Please discuss this assassination attempt on the talk page.

This is a Debate Page. Feel free to add your own spin on the story
But keep it civil or we will like totally do... something involving something that could be considered in some way hurtful. This Debate was created by OneForLogic and inspired by Rembrandt.ryan.

This began as a huge thread on Rembrandt.ryan's talk page. It was then moved to the debate namespace, with all previous formatting and comments left as they were. There was then much talk of reformatting the discussion to be clearer and more accessible on the debate's talk page. This is my best attempt to do that.

Contents

[edit] Affirmative action

The Wikipedia page is what? (GFDL) Copy it here or shut up. Don't make me leave the site to read simple text.

  • AA must be applied carefully. Quotas, and giving positions to less qualified people for any other reason, are never a good idea. Helping disadvantaged people find opportunities is entirely fair and acceptable, but I generally believe such efforts should focus more on helping the economically disadvantaged (PC euphemism for "poor people") contribute more to society, rather than on helping minorities. [edit] Global warming

Lots of issues here. Are humans responsible? What should be done about it? Global warming on Wikipedia. Note the large number of related articles.

Lots of issues, deserves own page. And much better intro than what I see above. ħuman thoughts 03:24, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

[edit] The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

This is a non-profit organization, operating in the United States, that works to defend the rights and liberties guaranteed to everyone here by the U.S. Constitution. ACLU on Wikipedia.

[edit] Prayer and other religious displays in public

This is pretty broad and could easily make for a debate of it's own. Is publicly displaying one's religion acceptable? How much public display is acceptable? Praying? Leading public prayer? Displaying commandments or other texts? Displaying symbols or icons? Where is it acceptable? Etc.

Make it a page of its own after we delete this one. It's also very US-centric. ħuman waste 03:22, 8 August 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Smoking law

Should smoking be discouraged or banned? Where should it be discouraged or banned? What should be done about smoking advertisements? Etc.

[edit] Political correctness

How much is too much? Should it be enforced? Should it be practiced at all?

[edit] Ethanol and other biofuels

Should they be produced? Should the government support and or subsidize such production?
