell. ToastToastand marmite 04:54, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I dunno. I have a horrible feeling that Andy knows his application is doomed, but is going to use that as a rallying cry against "liberal formal education" or some such. That said, very few of his homeschoolers seem to edit there these days, which given that was the reason it was created in the first place, seems odd. Add to that the fact that most of the other regular editors, including those like CPalmer and Wesley, who were actually interested in keeping the wiki tidy, are over at Phil's Place and having found that wiki's don't need an oppressive atmosphere are unlikely to return and we're probably looking at the face of CP for the time to come. It's going to remain Andy spouting his increasingly bizarre brand of nonsense, JPatt launching his Obama-hate, Ken with his shout-outs to people who don't read CP and TK's trolling along with various wandals. The dream of it ever being a wiki to contend with WP is long dead. PJR's wiki was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. --PsyGremlinWhut? 05:15, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

CP is a long way from dead. You can eke out these things for years with minimal activity, especially with vigilant and malicious people to police the place. It will just turn into a frozen city, with a handful of improvements every week like a smear of plaster on a crumbling wall, and a vicious little gang of tyrants. It can never really die, since the only thing that can bring it down is if Andy decides to close it. And he won't do that for a very long time, even after it has essentially ground to a halt. How would that fare for his ego, after all?

Even if legitimate edits were almost entirely gone, Andy could keep the place going just by continuing to force his students to work on the place. He started out that way, and he could perpetuate it under that power indefinitely. Don't look for CP to die for years yet.--Tom Moorefiat justitia ruat coelum 05:35, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

A few months ago, I wouldn't have predicted that CP would go the way that it has. Firstly, PJR had a long record of putting up with the madness of Andy and co. and continued to face off against the other obvious idiots/trolls. Even on the Obamuslim issue and gun control, he seemed to get uppity about it all and then just go quiet again.
Secondly, the return of TK has been a totally bizarre episode. Despite his track record, he's successfuly made it an impossible environment for any supposedly reasonable editor. Some people here were saying he was trying to take over CP, which was impossible due to Aschlafly keeping the keys to the kingdom. What he has done is to troll the place into the ground. Bravo, TK, but you're making life boring for the rest of us. Bondurant 06:10, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I don't think TK cares, so long as he can continue his power-tripping. - User 08:08, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
More and more, I suspect CP's ultimate demise will come when the entire thing is revealed to be a hoax. No human being could possibly be as utterly dense as Andy Schlafly with regards to TK's obvious parodist status. TK either really is Andy Schlafly, or is one of his best friends, and is part of the hoax. MDB 07:08, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
You know, I thought the same with the Bugler episode. The Assfly couldn't possibly be stupid enough to believe that Bugler was for real, he must be on to him but using him as a tool to clean up his wiki cost free. Pinochet

I was reading cp:Pinochet and came across this scary bit: "Leftists complain that during his time in power over 3,000 people were killed or vanished,[1] but that total includes Marxist terrorists fighting to restore the constitutional government against the treasonous foreign-backed Pinochet dictatorship. In addition, over a quarter million Chileans were arrested."

In other words, it's fine for the government to abuse you as long as we think they're the good guys. Somebody should point out to them there are no good dictators. --PsyGremlinWhut? 10:08, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

In Conservative-world, there are good dictators. That's why they had two words for them during the Reagan years: "totalitarian" and "authoritarian". The former meant "dictatorships we don't like" and the latter meant "dictatorships we do like".
Now, I think an argument can be made that sometimes you have to deal with nasty people to lessen the impact of even nastier people. But that doesn't mean you're not dealing with dictators. MDB 10:31, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
It all boils down to "The Enemy of my Enemy Is My Friend". Stalin was the enemy of Hitler so he was our friend. Marcos was the enemy of Ho Chi Mihn so he was our friend. Even as recently as 1988, we forgave Saddam for almost sinking the USS Stark (kilt a friend I knew in CT-T "A" school) because he mistook it for an Iranian frigate. 12:31, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
I seem to remember reading that the Iraqi government promised to "punish" the pilot. His "punishment" was a new car. To be fair, thr wikipedia article on the USS Stark does not refer that. It does say American officials said the pilot was executed, but an ex-Iraqi Air Force offices said he was not punished, and still alive at the time. MDB 13:42, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Building height WIGO

Andy's just being an ass per usual, but his "no building is of equal height" statement can be true if you're looking at the 0.000001mm precision. tealish??!!!1 13:34, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

