I might put in for a job that means I have to move[edit]

I have a recommendation for a job, no guarantee. The position would mean I have to move a ways away. Not a million miles, but like probably 300-400 miles. I'm really honestly conflicted, and I can't bother people on Christmas. I think I have to take it, at least fire off my application for it. I am guessing by context you have taken a job away from home. I don't think it would hurt that bad, but I could use a take on leaving home. Perspective, I moved a lot as a kid, have not as an adult. Torrent (talk) 08:04, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

@Torrent I'll get back to you on that. For now, apply for the job. After all, you don't have to take it. Spud (talk) 13:48, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
@Torrent I said I'd get back to you. I've been busy with leaving one job and starting another and with moving into a new place.
I've lived and worked in foreign countries since 1997, pretty much my entire adult life. And I'd really wanted to live and work abroad ever since I was 13. Leaving home and making a new home somewhere else was something I was very much looking forward to.
I'm also guessing you're talking about moving from one part of the United States to another part of the United States. So, although I'm sure I'd be wrong to say you won't be facing any cultural differences, they won't be as extreme as the cultural differences I've faced. And I might be wrong, but I'm also guessing it won't be too difficult or expensive for you to travel back to see your family, if you want to.
Let me know if I can be of any more help to you. Spud (talk) 10:04, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Is everything alright?[edit]

Hi, Spud, how's everything? I'm getting increasingly worried about the risk of war between China and Taiwan in the near future, especially since 1 Xi is proving that he isn't as smart as everyone thought. 2 The fact that the Chinese economy is halting and 3 and most important, the West apparently cares a lot less than we though, especially the US (see my my last WIGO). How are the Taiwanese press and people treating the tension between the two countries? GeeJayKWhere all evil dwells Where every lie is true 03:13, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

@GeeJayK Thanks again for your concern.
I'll tell you this. My friend and former supervisor at Chang Gung University, a former colonel in the Taiwanese army, decided to get out of Taiwan because of risk of invasion by China. He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Nottingham in the UK. When that comes to an end in September 2024, he plans to retire and move to Ireland. He wants his young son to become an Irish citizen (and hence an EU citizen) so that he won't have to go into the Taiwanese army. He asked his adult daughter to come with him and she refused. She is a doctor in the Taiwanese army.
Everybody else that knows him seems to think he's worrying about nothing.
Since November, I've been a bit wrapped up in the process of starting a new job. I didn't even know there was going to be an election until last Thursday. But I can't say that I've noticed much of a change in how people are feeling or behaving.
Again, I promise you that I'll get out if things get dangerous. Spud (talk) 03:36, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Header quotes[edit]

How do you feel about me using quotes from fictional material on a page if it's appropriate for/relevant to the page's content in question? BJA2112 (talk) 19:39, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

@BJA2112 I think that's fine as long as you make it perfectly clear that you are quoting a work of fiction. This is especially true if the quote is from a work of fiction that depicts fictionalized versions of real people. It is most definitely not OK to just write "You'll be back". King George III You have to write, "You'll be back." King George III in the musical Hamilton Spud (talk) 14:57, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Not a puff piece[edit]

Contrary to what you people claim, the article about BadEmpanada was not a puff piece, as it also included his disputes with streamers like Vaush and Kurzgesagt as well as this video, which details the accusations of antisemitism against him in regards to Israel. Not to mention, I literally cited his Holodomor video, which was heavily scrutinized for supposed genocide denial. I also literally clarified that BadEmpanada having an article is beneficial for RW's missionality, due to his stance on Zionist propaganda, American exceptionalism, and Latin American history as well as his political disputes like his one with LonerBox on Israel-Palestine. Plus, Vaush and Destiny have plenty of videos responding to BadEmpanada. If you want someone critically analyzing his claims, Aztlan Historian is a prime example. Dude, you lost the AfD. Get over it and stop spreading this drama to other people's pages. Plutocow (talk) 22:09, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
I'll leave Spud alone, but the reason for the deletion was completely null and void. DaRealPrinceZuko (talk) 22:16, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
Losing an AfD vote is a perfectly valid reason for deletion. Plutocow (talk) 22:27, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

You okay?[edit]

I heard about the earthquake. Arcadium Trancefer (talk) 11:15, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Fuck dude, I just saw the news as well. I hope you're safe and sound. - Rairyu75 (Talk) 11:27, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
@Arcadium Trancefer @Rairyu75 Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for your concern. I'll post about it in the Saloon Bar soon. Spud (talk) 13:35, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Hello[edit]

Hey, how's it going? I hope you're safe from the earthquake over there.

I wanted to also ask, am I allowed to request new categories to be made? Rational Dude (talk) 23:20, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

@Rational Dude you can go ahead and create a new category if you want. Just don't get too upset if it gets nominated for deletion later. Spud (talk) 02:09, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
I won't, I understand that sometimes a new category may not always go through. Rational Dude (talk) 12:58, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
