Conservapedia's Law
From RationalWiki
On June 9, 2009, Andrew Schlafly, master of the geometric fit, introduced Conservapedia's Law as a companion to his "Best New Conservative Words" insight. This law reads:[1]
| “ | Conservapedia's Law is the observation that conservative insights increase over time at a geometric rate, as in 1-2-4-8-16-etc. | ” |
As Schlafly further explained:
Little is known about the thought processes that caused Schlafly to come up with Conservapedia's Law, or the observations that lead to its discovery. In particular, it is as of yet unclear how, exactly, Schlafly came to discover the alleged geometric progression in the list of Best New Conservative Words, what made him conclude that the amount of new Conservative Words directly correlates with the amount of Conservative Insight, and most importantly what, exactly, caused him to elevate this discovery into the "Conservapedia's Law". Indeed, one could demand more conclusive proof on how exactly Conservapedia specifically exemplifies the geometric growth of Conservative Insight. Speaking of which, more elaboration would be in order to find out what "Conservative Insight" specifically means in this context, and how exactly it is quantified for historical comparison.
In other words, it's yet another of those strange, clear-as-mud ideas Schlafly has come up with, put it on a high pedestal almost as an afterthought, and everyone promptly forgot about it - just another day in Conservapedia.
Taken to its logical conclusions, however, Conservapedia's law has some interesting implications. It is well known that although a geometric curve starts out with a comparably small d insights/d time, it will quickly increase to incredible levels, and an ever increasing number of conservative insights. It is known that even Schlafly's ability to have conservative insights is limited, being constrained by his need for sleep (hence 'night-time editing' restrictions) and the simple minimum speed at which articles can be created; furthermore, the rate of conservative insights among all conservatives, not just Andrew, is limited by Conservapedia's server capacity, which is notoriously prone to simply giving up when the mainstream media links to his site. This suggests that there will come a point at which the rate of increase of conservative insights will eventually exceed human capacity to have them - Andrew is understandably quiet on this, but the facts are clear - it is the conservative singularity, and is possibly related to the Rapture, or alternatively the 'major new project' designed to blow liberals out of the water, as prophesied by Conservative.