That one was me, I just found it funny that in order to back his claim that languages can be ranked, something that can't be proven, he claims that no two buildings are ever the same height... Something that can proven false... In fact, until they fell, I believe the WTC towers were exactly the same height. SirChuckBI brake for Schukky 14:25, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
GROWL. See, Andy has this problem with understanding that parts do not make a whole. "a culture" made of years of interaction with others, made of religion, made of philosophy is the **same as** its language. His argument about the tribal language of some tribe that has no written history and has no real "technological" accomplishments assumes that if the tribe is worse, the language is worse. if the culture is not advanced, the language is not merely "unadvanced, technologically", but is itself *as a language* worse. How long until we hear that the Empire State Building is better than the Sears Tower, Central Plaza, the Eiffel Tower, the Three Gorges Dam and the Kremlin? NightFlare 17:43, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

For those of you wondering why it is so absurd for Andy to claim that no two buildings are equal in height, see wp:How Long Is the Coast of Britain and wp:Pigeonhole Principle. Of course, the Pigeonhole Principle is traditionally proved non-constructively, so Andy may simply not believe it. Coarb 17:55, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Wikipedia lists a few buildings in the USA having the same height. Not only that, but with millions of homes, it would not be difficult to find two with precisely the same height; especially with many being premanufactured homes these days. --Irrational Atheist 22:16, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

Let me be explicit. Assume there are only 100 million buildings and that they are all shorter than 1km. If Andy has a magic tool that measures building height to tenths of a millimeter, there are still only 10 million possible building heights: 0 m, 0.0001m, .. 999.9999m. That means that two buildings must be the same height.
I think these numbers are conservative; I expect normal humans only measure building height to centimeters, I expect there are a billion buildings, and I think the tallest building is under 900 meters in height. In order to avoid collisions, we could relax one of these numbers, but we would have to do so dramatically:
  • Andy could measure building to micrometers, about the size of a bacterium
  • There could be only 90,000 buildings
  • The tallest building could be 10,000 km tall.

That is, assuming I got my arithmetic right. Coarb 04:50, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

A mathematician could model the height of a building be a real number. Assuming furthermore, that the theoretical distribution of heights is smooth, and that there is only a finite number of buildings on the earth, the probability of two buildings having exactly the same height would be zero, and any statement that building A and building B are equally tall would just be a result of the insufficient accuracy of measuring them.
However, in our physical world there are limits to the accuracy with which a measurement of a building can done. Just think about the influence of temperature, air pressure, humidity etc. So, for any realistic accuracy, you'll find buildings of the same height.
larronsicut fur in nocte 05:13, 9 April 2009 (EDT)
And an afterthought: if you have to buildings, one of ~ 100.001 m, the other ~ 99.001 m - and you cool down the first and heat up the second - no mathematician will deny that there is a point in time when both buildings are exactly of the same height, as he'd take the shrinking and the enlarging processes to be smooth....

I really don't understand this. Could someone please explain it for the dimwitted? Is the basic idea that Theemperor prestended to be using IP 67.135.49.112 and TK banned it? I mean surely anyone would realise that 67.135.49.112 is not a genuine address?? If this is the case this really confirms it for me that TK is certainly a parodist and has panned Jinx for fun - at the first excuse. No-one with even the faintest grasp of IP addressing would think 67.135.49.112 was real! Help! Explain! I'm confused! StarFish 07:21, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
What is there to explain? 67.135.49.112 is the proxy that RationalWiki user Jinxmchue used when he parodied Conservapedia. He made quite a lot of fundamental mistake; same account here as at CP, forgot to change his IP when he edited here, forgot to sign in. But what he did well was run a few fake blogs that made him look like he was a genuine conservative, which convinced Andy enough to give him block rights. However now TK is back and reading us every five minutes he was caught out for being a parodist. Bad luck, but I am sure he will do better next time. - User 07:52, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
Gentleman PI. I suspect your answer is at least partly a smoke screen for watching eyes. The bit that needs explaining is how he could have an IP address of 67.135.49.112. As you well know a single octet cannot be greater than 255. The more I read this the more I think I've missed something obvious - that's the bit that needs explaining. Yes I admit I am a bit slow. I was 8 before I could take the stabelizers of my bike. Don't point and laugh. Just explain where I've gone wrong. In simple words. With pictures. StarFish 07:58, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
First, we KNOW that's a real IP address- when you click on it when it's a signature, you are taken to contributions. Second, Jinx most certainly is a conservative. He's not a parodist. If he was, he'd announce it here as soon as he was outed. Third, there is not RW user named Jinxmchue. --<choose>

