Crickets

chirp, chirp, chirp...

Crickets is an expression used to illustrate the complete lack of response to a challenge to pseudoscience believers. It is based on the "sound of silence", i.e., no response from the interrogee, upon a fine summer's eve (not the douche!). All one hears is the symphony of chirping crickets.

These live happily on our Challenge articles -- articles that ask the supporters of certain pseudosciences or extreme religious beliefs to reveal the science or evidence behind their position.

Disturb them with care, as they are getting quite comfortable.

The sound of crickets chirping merrily away is often accompanied by Buddy Holly the sight of tumbleweeds blowing across the landscape.
