Conservapedia:Vaccination, Censorship of
From RationalWiki
Is a "Trustworthy Encyclopedia," with a stated goal of providing "educational, clean, and concise entries" for use by students, well served by the censorship of well-known information?
As we all know, the smallpox vaccine was pioneered in 1796 by Edward Jenner, leading to the whole field of inoculation against disease. But Andy Schlafly of Conservapedia censored its entire description and history. Note that his edit comment said "reverting again; don't revert back to the longer version or else your account will be blocked". There had been a small edit war over this censorship, and this was Andy's usual way of making his point. See also here, where yet another good contributor was driven away. It is interesting to note that Andy is general counsel [1] to the right-wing and anti-vaccination Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. Conflict of interest?