Building height WIGO, redux

{pedant moment} well of course not. If we're talking about one building, there's nothing to compare it too. --PsyGremlinWhut? 04:12, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
----------joke----------->
........Psygremlin.......
My favorite part about that stuff is that Andy equates "you can't really claim X is better than Y" to "EVERYTHING IS EQUAL!". If they were discussing cars, it could've been something like:
  • Andy: The Nascar car is the best car
  • LIBRUL: Well, that really depends on what the track is like. For off-road races for example, rally cars are much better.
  • Andy: Ha! You libruls would like to believe that all cars are equal!
  • LIBRUL: What?
It's so much like evolution though. Each language evolved to suit it's niche (the society where it's used) the best, and it's nonsense to try to compare languages without niches.. Like the creationists think that evolution means that some species are better than others, without taking in account in what niche that creature evolved. --GTac 04:50, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
In my defence... I'm sorry, I have a cold. --PsyGremlinWhut? 05:25, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

I guess Andy means that if you measure to the nanometer, no buildings are equal in height, which naturally is true, and also buildings probably differ in height from heat extension from day to day depending on weather. But that isn't a useful usage of either the concepts "height" or "equal". Etc 12:14, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

I think this is a classic example of the Schlafly Overreach. Although his original point is realy realy.... really stupid, his argument is somewhat effective. He said:
Indeed, not only is it implausible for all languages to be equal, but such equality is impossible. It is as impossible as claiming that all buildings are of equal height. In fact, none are"

I think that A, this is a great example of Andy's inability to see things as equal, one is always better (which explains his racism, sexism, religion discrimination and about a zillion other issues) and B, he overreaches. His argument was made and was decent, but he had to keep going. And of course, now that it's been said, he has to stand by it, for that is the will of the Schlafly. SirChuckBI brake for Schukky 12:50, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

When I think about it, I realize it's very close to the core of the concept of being narrow-minded; Andy thinks there is always a "right way" to do things - speak English, lower taxes, carry guns etc. He lacks the ability to see that some things are both good and bad, depending on context. Which is why different cultures, identities, and social classes exist, and the world is not filled with clones. Etc 15:35, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
Of course that's the way he thinks. That's why he's been bashing "moral relativism" all these years. However, he conveniently ignores that POV if so that when a conservative does 'something bad' it's OK but not if a liberal does it. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 15:43, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

And so TK wanders further into Fourth Reich territory, hardly a surprise given that Andy seems desperate to create his own Mein Kampf inside CP, what with his insistence on the superiority of one language over others (presumabely English), the natural and undeniable place German composers have at the top of the list of all-time best composers, and the 'undeniable truth' of his (Andy's) political and moral views and the necessity to impose these on the world. Seems to me that Andy's version of CP has gotten a lot darker recently, and it makes me wonder what he will come up with next, although it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't start hinting at the necessity of pogroms against homosexuals, Muslims, or any other group he has decided to hate. Of course, the skunk is too cowardly to come over here and do it himself (even as a BON), because then - gasp - he would be a member of a vandal site and would have to block himself. Simply put, he identified himself, therefore we can use his name, within reason. He's a sad, lonely bully and frankly I don't give a shit for his feelings. Notice how, despite humiliating Jinx publicly with his block, there's been no public apology, or even a reply on his talk page? Did we expect anything less from the boorish troll Terry is? --PsyGremlinWhut? 09:12, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Two questions. 1. are there any readily available clickbot programs or plugins for Firefox. 2. are there any readily available wiki bot programs for doing bulk edits along the lines of the user that was "turned in to the FBI" ? I would like to be turned in to the FBI please. Thee Nuttish Talk 18:53, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

Just a thought - by posting that telephone number hasn't TK a) broken CP's privacy policy and b) somehow violated the rights of the person whose number he listed? Any way to get his creepiness to backfire on him? P.S. I will be up all night - never watch Korean horror movies alone. --PsyGremlinWhut? 19:03, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

That number seems to ring to the school district's switchboard, but that may only be because today is a school holiday. I'll try it again on Monday and see if TK actually got through to the IT tech. I don't see any good way to get this to blow up for TK any more than it already reflects that he's a creepy dick. Thee Nuttish Talk 19:08, 10 April 2009 (EDT)
IANAL, but this is interesting. It applies mostly to the EU, but it's still an interesting thought, especially with this. Even if it's not illegal, it's certainly a dickish thing to do, as has been pointed out here before. Dreaded Walrus 19:32, 10 April 2009 (EDT)

