Reverse Discrimination

"Reverse Discrimination" is an interesting phrase, inasmuch as it implies that there is a "proper" direction discrimination should flow in.

The term is typically applied by some Conservatives and Libertarians (in the United States) to government-mandated efforts to ameliorate the vestigial economic and social dislocations due to 300-odd years of slavery.

It also comes up, although less often but from the same quarters, when discussing efforts to reduce or eliminate sexism in the workplace and culture in general. One reason we hear it less over "women's rights" is that roughly half the population stands to benefit by these measures.
