Pie

Pie is what you're staying for.
The Republicans want to give your piece to one of their business cronies. The Democrats want to give your piece to one of their special interest groups. The Libertarians have their own pie, and they're not sharing, dammit!
A pie chart is a graphical representation of a set of figures showing (usually) how a total is apportioned, as varying sized wedges making up a complete circle.
A common expression is: "as American as apple pie". Inasmuch as both pie and apples were known before America existed as a nation, or was even discovered as a continent, this is rather strange.