"If TK actually made the call, it's more than intimidation - it's an attempt to fuck with this person's life, and potentially his job. He also contacted someone at Trent's university. However, PalMD isn't around because he's busy with his blog and life, and of course Trent houses the server in a potted plant next to his desk. Actually, I suspect the person listed is just the contact person as probably the IT person self-administers a network and is responsible for its own IP addresses. The stupid thing is that students across our fine earth wandalize wikipedia everyday, and maybe get a block, but almost never a phone call. This is pure intimidation. But what you're forgetting that WP is just a bunch of liberal scum that deserves to be burnt at the stake vandalised, whereas CP is on an ordained mission from gOD, with Terry Koeckritz his anointed henchman. Very minor amusing incident

Bert just uploaded: 1523ADCAUA895GCAJ3NFZKCAWWQZ2RCA1NC24OCA4BG0EPCAZ0EMZQCA1N678KCAP1K28YCAHTCR5LCAPF4TZMCA1OPFBQCAFF1C50CAEZ0DSLCAQ9AX3NCAH2JUQWCAQKRRBACACD2C0YCACTPC31CASOHYPS.jpg‎

I believe that the filename takes almost as many bytes as the image itself. Redchuck.gif ГенгисIs the Pope a Catholic? 13:10, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Although I don't immediately recognise the form, the filename is almost certainly the result of applying some sort of hash to the image. That's the sort of thing which random websites which let people upload images do in order to ensure that each uploaded image gets a unique name. That doesn't explain why Bert didn't rename it, but there is a reason why it had that in the first place at least.. alt 14:33, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Why are none of these incompetents capable of renaming their images before they upload them? If you steal an image from t'internet, the least you could do is give it a short and meaningful name for wiki purposes. Kendoll is an arch offender too. New words

We've got some new conservative words, with my favorite being originalism. I've heard this argument before, and will never understand it; they constitution should only be interprited as the founding fathers intended, usually meaning MOAR GUN! But the thing the conservative wackos forget is that the founding fathers realized there might be circumstances they didn't foresee, and included INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION, IN THE CONSITUTION!!!11. It must be all the biblical literalism. Oh, and for bonus lulz, look at Andy's definition of bipartisan. Z3rotalk 10:38, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Andy's def of bipartisan; it's this kind of material that makes me think Andy and all of CP is parody. --Simple 11:34, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
You know, if the CP gang weren't so anti-evolution, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Andy say conservatives and liberals are branching off into different species, with the former being the clearly more evolved while the latter are devolving. In my (quite out-of-date) mediawiki version, includes/SpecialBlockip.php is the place to look. Easy to change if one has access to that sort of thing:
if ( $matches[2] > 31 || $matches[2] < 16 ) {
    $this->showForm( wfMsg( 'ip_range_invalid' ) );
    return;
}
alt 19:20, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Alright, write it up and post it on TK's talk page with instructions on how to use, and all teh internets will be blocked by the end of the week. The EmperorKneel before Zod! 20:16, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Sadly doing this kind of thing requires root (or sufficiently elevated) privileges on the server, and I'd be surprised if the list of such people extended very far at all beyond Andy - I'd guess CPAdmin1 probably had access back in the day, but not any more. It'd be easier to engage in social engineering - become the next Bugler or whatever and persuade Andy that you had a liberal-detecting modification to mediawiki and give him some carefully-crafted php. (all speaking hypothetically, you understand) alt 20:46, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
CPWebmater/PhilipB is the person who does the tech work, I don't think Andy actually knows how to do it. He is a sysop here and I think a lot cluier then to fall for a trick like that. - User 05:24, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
Trick? What trick? Just trying to help TK's rangeblock quest. I wonder if it'd let you block 0.0.0.0/0? alt 08:26, 12 April 2009 (EDT)

Mooning Andy

Somebody should ask the ol' doof about total versus annular eclipses. The latter is better known in Andy's world as a liberal eclipse, no doubt.--WJThomas 14:48, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Actually, he did have something of a point. Saying that the size "varies considerably" is an exaggeration.

"Varies slightly, making some eclipses total while others are annular" would be better. Also, it varies according to its distance from the Earth, not the Earth's distance from the Sun. But its apparent size during an eclipse varies over the year. It's a more subtle point than ought to be made. However, if you are operating in a regime in which the size constancy of the Moon and the Sun are invoked for purposes of religious fundamentalism, none of the "science" stuff matters. Despite Andy desperately grasping at straws with this one, I'm surprised nobody's pointed out that his (the murderer's, not Andy's) career with the Marines probably equipped him better to be a murderer, than a one-off bit part in a hack TV show.
